My Friend
Growing up,my mother loved me with all she had, Like my teacher, she taught me alot; social behavior; To my attention, she brought rules of love In a friendship or relationship or any connection; Defining a friend as a precious gift from God; An answer to loneliness,a pill to growing longer; For a friend brings a smile, lessens your burdens, And you are set free from stress; your lifespan is lengthened. She called me her daughter and I called her my mummy, So she said, "He who is not faithful and enthusiastic; Deserving, natural, interested and respectful" Isn't a friend indeed! Your buddy ought to look out for you, Like you were his own flesh and blood. Through the storms and droughts, Peace and war; health and illness; They are your confidant, who neither leave nor forsake you. So, I asked my mother, How I could tell a genuine friend from a liar; "Pray, pray, pray, pray and pray!" She kept on telling me to pray, To pray in the morning, To pray in the noon time, To pray, even as the sun goes down; That prayer had all the answers I ever wanted; Say,who was or who wasn't true, I would find out only through prayer. My mother set rules for me, to live by in my friendships; One;she said I had to love myself first, That it is after loving myself that I could love another. Two;she told me to love my friends just as I loved myself; Care for them, accommodate them, forgive them, make them happy; For as much as I know, that's all I would want for myself! Three;mother told me never to give in fully, Or I would completely be torn apart into pieces! I guess she knew how stupidly I fall in love -so easily! How soft hearted, with a thin skin I was; So,she told me these, long before I was mature enough to understand them. My dear mother gave me a friendly package, To carry with me all my life, Embrace the beauty of love, welcome friends into my life; Take them in,open my heart to them, allow them to be part of me, As I am a part of them; and share a portion of their love. So, I live like this, because I know I have you. Seeing you lightens my sorrows, and cheers up my spirit, For you are my friend, Whose presence in my life,I cherish as dear!
