Premium Member Anomie

Written: April 10, 2024 For Edward Ebeh Contest

“Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.”

— Rumi
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In society grasp, individuals fade,
As group dynamics falter, satiation wane.
Anomie is the state in which we reside,
Void of meaning, where shell may subside.
Man dwells in the domain of existence,
Longing for purpose—a tale to share once.
He pursues punter goals, a noble quest,
To descry his sanctuary, where he can rest.
Sans clear vision—a peculiar goal to pursue,
He wanders, devoid of any discernible clue.
A protocol to follow—a structure to defray,
He seeks a clear path to lead the way.
It is in the heights—that he finds his worth,
A divine connection, a sense of rebirth.
In a world of mayhem, where chaos reigns,
A sense of chaos and rebellion in our veins.
We're in an era of disorder and hopelessness,
Where a sense of alienation thrives with idleness.
Streets brimming with an air of dread and fear,
As the supremacy of law is starting to disappear.
A land ruled by untamed and careless,
Peace and order are baffling awareness.
Durkheim unveils a modern, cosmic community,
Where people or teams cease to have impunity,
Stuck in a condition of "anomie," they dwell,
Devoid of crucial social interactions, they tell.
An individual, adrift, follows a restless tide,
Planless self-empowerment with no guide.
An aimless existence, devoid of worth,
As delight lies in future, not in present berth.
One ought to consider their inevitable fate.
The insignificance and loneliness state.
He would undoubtedly elapse insane.
Or spirit might seek the numbing arcane.
Crisis and violence, madness untamed,
Revolution's fire, the world inflamed.
In sync with events of insignificance.
Unleashed automobility, a hedonistic dance,
Individualism allure, a tempting chance,
Grip of anomie and despair erodes at a glance.
Conspicuous consumption, a fleeting thrill,
Yet unsustainable, bear beyond, still.
In a sphere bereft of spirit light,
Where meaning fades—hope takes flight.
An oddity exists in trans-political time frame,
There is no repercussion for deviance claim.
Premium Member Unforgivable Freedom
Our severe pain is unforgivable at eternal night.
I twist over, my brain hustling with mystic insight.
Cries made me exuberantly sad, letting my sting.
I felt bound that could never be fit of stirring.
Your gloomy yell penetrates the serene quietness.
Leastwise, I realized you'd befall a whiner pitiless.
You've arrived at my most prominent gateway.
Once again, it roused me up, as it had all sultry day.
I let forward a puncturing shout of agony.
Once again, I will not scorn the cease eagerly.
And reject the thoughts mugging my reasoning.
Grasp my once-living voguish is promptly dying.
The blade was in a distinct area to my brawny arms.
Reverberations of our ultimate hug hang my eyes.
Such much sorrow stuffed into a cramped space.
And all I lack is to regain a place in the audience.
I'd wisely prefer seeing genuine compassion.
Except for me, everyone is in repletion.
Afterward, why are you pounding on my door?
I was dodging, similar to the mild night before.
I'm going to have you removed right away.
It happened as soon as it was made defray
My supplications and asks for salvage were unmet.
I'm mindful of our dreadful period once onset.
How random do you admit your mentality?
But voicing regret isn't enough in this vicinity.
Remember me for a type of contact with you.
Sorry for the hassle, yet my choice is too true.
It was vital for me to do what I did.
I couldn't stay with you anymore; I want a slid.
I needed to awaken and concede my misstep.
That you'd follow me until the night with no pep.
We can scarcely improve anything right yet.
And I must say I'm right from the outset.
For the time term, "I'm apologetic" will not vow.
You've broken my soul and granted me a bow.
You can't undo the wrongs you've done.
You didn't opine over what you shun.
You had the only choice but to perform this.
But our relationship has cooled an abyss.
Can't you consider your acts have altered you?
Supporting for my freedom to cognition blew.
However, it needed lasting by till ends survival.
Rusty mind that deadly sins were unforgivable.
Shopping At Wal-Mart
Shopping at Wal-Mart
By Elton Camp
Worse economic woes could be in store
So I watch what I spend as never before
And that is now the principal reason why
That our Wal-Mart is where I usually buy
At that place, I find very little I can praise,
Except that it’s true, “Low Prices Always”
And I can even understand the reasons why
Their own store brands they urge me to buy
But if saving money wasn’t any object at all
At a much nicer store I would prefer to call
One that would help me get out to my car
And closer parking so I don’t walk so far
At an establishment where the clerk tries
To help me find what’s in my own size
Where checkout lines don’t reach the wall
And my money is taken without any stall
Where the employees don’t give a blank stare
And about giving good service, show they care
A place where they carry the quality brands
Rather than having mainly the unknown cans
And in a building where I don’t walk a mile
From the entrance to the milk and bread aisle
To a pharmacy where they don’t close for lunch
So they can eat together—the whole bunch
To a business that doesn’t look for a cheater
With a person in the guise of a store greeter
One that beggars at the entrance won’t allow
Who try to milk me like I am some cash cow
As soon as I approach the door, they begin
And when I am trying to leave, do it again
“Please give to the cause near to my heart.
So that doing our new project we can start.”
If I could afford extra money to give away
It sure wouldn’t be costs like that I’d defray
As I drive out of the enormous parking lot
I wish I could afford a better shopping spot
Grip the Grifter
There’s a high-class hobo drifter
bumming rides throughout the land
Grip the Grifter ...
watch it society women, don’t shake his hand!
