Like a Prayer

Inspired by a moving storyline. May our prayers and beliefs guide our lives and life purpose. Life can be challenging. But love, hope and faith are powerful beyond human understanding. Stay blessed and take care.

Like a prayer
By Michelle Morris
22/07/2023

Like a prayer to the Lord
In supplication I bow my head
So many thoughts in my mind
I'm trying to pacify the dread

Every day is another struggle
To embrace Fate and Destiny's collision
Observing in slow motion
But impossible to prevent its friction

Talking to God and His Angels
Answers to questions being asked
They want me to be strong
Not accept any defeat or harm

We cannot presume to know
What the Universe ultimately desires
We must valiantly play our part
And focus on our learning spirals

Like a prayer we speak to Heaven
Powerful and eternal lessons entwine
May we be blessed for evermore
Experiencing our divinity through time

Spiritually Etched

A heart once warm
now lies heavy.
Cold as stone,
a weight
I almost treasure.
Upon this rock
lies etchings,
Etchings which hold
your memory close
to me twenty four hours a day;
seven days a week;
to eternity.
My mind aches;
so hard to hold my head up.
Sadness.
Such gloom around me,
as I constantly
try to hold each memory
of every moment
I've spent with you.
Happiness
is a thing of my past.
It's time now
as I feel healing
of some of those pains,
to go forward;
create a life
of my own once more.
Respectful of your presence,
I know armed
with your loving spirit
beside me
we can build greater things.
Hold  me fast
I ask and pray,
that one day
you'll carry me
over new threshold
bringing greater enlightenment
to new ways
yet unknown to me.
The time has come,
great changes loom
and your presence
will guide me
in helping others
see there way through too.
Let my eyes be yours,
let my spirit pour out
your love evermore.

I Am a Raven

Crafty, conniving, sly and stately,
I am associated with dead and lost souls,
An ominous bird of yore spawning myths and legends,
A messenger of deities in the mortal world,
I am a wily mediator between life and death--
Dreaded but revered nonetheless!

I showed Cain how to bury his murdered brother, Abel,
Perched on the shoulder of the god, Odin,
A royal resident of the Tower of London,
I hobnob with sorcerers and saints
with monarchs and mendicants;
With beady eyes and lustrous ebony plumage
I am mantled in a grave aura of foreboding.

Take heed when I fly across your path,
Perched just above his chamber door
I made Poe fella famous evermore!

Dissolving in Ecstasy

I take leave

facing Awareness alert

showing flowery way Homewards

diffuse rainbows riding fast

           a whispering shoreline

           blood becomes water

           bones skin nails hair lips

           Spirit sailing soars

            I lived a full life of laughter

           all praise to God’s Great Love

           weep not for me

           now or evermore !

Tale of the Forgiving Betold

Albeit a notable stretch
that stars wouldst a fairer
share of thee and sheath
thy warm expanse.

Sire, alack thy humble
servant beseech thee,
me Lord, for wouldst
thee taketh to mind
thoust faileth thee but
'tis once at the weest hour.

Shouldst thou beg
the goddesses and
gods forthwith 'tis
thy noble quest for
virtue sake that thou
mayest risk a stable
footing verily proved
thy acts of decency.

Pall's errant gift thee
a habilitating ward,
a silhouette soul, its
quaint steps for a
merciful fortitude.

To seize caring eyes
fortuitous event of
a chartreuse field
of wavery rushes
and vibrancy pell
in crystalline spring.

A dutiful life longing
begrudged in the
greens of Evermore,
mayhaps thoust dwelt
in the recesses of thy
bosoms for they hadst
possesseth thee so
willingly, that thoust
act gently.

Nay, nary an army,
soothly a herald of
dreams that unlade
trails ifsoe'er mingle
charmingly, napping
in cases, perchance
to claim and rescue
thyself and possibly
pretenders begone
and ne'er-do-wells
that causeth a toss
and twirl fortuitously
erelong into the tuck
of episodic twilight's
unraveling sepulchral.

Sparkled specks and a
Chaser to settle scores
natheless thou mentored
souls that dwarf a sea of
their gilded hearts.

Less of a challenge when
substance, and grit, amidst
the generous few whose
serendipitously perpetuates
the moment -- forthwith.

Suite melody be the appeal
in the case of forgiveness
for there is proper cause for
the bestowment allocation
gratuitously and without
delay.

Forbearance is the footing
lain the acts of forgiveness.

A plethora of blessings has come to me
in a deviation from the norm.
I have been enlightened with all I see.
A light rain has become a storm.

