Premium Member Looking Back

Dedicated to my children who have kept my dreams alive.

LOOKING BACK

We can’t go back
To the days of yesteryear
To capture those lost feelings
With those whom we loved so dear

I am just looking back to see
Where all of my dreams first start
You know those deep seeded dreams
Buried way down deep in your heart

I’m not trying to revive a lost love
That I once had forty years ago
Or even trying to replace the twenty years
Of not seeing my grandchildren grow

There were times of much struggle
Filled with pain, fear and torture
It was the love I had for my children
That developed my strength to endure

My children only remember the 2nd set
Of twenty years that have come and gone
When they were all moving out on their own
And when all of the grandchildren came along

It’s like I was locked in a rock
Throughout those 20 to 40 years
Not able to see my grandchildren
Filled my heart with so many tears

The bitterness you feel towards me
Is understandable and really okay
My children, you all have the right
To your feelings and to feel that way

I have finally made the escape
Since that rock has split wide open
I want you all to know who I really am
I haven’t changed at all, only my situation

The gift of feelings we have in our heart
Whether right or wrong, just happen
It matters not what others may think
We should let out our own self expression

No feelings are really ever wrong
In another’s view or even our own
Our thoughts trigger our feelings inside
The feelings we have are ours alone

Looking back strengthens my heart
Reminding me I want to pass along
To all of you, just who I really am
Before my time on earth is gone

One day I hope you will realize
With you I have always been
Filling you up with that extra love
You may have noticed you’ve been given

You have all filled up
 Such a big part
Of all the dreams
Living in my heart

My best friend Grace, reminded me
That our feelings are meant to be and to last
God wouldn’t put the dreams in our heart
If He didn’t plan to bring the dreams to pass

My dreams haven’t changed
I am not letting them go
They are for new adventures
With new beginnings of tomorrow

Now that I’m looking back
I’m so glad to have survived
I know now, my love for all of you
Has always kept my dreams alive

Premium Member The Glitter of Life

This is being newly dedicated to my Aunt Jane who reminded me to keep shining God’s light brightly.

THE GLITTER OF LIFE

A tiny sparkle of hope
Hidden within the gloom
We only see muddy water
Occupying all of our room

There is a pretty flower
Beneath those tall weeds
Buried far out of sight
We look not that deep

We seek bad news
So eagerly caught
We forget good news
Should be what is sought

Let us take a quick peek
Of the descriptionalization
It is what life is all about
To reach full realization

The hovering dark cloud
Brings depression and woe
Feeling trapped in sadness
Pulling with an evil tow

You become a hard rock
Or it seems like one of them
Now the trials before you only
Sand and polish you to a gem

Your eye catches a twinkle
To tap your vision per say
It travels far within to spark
Happy thoughts your way

Those clouds of gloom
Cover up the shiny light
The glitter inside of you
That wants to shine bright

All those weeds can hide you
Even from your very own face
So it is time to pull those weeds
To clear the area of your space

A crushed spirit as written
Will only dry up the bones
Whereas is your joyful heart
A good medicine to own

Our strength is from within
The joy of the Lord in each one
Our individual glitter of life
To shine with strong emotion

When you do shine your light
To see your pathway grounds
The glitter of life will be seen
That most abundantly surrounds

There will be a glow of beauty
Like nature covered in sequins
The flowers bursting through
Even the tallest weeds of grim

You will see the difference
You will finally get the hint
Even if you only shine a bit
With a brief flashing glint

To shine your light is simple
Though it seems hard to do
Hum a merry tune, or whistle
Even a smile changes attitudes

Clear the air with a breeze of hope
Thus letting the light inside glisten
A new wind of change on a good note
Chiming a beautiful tune – just listen

Lean not on our own understandings
To form opinions of what appears to seem
It is the faith within that holds the victory
To overcome the world and conquer our dreams

We are all sprinkles of the glitter of life
Scattered through dark clouds of gloom
Fighting our way through evil and such
Brightening the path for happiness to bloom

Premium Member Sweet Memories of Norma From Susan

Sweet memories of Norma
Come shining through
There are just so many
And I’d like to share a few

We’ve been very best friends
For about fifty three years
Through the ups and downs
With lots of laughter and some tears

She has really been like
A dear sister to me
I’m even called Aunt Susan
By most of her family

In her life she has had
Her share of difficulties
Going through tough times,
Illnesses and some disabilities

