Casanovas slipping into the red-light tangle;
Forbidden fruits, where temptations dangle.
A carousel sequelae of transient fun,
Shoving precious life through a darkened dungeon.
Herpes, a saboteur of life's quality;
Silent falsehoods, pernicious in totality.
Retrovirus tainting the filthy foray—
Courtesan's fate wrapped in tragic dismay.
The French disease, resurging like a dragon,
Greatest mimicker, its curse on the wagon.
An avalanche of despair, harrowing as the Holocaust;
Fleeting morale fulgurates, bruising life's bitter frost.
Relationships crumble, akin to a precarious card cascade—
An insidious monster of misery, lurking like a ticking grenade.
Dire repercussions of the aftermath,
Grueling the innocent's once-quiet path.
Serenading the cognizant wizard,
Salvaging thyself from a tumultuous blizzard.

Cognizant of COVID 19 and its harsh impact
on global welfare it has seriously attacked
midst health threats with economic sabotage as grievous fact…
we pray: Oh, God, enable us so we can with Your peace, rightfully react.
Gripped by this novel pandemic
causing us to fear, worry, and panic
leading hearts to become pathetic or pessimistic…
we ask: Oh God, intensify our hope as we trust You to heal* the sick.
Trusting Your supreme hand over global changes and every country
believing Your omniscience upon signs of times in world history
acknowledging Your perfect will against this current misery…
we trust You oh, God, to keep us shielded inside Your compassion’s victory.
Exposed to separation-angst of those fellows within “lockdown”
witnessing community quarantine for affected city and town
experiencing difficulties brought by this virus with so-called crown…
we plead: Oh, God, uphold our faith; cheer us midst our frown.
Informed, warned and educated to stay calm above this grim reality
vanquishing fake news, but spreading kindness, marked by sincerity
intensifying hygienic practice for safety beyond selfish purity…
we cling to You, oh, God Who is control of the situation by Your sovereignty.
*2Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Nature's Treasures
She sees their crowns had impressively grown
Taller than the obelisk now merely ancient stone
Deepest green like emeralds set on her mystic ring
Forever cognizant and nurtured by a life-giving spring
A gentle presence caresses leaves fervently breathing
Reaching toward heaven imbibing celestial blessing
Over her heart a talisman deciphers cryptic rune
Trees are endowments from beyond the moon
Without trees and grasses fostered by a star...
Planet Earth may inevitably mirror God of War!

NOW WHIZ THE MOMENT TO PREPARE TO SCRUTINIZE
MY WRITTEN ATTEMPT AND HOPE MY OFFERTORY
DISTINCT FROM OTHER GALS N GUYS.
thankful to enjoy genesis of thoughts
from whence doth spring germ
of an idea, that either takes root
(exhibiting potential to live with
arms strong) when just a tender
vulnerable shoot (ephemeral as notes
issuing from a magic flute)
within fifty plus shades of gray matter
per this fifty plus year ole coot?
This need dull in haste tack
search for source that gave rise
per process to enable *****sapiens
to think doth nag horse sense
of this poet as he initially digs shallow,
yet sometimes forced to spelunk
into crawl space narrow and shallow,
or shine laser focus into a chasm
teetering on brink (hunting down
gamesome elusive dodging catlike whims)
out pace readied whorled wide net
to capture alive agile rat fink unseen
quiet as a mouse notion gives hardy fellow
(quite a chase) scurrying thru micro
cosmic burrow of Manhattan skyscrapers
at a blink, said quarry vanishes
without a trace just as quick mental cogs
and wheels generated riveting link
connecting bot sized tinker toys pinging
within cerebral cortex appearing random
as nonsequiturs conscious kinks via
distracting ability to latch onto awesome
fleeting mindspace inducing minor frustration
at lack of ability to nab (albeit painlessly)
zinc shimmering insight cognizant ability
likened to ode to Grecian urn vase frieze
depicting ever closely captured thought
process, cuz lifespan shorter than a wink

