Sublime Obsession
With the work of the Lord as my priority task
upheld by ministerial privilege virtue
midst volunteerism exercise along faith-zest…
…I always pray, yielding to His omnipotence
that my heart earnestly as well as constantly
be pre-occupied with the Lord of the work…
…cognizant that servanthood pursuit-obsession
may breed unhealthy virtue-vice
lurking behind self-seeking glory motives
towering upon arrogant meekness
in the guise of faithful stewardship sacrifice…
Oh, may God forbid* that egoistic lust would reign
over my spiritual enthusiasm, divinely sublime
since fleshly human nature is never exempted…
…as I can succumb to such tempting allurement
when pulled toward carnality’s flame
and entangled with gratifying altruism-pleasure…
leaving guilty angst, tormenting the soul
while robbing me of worship's blissful serenity triumph.
*Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