But with her positive spirit
And being a cheerful person
She has always had a joyful heart
That she shared with everyone

As a single mom she worked so hard
To raise her children and make a family
And even when they were all grown
They were always her top priority

We worked and lived together
Back some time ago
Even when things got hectic
She always seemed so mellow

With any blockage in her path
She found an opened door
She always loved the bible
And Christian music she’d adore

Norma liked to take road trips
And to her, the special one
Was seeing the beautiful mountains
On a trip to Washington

She always had a hobby
To sew, crochet or knit
And with her special crafts
She was indeed most artistic

She was always able to make
So many wonderful things
By using her inventive mind
She created beauty out of nothing

She enjoyed good food
And always liked to cook
And some of her mom’s recipes
She put in a handmade cookbook

Yellow roses and chocolate pretzels
Were things she liked the best
But her grandchildren and loving pets
Were better than the rest

Though she was a little stubborn
Some folks just might say
For speaking her mind of what she believed
But we loved her that way

She was always there for Gracie
By her side so close
And being Dustin’s champion
Her heart desired the most

She kept a constant vigilance
Sitting out in the hot sun
Watching over their damaged home
Of what the tornado had done

Being outdoors was second nature
With her skin tone you could tell
Her natural beauty was clear to see
And she had great legs as well

A unique kind of soul
With no one to even compare
Always making us laugh
And giving more than she could spare

Premium Member Thanks For That Memorable Day

07/31/2012
Written by: Florence McMillian (Flo)
Dedicated and written for my friend, Lisa Giessinger, as a special message from her to her mother, Hazel – about a most memorable day they spent together.

 To My Mother Hazel
Thanks for that Memorable Day

This poem is specifically
Being written just for you
I requested it from a friend
For she knows just what to do

That special day we spent together
Is so very memorable for me, I’d say
I want it to be memorable for you too
With a poem written in a rhyming way

We’ve had our ups and downs in life
With probably most of them being down
You raised me to know how life can be
Not easy to cope, with down things all around

Well I’ve stepped up to a new level
To be happy no matter what the hell
Of any negative surroundings to be
I live thankful that my life is all well

That special day started out so bad for me
As I was headed for back injections again
I was really happy you were taking me there
With a comfort feeling knowing we are kin

It seemed like the first time in a very long time
Where we just enjoyed each other that day
You were kind of like that sweet rose
One stops to smell along the way

In this path I have traveled
Through many overgrown weeds
It was refreshing and pleasant this time
With no discussion of what someone needs

We got along together talking and laughing
It gave me such a lasting good impression
We even ate at Don Julio’s afterwards
I sure hope you had just as much fun

I want you to know how much
I appreciate this time we spent together
Making this a most memorable day for me
To truly cherish for always and forever

Now let me tell you, that day did get worse
With everyone putting me down everywhere
You were the rose amongst the trash talkers
It felt good to know my Mom really does care

Even if everything dips to the downside
Within the journeys of my life I may go through
No one could ever take our shared moments away
They’re in my heart forever and I’ll always love you

I had the best time with me and my Mom
If I told the world, that’s what I’d say
So I really want to thank you Mom
For that most memorable day

Love, Lisa

~ In the Innocence Sublime ~

We lay fallen as velvet roses divinity-promenading in our wake. Innocence sublime
weeping still-puddles... blessing-our-first-kiss. Beauty eminent one heart securing all we
share-tongues-entwined hopes defined joined together-soaring-free-as-one... a kin to love,
swept-away-by-it-we-were... .

I believe the heart of grace adamant, generous-tender and-aware honest and faithful-
awaiting-patiently... moves freely, because it knows, the-pureness of love always inspires
the-opportunity, and so enchantment-gazed upon innocence and desire knew-itself, when-first
God showed Adam Eve... !

Now-here today as time has-kept-us in-its ardent-march-I-say I believe-it was-the same
with-him back then... .

Because simple-smiles day-dreams and quiet eye-beams alone... for me-too-with-you
just wouldn't have been-enough, and-when-I-think-of-you, I thank-God for the blessing of
our-time, because my heart enchanted, elated, complete... from-here on-out will I forever-
know-and be-grateful to-have-loved the-beautiful-angel, that is you.

As-so-enticed by the light in your-eyes, the hopeful-manner the-playfulness of your-lips, I
tell-you-intrigued, to entwine-them-together, (with mine)... !

