Taking a Gamble - Dizzy
He lives in New York, where skyscrapers cast
long shadows, and people move fast
Yet his pace is slow
To wherever he goes
Years spent in the bottle
had taken its toll,
so much of his memory it stole,
Indeed, so much of his soul
He had gambled with drugs and booze
And he lost that bet,
He had paid his dues
He still had regrets
But now he's found sobriety
His saving grace,
From a world of notoriety
To a better place
He is thankful that life had shuffled the deck,
And gave him a hand he could play
Otherwise he'd been a wreck,
Living in a world of gray..