The words fall like precipitation.
They fill my poetic chalice.
An amount surpassing computation
now flows within my palace.

The words have burgeoned into a universal expanse.
It is a vast territory to explore.
Like a large troupe, they come to dance.
in greater amounts than I had known before.

A passive foray has become an obsession.
It is presently what I live for.
An amassed fortune is in my possession.
May it continually stream for evermore.

I STEP down from the boardwalk and into a land moved by the forces of the universe.

I feel the earth move under my feet as I walk on mountains crushed to grains of sand by these forces and the passing of time since the birth of planet Earth.

Ringing in my ears, beating in my heart, running through my veins - the thunder of an ancient drum as the ocean rises and falls to the will of the wind.

I mark my passing with footprints in the sand while my mind empties itself of everything but this moment.

 I walk toward a purple line in the distance, yearning to know what is there...yearning to touch it.

I lean against a warm wind that blows away the ribbons from my hair and all the troubles of a world gone mad.

~~~
Moment-by-moment... time becomes a thing of the past as I reach for that purple line.
On and on and on - I walk to the beat of that ancient drum - through the wind and ocean brine - through the setting of the sun -  ON AND ON AND ON. Still,  its seems I'm no closer to that line.
~~~

As the moon begins to rise, I turn back.
~~~
My morning footprints have all disappeared. The forces of the universe have erased  every trace,  I was ever here.
I STOP... and look up at the moon and all the  uncountable stars that hang there ... motionless among the endless galaxies, over an ocean now at rest.
AND IN THIS MOMENT... I AM  ONE WITH ALL THERE IS...AS I STARE INTO
THE FACE OF GOD.
Looking through frosted glass of windows' sorrowed pain I who
Reflects upon the frozen condensation in the shelter of my mind
Delight that there are crystals on the panel which refract the joy
On the grace bestowed upon me by hindsight observation glare
I do not always have to see what takes place behind the screen of
Time and reason well beyond my grasp and am contained within
The wind brushes against the frame outside and yet holds firm
Its paint has flaked but still reveals the layers of abundant paint
Where coats of varnish cover ageing primers glossing over fissures
Hinges are in need of rust converter and some lubricant although
A bit of grinding jambs on closure reminds me that I hear the sound
That reaches feelings and emotions when my moods begin to jar
I marvel at the crack that gives a certain kind of resilient contours
Which shaped my seasoned soul and tested skills and renovation
So far eluded the need for triple glazing double vision and repair
A spider though renewed its work and spun a web from musky curtains
To shutters up and down and weaved a fragile net quite unperturbed
Flies have lost their battle and I am grateful that I have not been caught
There was temptation to wipe the slate and surface clean and polish
Instead I take crayons out of the box and scribble on adjoining walls
I watch the canvass unfold and listen to the sound of scripted passion
Very soon what is called graffiti or artistic pleasure gives an easy glimpse
Into my heart soul and innermost desires careful not to hold my breath
Keeps some distance though because my exhalation could disturb the scene
Dusk settles quickly and I pull up my socks and wrap up in a knitted blanket
Put another log on the fire to kindle warmth and thoughts among the cold
The candle on the mantlepiece flickers kindly and grants a soft glow evermore
Looking through a frosted glass enhances rather than obscures all of my senses
Gives me the precious freedom to decide which side I'm on when evening falls
Now I can smell the crispy touch and taste of verglas and look out for silence
My Chronic Companion
Oh my painful friend, Here you come again,
Like a broken record, that we are going to dance to again,
What would I do without you dragging me down,
What would my life be like without a constant breakdown,
Would I have achieved all my goals and dreams,
I'd be living in a state of utopia it seems,
Full of happiness, health and glowing beams,
Would I have been successful would I have won,
How i like to wonder what women I'd of become,
Yet here you are again my old faithful pain friend,
Shall we dance on the floor just once more the usual trend,
Please tell me how long do you plan to stay around,
How long must you drag me along this gravel ground,
I'm listening, you have my full attention of course,
Its impossible to ignore you, when you hit me full force,
As I curl up in a tight ball,
Trapped by you friend your tight thrall,
Will you haunt me forevermore,
Hanging in the shadows haunting evermore,
Like a  serpent waiting lurking but ready to strike,
Just a single venemous bite you dont no pain alike,
Each of your visits renders me immobile,
But my screams can be heard for a mile,
I sound like I'm dying and I wish I would,
I crave relief from you my chronic companion for good!!!!