I figured I'd have a day to share, and a lifetime, from-then-on,

(to touch)... .

(if only just),
I-could-chance to-embrace them...

((once)).

Flo J Thomas a Walking Angel Gone

For the rose without season is you
Light between stars shine through your soul
Ocean of kindness whispers your name
Joy resides in those beautiful eyes
Treasure trove,a friend to keep
Humbleness and Honesty your virtues
Open-hearted to all, expecting nothing in return
Mother and Wife who lives life for her beloveds
Admirable for verse, and much more for gentle deeds
Special is the best word which sincierely describes you.

Dedicated to Flo.J Thomas- a friend who supported so many soupers here on ps ,by reading our poetry, and encouraged so many by giving free memberships ,She even sent so many surprise gifts across the ocean, one of which has even reached my own land, and made me so happy.

Today Flo. is gone. Her account is closed, and Her beautiful words are now replaced by an empty page, on this site. This saddens me deeply. It saddens me anytime any souper gets hurt enough to leave. It hurts because poetry 's purpose is not to hurt people but to unite them.Us soupers here should be more careful how to use our words .Lets not let our tongues work faster than our hearts, nor our pretentious minds play the game better than our kindred souls.Someone have hurt Flo badly by stating mean remarks about Her,so I was told.I don't know who that someone is,because Flo was woman enough not to reveal names, but She was hurt, hurt enough to leave here, and close Her account.I can't watch more soupers leave due this nonesense.Pls lets all be more careful how to use our words.I am not pointing fingers at anyone in particular,I am saying this to myself as well.We all need to be more gentle and respectful .Situations like these are making friends considering leaving here for good, and each time one of us is gone, its a huge loss for our soup familyLet us all remember that once we utter a word we cannot take it back.It is ok for us to be different, have our distinct ideas, it is great to share them, but lets do everything with love.

To our dear Flo I say -'Please do return to poetrysoup and open a new account.I am sure you are greatly missed by many, sweet lady with an uplifting spirit. Thanks for being You.Pls Come Back '.

Premium Member Encouragement

This poem was written in 2019 and is now being dedicated to my sweet niece, Joleen Cogburn for lifting spiritual belief from her heart by encouragement as she truly reflects the light of the Lord with her daily devotionals.

ENCOURAGEMENT

Every moment of time we have
A new form of change takes track
Time passes so quickly we notice not
Until we actually turn to look back

Everyone was placed on this earth
Each with a specific path to journey
For individual growth of knowledge
Gaining our lessons to lock in memory

It is at birth the feelings touch our hearts
As all are born with a breath of God’s light
Although it must be shared to rejuvenate
To shine that glorious joy within so bright

We must accept each step of change
Otherwise the inner light will seem dim
The best way for you to be recharged
Is from light rejuvenation of a friend

Keep each other’s light shining
Even to a stranger who is down
As the more we shine on others
Our inner light will shine all around

Live in the light of the Lord’s return
The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:8
We should reflect the inner joy of life
By faith, love and hope to demonstrate

Lift the spirits of everyone you can
By encouragement and edification
As 1 Thessalonians 5:11 points out
To shine on others with reflection

The light will pull us out of darkness
In the times of need on our journey
A word of kindness or a lending ear
Just as I need you and you need me

Life is the ticking of time we are given
With seasons of changes that pass by
Open your spiritual mind of thought
Your inner child of light will multiply

Keep moving forward with peacefulness
Idleness will only bring forth destruction
Keep living and giving your love to others
To complete all of the life lesson education

Encouragement gives us a burst of energy
Focus on the goodness in life around you
Even when you face those difficult times
Then your goodness will shine through

You need to awaken those senses
To learn what you already know
Look for the good in everything
Keep shining the light as you go

Premium Member Thanksgiving Day Blessings For My Children

Lovingly Dedicated to my Precious Angels:

Tammie, Tiger, Lanissa, Dougie and Janene - and of course to all of my other adoptive angels too!

