“It’s in there!”
The frizzy haired woman insisted with mirth in her eye.
“But, how?”
I asked beseechingly.
She gave a mischievous laugh from impish lips in reply
And then skipped merrily on her way.
The most precious thing I ever lost
Contained in a small puzzle box?
Ridiculous!
I paused.
No, I knew what the lady said to be true.
I could hear the enchanted object
Whispering to me
In an unfamiliar language
That my heart somehow understood.
I was missing a precious commodity.
Something very special.
My memory could only see vague outlines.
However, I was confident
A magnificent treasure
Lied within the small chest.
Now focused,
The mystery of unlocking the chest came naturally.
With greedy eagerness
I quickly opened that which held me back
From my forgotten prize.
And . . .
The chamber was empty
Save a simple unframed mirror
Taped to the inside of the lid.
I remembered the woman with a playful smile
And thought,
“Is this a woeful attempt at a joke?!”
I started to seethe
And my face began to contort
Then I saw my reflection.
Memories of loss
Due to anger, regret, and missed opportunities
Cascaded into my mind.
Were these my most precious valuables?
Did I now consider these thoughts so I could make changes?
Or did I recall them to realize that they made me who I am today?
Both or neither!
It didn’t matter.
It was simply the past
On which I didn’t dwell.
Again enraged,
I shook myself from my stupor,
tore the mirror from its place,
and threw it shattering to the ground.
“So, it was a trick.” I grumbled.
And was just about to curse
when a glint from box caught the corner of my eye.
Upon closer examination,
Behind where the looking glass once stood,
Was a simple etching that pierced me with a penitent knife.
“I heart Jenny”
Jenny.
Jennifer.
My sister who passed away
When I was the simple age of five.
A beautiful brown haired brown eyed teenager
With a kind smile and the most incredible soul.
Cancer.
Had it really been over four decades?
Too few memories and too little recollection over the years.
Now, I recalled.
Feelings as much as details.
Love and peace.
I made a commitment to myself.
To never lose sight of that which was most important again.
Scouts probe territory for nest site
Scour cracks, crevices that invite
Search cavity for any structural blight
Recon area for creatures that fright
Examination complete, return to hive
Inform workers about potential, new dive
Caucusing, new consensus to derive
Coalescing, to other bees send vive
Scouts guide colony to new location
Formulating comb workers new vocation
From honey extract new colation
Emanating, waxy cells new station
In upper cells honey will pour
Underneath, pollen laid in store
Below, worker, drone broods bore
At base Queen pods do gore
Queen lays eggs in every assigned spore
Hatchling larvae from nest now implore
Nursing becomes workers new chore
Feeding every beckoning pore
Workers seal chambers with waxy mortar
Larvae evolves into pupae in short order
Days later, fledglings chew through pasty border
Forthwith, become queen's new warder
After tending queen, receive new commission
Guards protect domicile from every imposition
Drones mate with the queen at every petition
Foragers busy themselves with pollen acquisition
Popular Mozart melodies are playing on a low loop.
Five people tense as a clinic nurse
calls us in or leaves us hanging.
I know the drill,
she’ll lead me reluctantly to the scales,
the usual sighs of ritual humiliation;
“Are you 6 foot” she inquires
looking at the chart skeptically.
I don’t tell her that for the last 10 years
I have been shrinking while my bull neck
sinks lower, torpedoed by a laptop navy.
In the Doctors examination room
I slump worry and hum.
I know I will be there for a while,
long enough for me to scribble this poem down
in a dollar store notepad.
Back home I will spell-check every other word -
my mind was on a lump in my gullet, but it’s okay,
after much examination
the doctor declared that I have a bone in my throat
unknown to medical science;
at first she thought it might be a chicken bone
but it waggles only when I talk
and spins when I write.
Apparently there are strings attached to it,
something is pulling at that little bone.
When x-rayed it dances a jig
as if to entertain.
I’m still waiting for a second opinion
though I must admit I am enjoying
being the unidentified voice
of my muses little finger.
The Sacrament of Penance (Confession) is a Sacrament in which the sins committed after Baptism are forgiven
The Sacrament of Penance or Confession remits sins and restore the friendship of God to the soul by means of the absolution of the priest
I know the priest has power of absolving from the sins committed after Baptism, because Jesus Christ granted the power to the priests of His Church when He said: “Received ye the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them, whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.”
The priest of the Church exercise the power of forgiving sins by hearing a confession of sins, and granting pardon for them as ministers of God and in His name.
To receive the sacrament worthily, we must do 5 things:
• We must examine our conscience (Write down your sins committed not to forget them)
• We must have sorrow for our sins
• We must make a firm absolution never more to offend God
• We must confess our sins to the priest
• We must accept the penance which the priest given us
The examination of conscience we should pray to God to give us light to know our sins and grace to detest them.

