Growing up,my mother loved me with all she had,
Like my teacher,she taught me alot; social behavior;
To my attention,she brought rules of love
In a friendship or relationship or any connection;
Defining a friend as a precious gift from God;
An answer to loneliness,a pill to growing longer;
For a friend brings a smile,lessens your burdens,
And you are set free from stress; your lifespan is lengthened.
She called me her daughter and I called her my mummy,
So she said,
"He who is not faithful and enthusiastic;
Deserving,natural,interested and respectful"
Isn't a friend indeed!
Your buddy ought to look out for you,
Like you were his own flesh and blood.
Through the storms and droughts,
Peace and war; health and illness;
They are your confidant,who neither leave nor forsake you.
So, I asked my mother,
How I could tell a genuine friend from a liar;
"Pray,pray,pray,pray and pray!"
She kept on telling me to pray,
To pray in the morning,
To pray in the noon time,
To pray,even as the sun goes down;
That prayer had all the answers I ever wanted;
Say,who was or who wasn't true,
I would find out only through prayer.
My mother set rules for me, to live by in my friendships;
One;she said I had to love myself first,
That it is after loving myself that I could love another.
Two;she told me to love my friends just as I loved myself;
Care for them,accommodate them,forgive them,make them happy;
For as much as I know,that's all I would want for myself!
Three;mother told me never to give in fully,
Or I would completely be torn apart into pieces!
I guess she knew how stupidly I fall in love -so easily!
How soft hearted,with a thin skin I was;
So,she told me these,long before I was mature enough to understand them.
My dear mother gave me a friendly package,
To carry with me all my life,
Embrace the beauty of love, welcome friends into my life;
Take them in,open my heart to them,allow them to be part of me,
As I am a part of them; and share a portion of their love.
So, I live like this, because I know I have you.
Seeing you lightens my sorrows,and cheers up my spirit,
For you are my friend,
Whose presence in my life,I cherish as dear!
I wanted to paint like the mad woman of Kansas today.
I wanted to throw paints around on canvas in a swishy, squishy, messy, impolite way.
I ran out to my studio and finished up a present for a friend.
Then I wrote some poetry, and I read a book and I watched two TV shows
Which were a total waste of almost two hours of my time.
Then I ran outside to the art studio again,
But before I reached it, I saw a baby deer,
So I landed instead in my office, and I wrote a poem about him.
Then I was hungry, so I came into the house again and ate a sandwich.
But before I consumed it, I started looking for something salty.
Namely potato chips, which were hidden.
This reminded me of how irritating it is that my
Husband has transformed from a loveable slob into an insanely weird cleanliness freak,
I guessed that he had hidden the potato chips.
He was wearing his headphones and could not hear me yelling, so
I threw stuff all over the kitchen floor to show how truly and completely mad I was at that moment.
I am the mad woman of Kansas today, who is now throwing socks out of a drawer because
My feet are cold, and I am really getting grumpy. I am the mad woman
Who is never painting a thing today apparently. I know this as I settle down for a little nap.
I've been in the soup bowl for an hour or two
Read some great poetry by poets old and new
So far my commenting is working as it should
Hope I'm not to early to say things are good.
Seems the soup Gremlin met with a grisly end
I think all that he wanted was me for a friend
Or maybe with another poet he's gone to stay
But I just hope from me ; he now keeps at bay.
If you encounter a Gremlin report it straight away
Because left unchallenged he'll sure ruin your day
Contact the Gremlin hotline the number is free
They'll soon be on the case and spare you misery.
Written 5th August 2020.
I remember when I first met her.
I was the new girl in town.
Alone and feeling dejected,
For a friend I was casting around.
I'd been welcomed at church by many,
Though I knew they'd not have the time,
If I stopped by for a visit,
For most others were of different mind.
I needed someone like minded.
Someone whose thoughts mirrored mine.
For though Christian I had a free spirit.
What I sought was a partner in crime.
At first she didn't trust me.
Like me she'd been hurt a lot,
But I knew the minute I saw her,
We'd been cast in the self same pot.
She actually asked me questions,
To see just what was my game.