Thanksgiving Day Blessings For My Children

So thankful for the blessings
Of my five beautiful children
My truly precious angels
All were sent from heaven
Yes, even my stepdaughter is
An equal gift from God above
She completely fills my heart
And carries all this momma love
Looking back at my childhood
It was the best time growing up
I never dreamed it could be better
Until I received the gifts of mom luck
At that point in time
I devoted my entire life
To raising my children
No matter what the strife
I worked so many jobs raising them
Periodically three to four at a time
Even the tiniest moments we shared
Are forever memorable in my mind
I treated each and every moment
As if it was the best time found
To show my children just how
To bounce the joy all around
Now even down to the youngest
Of my grandchildren do know
All the favorite things I cherish
That makes my heart glow
Happiness, dancing, singing
Smiles, nature, balance, peace and rocks
All filled with mountains of love
And I really do mean lots
The most glorious feeling in the world
Is at this very moment - it’s so true
As I think of how all of my children
Pass the same to their loved ones too
It certainly is a good thing
I’m gifted with a big family
To pass the joy all around
To any others they may see
It has been worth all the struggles
And the bumpy roads I’ve been through
To reach this glorious moment in time
Where will the next 56 years take me to
Love and joy are the seeds of inspiration
Those gifts that God sends to me
I kind of wonder if anyone
Could ever be happier than me
As I wait for them to all to arrive
To celebrate this Thanksgiving Day
I am counting all my blessings in thanks
Because this really is the best day
I really do wish happiness
For everyone else too
But for me, all I can say is
Hallelujah and whooo-hooo!

Premium Member Genuine True Love Sighting

Dedicated to: Evgeniya & Constantine

Genuine True Love Sighting

Just felt like I had to share
A few thoughts that I wrote
Of how you both inspire me
So this is a thank you note

Now first I will tell you
A few things about me
With a brief description
And a little bit of history

Been divorced five times
Raised my children on my own
Working several jobs at a time
And now they are all grown

With sixteen grandchildren
And another one on the way
I’m filled with many blessings
And most thankful each day

I carry a cheerful attitude
Keeping on the sunny side
Try to always help others
And most rules I do abide

There is just one little thing
In this life I wasn’t certain of
If there could possibly really be
Two people who share true love

Every once in a blue moon
I’ve caught a glimpse or two
Of some couples who appear
To be carrying love that’s true

My hopes have stayed high
For there to be a possibility
That true love really exists
Maybe even one day for me

Then the day finally came
When I saw the both of you
Walking together hand in hand
With a genuine joy shared by two

You both shined so brightly
Initially it was a big surprise
Then many more times again
I could hardly believe my eyes

I knew I had to say something
So I could let you both know
How much you encouraged me
With true happiness that shows

Today I saw you both again
When I drove down the alley
As you sat on that yellow bench
Laughing together so happily

I stopped for just a moment
As a smile grew on my face
To catch a view of two people
Enjoying each other’s space

You do share something special
A relationship of the right kind
That genuine true love together
Most people are searching to find

Some people never really find it
And some will never even try
Some never knew they had it
Until it has slipped right on by

Never let go of what you have
Just hold on through eternity
Because that’s what true love
Is genuinely supposed to be

Premium Member The Empty Rib Slot

Dedicated to all of the guys who helped me to make this checklist that leads me to find the exact empty rib slot to where I fit, …. (as it is written in the Bible scripture of Genesis 2:22) thanks!

The Empty Rib Slot

I think I might have
A perfect checklist
Highlights from men
Gathered now missed

Yes special highlights
Each man carried some
Now added to my checklist
For a guy having it all in one

This could be the key to find
The man I’m dreaming of
Not with bits and pieces
One filled full of love

A man made for me
No it would be not
I should fit perfectly
Into an empty rib slot

Let me share this list
With every one of you
Then decide for yourself
If it could possibly be true

My first check comes from
This guy with dreamy eyes
He deeply touched my soul
Way more than ever realized

He even had a special smile
That made you want to grin
No matter if life was down
He encouraged me to win

There was the big hugger
With squeezes oh so tight
He lifted me off the floor
Like if I was taking flight

He never did grow tired
Of giving me those hugs
I never had to ask for them
He always did it out of love

Then there was the dancer
He stayed light on his feet
He loved dancing with me
Carrying rhythm and a beat

Now of course on this list
There certainly has to be
That best friend I count on
Who can also count on me

I am even going to count
The good points of quality
Generated from my brothers
And even from my daddy

From them they all carry
A very good temperament
Always being so easy going
Not looking for an argument

When I am nestled in that slot
With a perfect feel of passion
All of his glory will then shine
As it eludes from my reflection

The most important one of all
He who shares a spiritual side
Being spiritually open with me
Not allowing his beliefs to hide

I know how this all may sound
Like a crazy thing that I’ve got
I want the man I fit snuggly with
When I match his empty rib slot