If Grip get a hold of your purse money,
he ain’t letting go
Grip talks fast
Grip remembers slow
Yesterday to him
was a glacial year ago
Grip walks with a fake limp
Grip give promises like an honest pimp
Grifter Grip talk green acres all the time;
pie-in-the-sky, milk and honey sunshine
Grip sez he gon set you up nicely:
steaks and bourbon, satin and lace
But, he always seems to need a ten spot from you,
and a ride to his other place
Grip gon spin it good and long,
sing that “hey, my brother” unity song
Grip always gon keep the details short,
tell you his inside woman was a mole,
so he had to abort
And the investment money
never made it out the safety deposit box womb
But, that’s alright, Grip sez:
he’s gon double your return with interest, real soon
Just front him another Benjamin
to help defray the lease rent
With a hand held out, Grip vows
it's only a temporary cash flow pinch
Con has such a peculiar liquidity stench
Grip loves froggy jumping into defraud waters
Sly licking himself, the Grifter sez
with a lewd lip bent and lurid tongue intent:
“Every sucker needs a good grifter devil sent”
Premium Member My Hardened Heart
Throughout my life the bridges crossed
so many times I’ve loved and lost
as hopes and dreams were used and tossed;
my hardened heart had paid the cost.
I felt as though I couldn’t go on;
a darkness loomed at break of dawn;
my hopes and dreams forever gone;
I felt my heart was but a pawn.
Remove the hardness of my heart
 that’s not where it belongs;
 replace it with your tenderness,
  and sing to me your songs.
To my surprise one sunny day
a gentle spirit came my way;
an angel sent from far away
to ease my heart, its aches defray.
A southern voice so soft and sweet,
just like a bluebird’s morning tweet;
a song with such a gentle beat,
to sweep my spirit off its feet.
Remove the hardness of my heart
 that’s not where it belongs;
 replace it with your tenderness,
 and sing to me your songs.
And now my sun is shining bright,
my heart no longer bears the blight
of hardness felt in dark of night;
now deep within I feel love’s light.
Premium Member A New Page
The old page has been crammed, used up and torn
Its million pieces scattered, tossed out in the wind
Each beautiful memory reserved; errors, I rescind
Not worthy of preservation, keenly I did burn
Memories of a few special ones who conferred love
With stunning new “songs” enriching my life
They live in me, as they were sent from above
Forever in my heart until the end of all strife!
A new page lies open, crisp, and fresh as morning dew!
Like a child, I am curious of what will be written today
That is so deliberate, unfair, and that would not do
For I trust my Maker; whose gifts require no defray
And I’ve made no new resolutions, no promises I can not keep
Instead, will try living each day in the spirit; a higher place
To praise, love, laugh, dance; yes, cry, when paths turn steep
Strive to be joyful not by my will; surely by divine grace
Premium Member A Wake on the Night Before Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas, and insomnia befell,
No creature was stirring, but my thoughts are pell-mell.
Would the family squabbles and feuds come with the cheer?
Would I have to drown them out, with too much beer?
The smile and wave diversion has limited worth?
How long can my mirth defray my feeling good dearth?.
I flit like a butterfly, I sting like a bee.
But, my hands can't hit what my eyes can't see.
It's all so jovial, with all folks tongues tied.
Letting slip barbs tongue-in-cheek that lied.
Lips forced into clenched fist clamped smiles.
With forget-me-knots shrouded as wait-a-whiles.
The reindeers were laughing, stopping on the roof,
as I downed another draught of whiskey high-proof.
A hangover is a sure-fire cure to help me cope,
with the downhill slide to the slippery slope.
'Twas the night before Christmas, and I'm awake,
fearing the family feud sparring earthquake.
My mind is churning over past disputes, give-and-take,
and how to avoid ruining the day with a silly mistake.
Premium Member Can'T Beat the System
`They say if a good deed you do every day
`It will in deed repay for love will pave the way
`Some say and do not a famous prophet did say
`Hoping to beat the system, but there is hell to pay
`Many who walk not in love their relations do fray
`Many a marriage crumbles, turns children’s lives gray
`We reap as we have sown, and death will repay
`We burn bridges behind, make war and we slay
`We blame all on Satan, but it’s our hating clay
 `I’ll do my good deeds, sow good seeds and pray
`A prayer, a good deed a day, keeps bad at bay
`Good deeds, good seeds, every day love will thus weigh
`We ask, we have not asking in vain of nay
`We live strife on puppet strings of ballet
`We feed on worldly evil  like it’s a buffet
`We judge condemning ourselves to decay
`We lust and we scold, growing old of defray
`Our evil dazzles us, surrounds in array
`It is Love’s horse power we hook behind shay
`We trust not love’s will gives a better day!!
The Gone-Bye Days
The colour emitting flowers blowing on the delicate bough
The music of the chirping of birds floating in the air
 The nightingale’s eulogy of roses melting hearts tough
The perfume of love illuminating minds and soul’s cheer
The endless array of enchanting memories of your love and caress
Restoring peace and tranquility to a devastated soul in a sway
Clouds of desolation brightened with memories of your effervesce
Your bright eyes taking the darkness and despair of my life away
The buds turning into colourful roses have all withered away
The delightful garden of life turned into a lifeless heap of dirt
The despairing life, for a single smile, exorbitant cost defray
The enchanting music of the chirping birds no longer divert.
The serene breeze of captivating memories chill my burning soul
The colourful withered flowers resurrect and return life’s glow
Revisits the youthful exuberant me that despair once stole
And a ray of lethal arrows flung out of the cupid’s bow