Why in the world would I seek her out?
I told her my reasons were plain.
Alone I had no one to talk to.
I didn't know where to begin.
My marriage in tatters, my sanity gone,
I was only seeking a friend.
Someone that I could confide in,
Who would not my secrets convey,
To any and all who would listen,
And sit back over tea and bray;
For this is what someone had just done,
That self centered female jackass,
Made me look a fool so she could look cool.
Well, like most gas I just let her pass.
So Alice and I became fast friends,
Had the same bent sense of humor.
We found we were both the butt of most jokes.
If we could we would start most rumors.
We both loved the Lord and He understood,
'Cause good hearted, we never caused harm.
Though to tell you the truth we often caused,
Our husbands a bit of alarm.
One night in her home she got me drunk,
On her Alice Wall Bangers.
Then we played "car tag" throughout the town,
Never realizing we were in danger.
We could have been killed in our sorry state,
But we only damaged the car,
That her husband had just spent a mint on;
When he found out he just saw stars.
We loved the Lord, we loved our pets,
As much as we loved our kids.
We were kindred spirits, she and I,
Though most thought we'd flipped our lids.
Apart from each other we're pretty low key,
But together we had a blast.
God broke the mold when He made we two,
It was from the same die we were cast.
I am going to put in rhyme,
what my heart tells me all the time.
It tells me Iam so lucky to know you,
there is a special bond between us two.
Some one I can laugh with all the time,
some one who understands why I write,
some one to talk to late at night,
some one who is always there,
because your some one who really cares,
there is nothing too much for you,
thats why I love you through and through.
I will do the same for you,
if you ever need me to,
I would comfort you at night,
hold you oh so tight ,
keep you close to me ,you know you can rely on me,
for a friend like you does not come every day,
thats why your special to me in every way.
At first we were just names on a screen,
Not a thing did our words really mean.
Two people just talking at each days end,
Two lonely souls looking for a friend.
One much older than the other,
But not old enough to be his mother.
Then one day he spirits did fall,
That I felt compelled to give him a call.
We started talking via phone,
It felt like we were not alone.
Both knowing each of us was not free,
But our friendship just seemed meant to be.
For a few months there was no contact,
As an end came to my phone contract.
Then one day out of the blue,
He got a text from someone he thought he not knew.
We resumed our friendship once again,
But there it did not end.
He started saying things that gave my heart pause,
He said he loved me just because.
Claimed he knew for quite a while,
Even though my divorce had yet to be filed.
No matter what given reasons for us not to be,
He says he is in love with me.
I fell in love with this young man,
Over the course our friendship span.
He gave me his heart and he has mine,
For him I will try to shine.
My young love is cleverly spoken,
He loves me, even though I am broken.
What is this friendship we covet
Is it special is it right.
It doesn't need to be sexual.
Sometimes I prefer you when your Intellectual.
A game two or one can play.
Endless childish fun all day.
Watching butterflies flutter bye.
Caterpillars racing them onto the leaves.
Honey bees that don't want to sting.
They are too busy collecting nectar for their queen.
Ladybirds of different colours racing up stems.
Spiders on webs waiting for a friend.
Flies that get stuck in her trap.
She cuddles them and wraps them in a bag.
Walking by the slow flowing stream.
We come to the pond. And play with frog spawn.
The dragonfly on red wings .
Catches a damsel fly to eat.
The birds sing gaily in this secluded spot.
We open our hamper and begin our picnic.
A squirrel comes over to see what he can nick.
You laugh at his boldness and throw him some biscuit.
He takes his prize up a tree he was right to risk it.
Across the pond a heron stands forlorn.
Waiting in the shadows for a fish meal.
I watch you captivated you haven't seen one before.
You take out your camera and get ready to take the shot.
He hears the click and goes into the air.
Your still excited even though the picture is blurred.
You turn and kiss me and thank me for spending time with you.
Two friends out for the day in the afternoon sun.
No need to rush no need to run.
This is what friendship is, just a day of fun.
But all things end and this day will too.
But never this bond between me and you.