My dear Siblings,
I voted for Hillary.
I would have preferred Bernie,
but she agreed to much of his platform-especially universal health care and education and seemed to be cognizant of environmental/climate change issues and bonus--she's a woman!
How I feel now? I am still haunted by the sound of my millennial son as he stood in the shower the morning after the election,
sobbing,
grief stricken,
mourning the loss of freedom and safety for many of his friends of different races,
nationalities,
sexual identities
and religions.
I am both immensely proud of him and fear for him
when I remember him coming out of the bathroom after that gut wrenching and utterly hopeless outpouring of tears.
He wore the look of a young man going off to war
and declared his allegiance and his personal protection to all those now named targets of hatred.
I'm not sure that I would have the courage to be a millennial now.
I recently watched about 20 snapping turtle hatchlings emerge, one by one, from a small hole in the sand bank above the pond and embark on a hilarious topsy-turvey tumble down the embankment and disappear into the dark stillness under the lush green vegetation of the shallow water.
Along the way some of them appeared to die.
At one point, the lifeless forms were starting to pile up near the exit hole of the nest and I feared for those still waiting for their turn to feel the sunlight on their faces.
What amazed me was to see how these little creatures responded to each other.
One would walk right over the top or lightly brush up against the side of an apparently dead sibling
and suddenly they were moving along together.
I imagined one saying to the other,
"Come on. You can do it. Don't stop now."
or maybe "I'll race you",
like I used to say to Jeremy when I wanted him to move faster.
I was relieved and very satisfied when the last one slipped into the pond;
a proud midwife.
I can only hope that the extreme disregard for the Earth and all her creatures,
including human beings,
that is spewing out of our political system and corporations
will incite all of us to a new way of being;
to getting everybody to the pond.
Lovingly,
Kerry
With the work of the Lord as my priority task
upheld by ministerial privilege virtue
midst volunteerism exercise along faith-zest…
…I always pray, yielding to His omnipotence
that my heart earnestly as well as constantly
be pre-occupied with the Lord of the work…
…cognizant that servanthood pursuit-obsession
may breed unhealthy virtue-vice
lurking behind self-seeking glory motives
towering upon arrogant meekness
in the guise of faithful stewardship sacrifice…
Oh, may God forbid* that egoistic lust would reign
over my spiritual enthusiasm, divinely sublime
since fleshly human nature is never exempted…
…as I can succumb to such tempting allurement
when pulled toward carnality’s flame
and entangled with gratifying altruism-pleasure…
leaving guilty angst, tormenting the soul
while robbing me of worship's blissful serenity triumph.
*Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Being as unfaithful as Ashley Madison
That’s how I honestly feel when it comes to God
Who’s not like luggage which I can just jettison
Though the world at times tempt me to never applaud
Him it tantalises me endless draws me in
Like raindrops on spider’s web yet so bitter-sweet
I can’t deny myself this feeling which can spin
Me out of control making me think I’m complete
Caught up in this trap where I feel like flame exposed
In the wind struggling to stay lit and bright on site
I thought being in the dark no one sees me imposed
On me consistently afraid of how this Light
Tracks each move I make I’m like Eve in the garden
Ecstatic with this set-up where I always find
Myself in God’s mercy asking to be pardon
A perpetual sinner under His watch aligned
To go astray right away even if I do
Believe in God wholeheartedly with all my faith
The main challenge my flesh constantly puts me through
Trials and tribulations not once not twice not eighth
Time provided I’m cognizant of how I live
Under His radar forgiven every time I
Sin and sin and sin again and again He give
Me chance provided I repent and not just try
As a pilgrim* in this enigmatic world
granted freedom for wondrous exploration
I’ll journey along life’s varied avenues, or highways
cognizant of rough roads, valleys, and even hills to trek
trusting my God, the perfect Guide toward streets of gold.
My soul I’ll yield with submission
for triumphant driving of the Holy Spirit’s power
maneuvered by clear directions for kindness' gesture
while consulting the Scriptures, divine compass and map
pleading the Lord to help me overcome the wanderer’s snares.
I’ll fly with Christ in my goals
achieving for His glory and honour
fastening my desires to His sovereign purpose
soaring above earthly gains to seek what’s eternal
propelled by His guidance to rise above clouds of doubt’s turbulence.
Sailing against tempests
I’ll travel with my faith’s Captain, Jesus
anchored upon His steadfast truth and love
fighting selfishness-piracy; winning over apathy
for worthy reaching-out voyage, indeed blissfully blessed.
Midst pilgrimage
toward the celestial
I'll enjoy sojourning moments
sharing compassion and peace of the Almighty
with fellow voyagers who seek to arrive well, hurdling rigorous trips.
*1Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.

When the curtain of pain fell upon us…
grateful were we since God’s comfort
indeed readily wrapped our hearts.
somehow cognizant of death’s reality
we, siblings, thought we were prepared
…yet, though our minds wanted to defy sorrows’ pangs
our emotional angst just burst… as normally as they should.
“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”*
thus declare the Scriptures’ precepts
confronting, yet assuring our souls to the very core
during our dear Dad’s burial.
We admitted earnestly against grace of hypocrisy…
…undoubtedly shown by our tears freely flowing---
our vulnerability when the curtain of pain fell upon us.
Dad’s coffin was finally placed inside its resting place
midst reverberating spiritual hymns.
Peeping through the curtain of pain
was radiant hope as we believe that Dad’s faith in Christ
ceaselessly glows with praise-filled gratitude
to the mighty God of resurrection**
while he continues to inspire others to live their best, even in pain!
*1Corinthians 15:55
** John 11:25 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
