Premium Member Mother's Aprons

I remember so well the calico aprons that my Mother wore.
She made them from feed sacks that Father needed no more.
She wore them mainly to keep her pretty dresses pristine,
But she found so many other uses for them in her daily routine.

She used them to gather eggs from the henhouse nests,
And to shoo from her garden, crows and other such pests.
Toted in an apron were apples plucked fresh from the trees.
They were used for collecting pods after shelling peas.

Flowers from her garden filled the apron for pretty bouquets.
It held clothes pins to hang clothes for drying on laundry days.
Aprons were used as a receptacle when snapping green beans,
And to gather a batch of lettuce for a salad of tasty greens.

Many times her apron wiped tears from a little boy's eyes,
And wiped her furrowed brow when baking cakes and pies.
They were dandy for last-minute dusting before company arrived.
Without her apron, I don't know how Mom would've survived!

It seems that ladies no longer need an apron to wear themselves,
Since food can be readily snatched from nearby grocery shelves.
An apron is seldom worn by domestic engineers nowadays,
Since tossing supper in a microwave to heat is now the craze!

Puzzle pieces
Random allure;
Fleeting fix

~~~~~~~~~
Joy wears a smile
Love shows up;
Double happiness charms
~~~~~~~~~

Wit greets wonder
Cheery chat styles;
Sake eloquence

~~~~~~~~~
Wonder works wit
Fancy finds form;
Glimpses greet
~~~~~~~~~

Love wears a smile
Joy in fond bliss;
Hearts in-sync

~~~~~~~~~
Mellow feels nice
Wonder meets surprise;
Calm countenance
~~~~~~~~~

Cryptic craze
Mindful maze;
Deep daze

~~~~~~~~~
Lovely face
Smiles illuminate;
Darling dear
~~~~~~~~~

Distant detours
Too much thinking;
Be still here

~~~~~~~~~
Deep breaths
Calm choice;
In and out
~~~~~~~~~