GUILE..©2020
JESUS POSSESSED NO GUILE, THE SCRIPTURES ARE TRUE,
HE WALKED AS A MAN THROUGH THIS WORLD A WHILE.
SENT TO ATONE, BUT HIS MANNER WAS KIND
NO DECEIT WAS FOUND IN HIM, BUT ALONE.
DISHONEST HE WAS NOT, HONESTLY HE SOUGHT GOD'S WILL.
FATHER NOT MY WILL, BUT THINE HE REPLIED PRAYING FOR
THE CUP TO PASS. RESPONSIBILITY WAS HIS TO FILL. HE SANCTIFIED
HIS CHURCH AND CLEANSED IT AND WASHED IT WITH WATER BY THE WORD.
HE IS A FRAUD THEY ACCUSED, PROCLAIMING TO BE GOD.
JESUS WAS, OFFERED THE WHOLE WORLD IF HE WOULD SURRENDER.
ATTACKED AT HIS WEAKEST POINT WHEN HE HUNGERED AND THIRST.
FORTY DAYS AND FORTY NIGHTS, HE NEVER FORFEITED HIS SPLENDOR.
WHO WILL BE THE GREATEST IN OUR ARENA AS WE FIGHT.
BUSINESS, SPORTS WORLDLY PLEASURES. WE ARE, CAUGHT UP IN A
WORLD OF DECEPTION. WHAT COMES FROM THE MOUTH IS FROM THE
HEART. SPARE THE ROD SPOIL THE CHILD WILL NOT LEAD TO PERFECTION.
GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN TO LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR A FRIEND.
Abby
For a friend with a big heart.
In a world that sometimes dims its light,
Abby shines with something bright
A gentleness that lifts the air,
A heart so wide, so strong, so rare.
She threads her kindness through each day,
In little gestures, words she'll say,
Remembering what others need,
Sowing hope with quiet deed.
Her laughter lingers, soft and warm,
A beacon through the raging storm;
For Abby's heart was forged by fire,
By hardships life did not retire.
She's seen the nights that have no end,
Felt the ache that will not bend,
But found in sorrow seeds of grace,
Resilience shining in her face.
She does not hide from where she's been,
But grows a garden deep within,
Where gratitude and lessons bloom,
Dispelling shadows, chasing gloom.
A flickering solace in the night.
Shelves of stories, ticket stubs,
Her spirit dances in their clubs.
She watches credits to the last,
Finds meaning in each story past,
Lives a thousand lives through art,
Letting every film touch her heart.
Through every scene, each story's part,
She holds the films close to her heart.
Yet amid these joys, a simple treat-
A cup from HteaO, icy and sweet-
Brings sunshine to her every day,
Shared with friends along the way.
A volunteer, a steadfast friend,
Her empathy will never end-
A birthday cake, a helping hand,
She's always there to understand.
Yet brave is she, her spirit clear,
She stands for love and draws us near;
Her courage quiet, steady, true,
Inspires all she meets anew.
She treasures every simple joy:
A cup of tea, a whispered ploy
Of sunlight dancing in the trees,
The hush of snowfall on the breeze.
A quote when you are feeling low,
A silent hand when tears must flow,
She celebrates the best in you,
Her faith in kindness shining through.
Abby's story still unfolds,
Each day another page she holds.
A legacy of hope and grace-
A gentle smile, a warm embrace.
Though she may never see the way
Her kindness colors every day,
Those who know her will agree:
Abby's heart is poetry.
Could she be taking her bath?
Or merely making up for her tattered guest
May be, scared. . Looking for a friend for help
Whatever! I sighed”I will wait for her
For I have come a long way”
Suddenly, as I was trying her phone again
I saw a lady walking my direction
Her gaze on my eyes was very heavy
Could she be the one I am waiting for?
As if she heard what I said
She gave a quasi-smile aimed at me
Walking smartly but very consciously
She gave another smile of confirmation
I responded instantly with mine saying
“Here comes IBK at last”.
I stretched forth my hand
“Good Morning ma. How are you?”
“Fine, how was your journey?
Sorry, for the stress you got into”
I need not answer, for she is got it.