Twisted thoughts occur
a cadaver is laid down on a cold dissecting table;
to study all about life, an anatomist ponders
which organ to be excised for examination without bias
he decided to use a median value of the life
from normal curve within +/-1 sigma area
after a thorough examination of the body
the anatomist who is still breathing decided to excise the heart,
which never was stopped until the cadaver breathed his last breath;
and the brain’s layer after layers of good and bad memories, caused from good and evil thoughts or his behavior while he was alive
inside his heart was contaminated from all kinds of waste
and that’s why it made difficulty in breathing; on the surface,
so many big and small cut outs and stab wounds all overshadowed
by the immorality of the mundane world it makes you want to turn
your face away from it
the brain is no difference, after chopping the skull, the anatomist carefully pulled the brain out, unfolded and examined every nook and corner of the brain. the connected cobweb-like thought’s narrow passageway consisting from all kinds of chemistry symbols; it was, found to be a lump of fossilized DNA so fragile that just a little touch of the hand would make it crumble
at the time when the pulverized fossil blown in the air
carried by a gust of wind, started to release an overpowering
stench so disgusting that nauseates the sniffer; however, as you sniff more
and more, it becomes sweeter and finally enraptured the sniffer.
and after all the mysterious aroma thus becomes powerful enough
to delude you into pretense that you bear a charmed life, thereby
dragging you to stand at the edge of a deadly cliff
if a day of life is entangled with so much oddity and complication,
there won’t be any better and simple life beyond death,
yet the grotesquely structured brain wanted to look into
the world beyond as ever
Me, a playful kid never bothered for rank,
always considered all school exams as fun.
Not engaged in study, but most of time sank
in doing menace and playing in the Sun.
Sure to miss high rank in Examination,
when in fifth standard : Bad luck, just by one mark.
Me , extremely shocked without consolation.
Seemed it , as injustice to me, getting jerk.
Became determined to stand First on next year.
Succeeded ! Showed report to Dad being loud.
Delighted Dad hugged me tight, telling , " My Dear,
" Your success matters more than mine, I'm so proud."
Later life, I felt exact same emotion :
Success of my children got prominence.
Their achievements brought blissful satisfaction :
My performances have just lost importance.
I'm outside looking in,
Through a window sealed and barred.
I watch as you're mistaken;
As your conscience becomes callous, marred.
Hitting. Pounding.
I tire myself trying to warn.
Screaming. Shouting.
This situation is so forlorn.
I watch you go.
Their life, you choose to pursue.
Inching closer to death row,
You acquire bad habits - more than a few.
The reality of reality settles in -
You're caught on their hook.
It pierces like a pin...
In utter disgrace and horrified pain, down I look.
On the ground lies a mirror.
Momentarily, I forget your sin.
Although broken, it's picture couldn't have been clearer.
That's when the SELF examination was destined to begin.
The bloodshot eyes.
The battered hands.
Refusal from a stubborn voice.
These are the things I noticed foremost.
As I look harder,
The pieces come together; My vision becomes clear.
I see I was YOUR martyr.
It was FOR you I lived in fear.
It's time I pronounce my creed.
Stop neglecting my needs.
To bandage these hands.
To indulge in RIGHTEOUS greed.
Form:
Here, this day, on this inglorious
Field
Thy vain struggles will count no
Valour.
All hope now abandoned,
Imminent defeat unconcealed;
Erstwhile countenance display
Such waxen, languid pallor.
Surround by your dwindling
Forces
Ye will but sadly find...
That the stout keep of your
Valiant fortress is all but breached,
Once strong foundations failing -
Wherest badly undermined!
For a rigorous examination beckons
ye;
Stood before impassioned jurors
Chosen from the feared and all
Powerful families of the ignoble
Medici.
Black curtains drawn back from
Deep reveals
That look out over the enlightened
Years...
Where conceals...
Hidden between leafs of peremptory
Decree:-
A blight spread upon these lands,
Inflicted from Romes insidious
Plans -
That cause stain upon the
Renaissance of a golden century!
When clapping thunder breaks and
Brazen lightening clashes
Still I would know ye again:
A pounding, frenzied reflex devoid
Of all Godly purpose -
Detached from any amount of
Blame!
For I have sought ye out, O lowly
Meretrix;
Heaping upon you with bondage
Enforced through servitude and
Shame;
And I, O lowly Meretrix,
I...hereby command thy name.
A fastidious Advocate of intellectual
Character
Shallst I elect,
He who be a practitioner of
Theological proposal unrefrained,
To represent you -
Raised from the rank files of the
Dead and slain!
A public gallery, wherest seated,
Ghostly phantasms
That I purposefully select;
And for a judge - A deathly one:
Ill measured, worshipfully detached,
Beneath it all,
And hopelessly arcane.
This "Innocent" fool, dressed in
Guise of highest ecclesiastical
Enforcer,
Perpetuated a medieval Inquisition,
Both protracted and prolonged,
That openly boasted and rejoiced
In its zealous slaughter!
Thereby spawned a terrible edict -
"Ad Extirpanda":-
Cannon law that advocates the
Use of "Legitimate torture"!
Know thee also, Meretrix, the Pius
Pontiff,
Heaven sent,
Who in his greater wisdom
Convened over
The council of Trent:
Four hundred years spanning
Across a Reformations fears;
Reaffirmed when Pope John,
In reflective reiteration,
Was heard to chillingly hiss:
"What was...Still is"!