Lusty lures
Too much distractions;
Seize glimpses

~~~~~~~~~
Knowing
Seeing;
No-Thing
Sonnet 4
The night that breeds dark clouds of rankling dolour
Within azure sky of my mind’s great earth,
Delusive affection of thine enlivened fervour,
Of joy of life and lustre triggers dearth.
Thou rememb’rest those fragrant ways trodden,
Back i’th’ longest journey where spring ablaze
Laid the flowers blown down the wood and burden
Our lives like memories galore in craze.
O Fair! Let me know what paineth thee
Such sheer that thou afflictest thy lord.
Bleak is his heart, contriving ‘nother plea,
It haileth thy love to set the erstwhile concord.
However far thou fleest inflicting pain,
Shalt still thou find a peerless love of no stain.
Premium Member Pathway Home
This mortal world feels like a maze;
Times and seasons in clouds of haze;
The pathway home a blurry daze.
This tedious swirl feels long and tough;
Moods and reasons scream strain and rough;
The pathway home like dreamy stuff.
This spacious twirl feels cold and bare;
Mind and body conscript bleak fare;
The pathway home floods loaded cares.
This anguished hurl feels torn and bleak;
Heart and soul see desires that streak;
The pathway home a trail made weak.
The passage here feels sad with pain;
Fierce winds of change pierce and constraint;
The pathway home a glimpse of gain.
The moments dear feels like a dream;
Dreamer of fear feels taunt and scheme;
The pathway home a squandered dream.
The highway pulse feels like a hint;
Dreamer awakes to a new mint;
The pathway home a jaded tint.
The wise impulse feels like a craze;
Weird ideas urge to charm and daze;
The pathway home: labyrinth maze!
Premium Member I Can Resist You
Don’t even try to woo me
I can resist you
My mind is fortified
Reason screams reasons to be careful
Caution goes off in flares
My mind is alert
Aware
I can resist you
Oh, but my body
My body plays traitor...
My eyes adore you….
they take in every detail
of your face
your body
every contour and muscle
every masculine trait of virility
Your lips…my eyes linger on your lips
And make love to them……
My eyes speak surrender
My hands tremble
and give me away
I clasp them together…tight
knuckles white
For in another minute
they would escape and seek sanctuary on your body
Caressing your cheeks, your chin
they would travel down your neck
feeling the protruding strength as you swallow
they would take ecstatic trips across the expanse of your chest
Finally moving around your waist to pull you in
My teeth bite my lips
in an effort to keep my tongue imprisoned
for it longs to be unleashed
to run along the lines of your face
to slide on your lips...wetting them with want
making them part
so that it can dip inside your mouth and play
to lose its way
all over your body
I can resist you
My mind is fighting valiantly
to keep my body in check
Oh, but I feel damp desire spread
in the heat of your presence
As you move closer
Looking down into my eyes
I exhale the pent up emotions
brought on by the ripples of anticipation
longing for a touch
that I want so much
and my body's ablaze
this passion craze
Floods my face
rosy red
I can’t look away
and you smile
a warm slow smile
You smile
knowing the battle of mind over body
is about to end
my body will yield
submit in surrender
because your fierce made me tender
And so with the confidence and grace
of a seasoned soldier
you move in for the kill
agile with thrill
you hand tilts my chin up
and your mouth covers mine
smothering the words of protest
the mind has sent as last minute backup
you hold me up
crushed against your enveloping body
as I collapse into your arms
My mind?
prisoner of war
gagged and bound
empty of thought
ravaged by sensations
As you work your way
to your final victory claim
Knowing as you do
That you
Are
irresistible
to
ME
Paranoia
Paranoia
The man that stood next to me
Wore shades
Hidden eyes shielded by the taint
That makes light fade
Invaded space and feelings feint
His blatant eyeless stare
Sears through
With eyes removed to elsewhere
I withdrew
Silent whispering gazes that talk
Inwardly
I watch him vaguely like a hawk
Awkwardly
His mouth is moving with intent
About me
His speech comprises malcontent
Perverts my mind
He’s talking on his mobile phone
I’m being maligned
He moves away, I’m not alone
The talking lips
Proceed to drone upon my shoulder
Losing my grip
And disembodied eyes to make me shudder
He’s here
With shades and talking phone, to gaze
Upon my fear
And in my psyche, eyes and mouth that craze
There’s no escape
From entwined paranoia
And life insane
John Lennon’s Birthday
Today’s John Lennon’s birthday,
Which I knew from teenage days,
When I was part of what became
That magic Beatles craze.
Just yesterday, in Inverness,
I walked by a cafe
Where a sign announced the “Silver Beetles”
Played there in the day.
The year was 1960,
Their first ever on a tour,
But performing a “support act”
And their set list tells us more.
There were 7 songs in total,
Buddy Holly, Elvis, too,
Though no Lennon and McCartneys -
If their young selves only knew!
Now it’s 65 years later,
With my teenage years long gone,
As are John and George, but Paul and Ringo
Live to carry on.
In The Quietest Place
Don't hush me aside, silly babe,
cheat all you want,
do what isn't right
to keep me at a distance:
nobody is better than me;
I offer no jewels, only love...
being true is no pretense:
write our story, turn a new page!
Hang out with me in the quietest place
away from noises, where the only voices
are ours, where all the whispers lead to kisses;
silence brings on intimacy and a state of craze!
I'm a romantic by nature,
whispering sweet words
makes me passionate...
it shows in my deepest emotions;
watching starry skies
changes everything to divine:
surrender to me, ditch those guys!
Whenever the rock music gets very loud,
we should find a quieter place with no crowd,
where people don't sing, scream and dance,
where their minds is only set on romance!
In a quieter place we can find peace,
express many emotions and feelings;
there fireflies sparkle among trees,
there we can get closer to Paradise!
Premium Member Now Once Again
Now once again we meet in time,
Mimes mimic plain the muse that rhymes.
Chimes sweetly strain to tell of fate,
Rhymes usher rain in mellow state.
Here by the way of placid calm,
A brand new day speaks soothing balm.
Now once again the course is set,
Writes utter plain the present bet.
Chimes tell of peace that flavours craze,
Words in crisp ease now sparkle daze.
Here works enchant the way of voice,
Art once begun can fashion poise.
Now once again the mellow mood,
Words cast in pain forge mellow good.
Mimes in verse rhyme can posture well,
Time collects chimes just as words dwell.
Here on the way to charming lift,
Seize thus this day to grow your gift.
Now once again the music streams,
Of truth laid plain that sifts each dream.
Time and space meet the soul in quest,
Soul and heart greet body-mind fest.
Premium Member Jazz
There is bold grace in jazz music,
Sure pulse floods space with touch magic.
Watch the free flow of sonic vibes,
Your soul just knows how zest abides.
Feel how pain moves the inner pulse,
Gyrate with grooves of deep impulse.
Just like the breeze, jazz grips truly,
Snatch a sure squeeze with steps briskly.
There is sleek swing in jazzy spills,
Sync with sheer flings that fest now thrills.
The buzz of life exceeds mere norms,
Glaze beyond strife what surprise forms.
Jazz strides the maze to trace good stuff,
Touch of fond craze harps sure enough.
Piano and string and trumpet sounds,
Jazz music sings plain underground.
