Long Ago,
I gave my life to a vision beauty,
And it ruined and blessed my life forever,
I met a taskmaster, who was relentless,
He showed me my sin, sin after sin, and I could barely bare it,
But through it all his still small voice said, “Woody I love you”
And there are moments friend, There are moments, when he opens up the
Sounds of Heaven to me,
And I feel a peace and a joy that are unequaled by any time I could imagine,
Like for instance, today, I preached at one of my best friend’s Churches,
And I preached the theme, when a seed becomes a Storm.
And my friend read poetry,
And my friend arrived in laden apparel,
And it was a like a dream of old, come true forever more,
The Fantastic Four, knocking down windmills and furrowing eternal friendship,
And at the end of the day, my wife and I sat down and cried tears of empathy and
passion and healing to Gridiron Gang,
I tell you this world is harsh,
And so my King must be tough on me,
He must relentlessly remind me of my emptiness and inadequacy,
But in all of his chastening there is the still small vision of a beauty more
captivating than any World Wonder,
I tell you my King is tough,
But beyond his toughness there is a soft still comfort,
And my love for him is so deep in this moment,
I yell and scream at my savior sometimes like a jealous wife,
I curse him out, I dare him to show himself,
And time after time, he responds, “My son, you are beautifully and wonderfully
made and I love you”
I tell you, in his service I have suffered horrors I couldn’t have thought of in my
wildest nightmare,
And yet his protective hand has always been on me,
He is the King of all I tell you,
And I am unafraid to embrace a Buddhist or a Muslim or a Jew or a Hindu as
sisters or brothers,
For I know of my Saviors protective Jealousy,
He does not fear my adultery,
For he is confident,
He nudges me to explore the universe and see him in Vishnu and Siva alike,
And like the Sivites I sometimes say to him, “God where is your mercy?!”
And he answers with such sweet caress,
And he answers with such sweet murmurings,
He is the End and the Beginning of my joy,
He is my coach, my lover, my friend, my King, my confidant, my brother, my father,
my boss, my master, my life, my heart, and I will love him forever!!!
He soothes my mind
Like a gentle rain falling
Kissing naked skin
With nurturing from Him
The Creator of time
The Giver of insight
The Power of winds and tide
Praise pours from me, sprinkling
In small verses of joy
Inspirations of adoration
For the One who knows
My heart, my soul, my dreams
The way I feel and the way I breathe
A prayer of faith to Him, my Savior
Whenever I chase grace – roaming
The scriptures with a need for His
Gift of wisdom, truth, brilliance
Psalms cling to my thoughts
Whispering miracles and hope
Coloring me in hues of stardust
Warmth, lavender lights so soft
They reflect only the fresh songs
Of oceanic applause rejoicing
Singing comfort through my reveries
In a chorus of beautiful, clean scents
A delicate love woven through humility
Chastening rumors and hearsay
Refusing the darkness of a tongue
Sated by lies and deceptions, slanders
Sliding down the throats of swindlers
Who never take the truth to heart
Where it will bring salvation to a soul
Longing for God’s gifts of the spirit
So dazzling they radiate across lives
Shining like moon and stars on the night
There is the black hole of evil’s darkness
And there is the light of good’s enchantment
Only the Savior of heaven and earth can tell
Where to escape the fires of pain and dread
Come to the quiet redemption of the one
Who knows that God is still on the throne
And He is still controlling it all, even the dark
Deep inside, where heart and soul collide
There is a sense of assurance and hope
Promises to the one who sincerely believes
The word of God, the sacred writings
Welcoming needs – wants and aspirations
Confidence in the truth that will reveal
Answers from God to those who simply read
The directions found in this book of faith
A bible filled with an amazing, living grace
He silences all of my fears
With light that fills shadows
Dreams in vibrant shades of pleasure
Glorifies the One who died for my soul
And taught me that love is an open door
For anyone who will come hungry
And give Him the chance to fill them
With a peace that is alive and revives
Even the dead hopes that tremble
On the edge of a dewdrop so tender
With God, being vulnerable
Doesn’t mean you’re weak
With God, being vulnerable
Means that you can finally see!

My Ruler, propel my commitment for Your ministry along prayerful driving
May I always depend on Your power since to Your strength I’m cleaving.

What better place than here
to be
To stop drop anchor and rest aboard
my floating throne and dotted
upon by endless servants
feeding me grapes of wrath
And take in all of this ethereal world's
majesty I am seemingly deemed to own
And If only for a little while
Breathe in another most
auspicious rustic desert sunset
slowly fading behind the pyramids
chastening the horizon
Drifting pleasantly along the silent tepid
river Nile like a calm deflecting Oasis
Oh how I can only wish to imagine if
I were the Pharisee King of this domain
my own people and enslaved Israelites
as well
Placed in charge over all of this
fertile land and ever increasing empire
Adorned and drapped with such
bedazzled finery as die cast hand
crafted robes
Wearing a crown made out of
the purest yellow gold with every
kind of precious stone one can imagine
carefully set
So even when come sunset and daylight
is then eventually replaced by moonlight
He is still the only thing around able
still to be seen as his regal attire
reflects and shimmers the moonlight rays
afterglow luminescence back
And if you we're sceptical and never
did believe in his status as a living
God on earth before
After seeing him somehow be able
to glow and transcend even the
natural rule of law by turning
darkness into light
10 plagues alone your subjects
would gladly suffer through but
not suffice nor be enough
To start or begin a revolution
or revolt
Gather on mass and march we as
the common people finally standing
united under the banner
" Let Those People Go "
Because never mind them do it for
us after all we are the one's suffering
out lives now resemble hell
And what exactly is to be gained and
the reason behind this madness
And now you come to mention it
That has never actually ever been
explained
