A Blustery Autumn Day
Mischievous bursts of autumn’s laughter
Pulls down the last of the season’s bright artistry
Carried away on blustery gusts,
Weaving a tapestry of autumn’s magic
In tiny whirlwinds of yellow, orange and umber –
Floating like capricious ghosts into hazy skies
Waiting for the rains -
Then chasing jubilees of color into dry puddles of drifting leaves,
Like flying cartwheels,
Scattering,
Then gathering in again,
And just for fun
Lifting fringes of woolen mufflers, warding off the chill,
Taking aim at woolen hats with rowdy gusts
Delighting in their tumbling down broad sidewalks,
Crowded with bright leaves,
In pirouettes,
Spinning kaleidoscopes in shades of whimsy,
Careening down the lanes or bustling avenues,
Catching breath again to huff and puff,
Blowing in erratic tempest tarantellas,
And giggle
Watching footballs taking errant paths,
Tickling summered tree limbs exposed,
No cover for their naked branches,
With passing gales of glee,
Resounding with the call of cornucopia’s horn
To gather in the Indian corn, pumpkins and ripe wheat
Before the coming days of icy storms
Blow hard with unrelenting icy currents
In winter squalls returning.
Granules of recollection rub like salt
Flailing in the fog of seven years ago
Deafened by incessant frog cries
Vines dangling began attaching to each other
Drying river stagnated, slime slippery with algae
Vigorous tree growth stooped in defeat
Muddy river banks fixed my feet, prisoners
Quick sand sapped my energy, ate my memories
Spears of bygone javelin my lungs, make gasp
Emerging from the mist of six years ago
Mountain side incredibly steep left me breathless
Static crinkle hissed between my eardrums
Channels flip changed without my inference
Hard luck hollowing trunks of high altitude
Offered to swallow my past, kindly include present
Flattened cushions of childhood fights , bring distance
Spinning cartwheels into oblivion of five years ago
Faintly flickering home movies startle between grins
Marbled images depict how we were, junctions punctured
Paths deviated, split decisions, moments distilled
Bottles broken, options poured, down the sink
Faltering swell glimmers foaming overdrawn fantasies
Slices rewound reflect fleeting of four years ago
Head barely above, awash in nonsense, victim of tides
Pushed under and pulled above, or is it more apt
the other way 'round, heavy, ocean surrounds drowns
Pencil case zipper obediently conceals, shoved down
Fragmented fragrant shavings of three years ago
Greyed erasers took too much, left the wrong stuff
Coloured stubs refuse to function, shrink upon prompting
Mirror tells me glamour remains against toughest test
High eyebrows, pristine lip lustre of two years ago
Marilyn wink in the blink of camera, busy filtering truth
Tree hugging Boho took over, appealed to populus ideal
Cocaine sand between toasted toes, garland encircling forehead
Currently I'm languishing in roses
bestowed by crown of thorns

Have you ever had this happen to you?
You're walking along, minding your business
When a pole leaps out in front of you
Rattles your brain leaving you senseless
Inanimate objects aren't so inanimate
It seems they have a mind of their own
You're strolling along when a boulder appears
Stub your toe and it hurts to the bone
Sometimes when your patio doors are clean
It's just like there's no glass at all
With a confident stride, you slam into them
Smash your nose and you try not to bawl
You're running for a bus and then it happens
You slip on a discarded banana peel
You wind up with your bum high in the air
Doing amazing acrobatic cartwheels
You wonder how these inanimate objects
Seem to know when it's right to attack
It happens when you surely least expect it
And your wheels come right off the track!

~Of Infinity~
Infinity spoke at Genesis
Drawing up finite from the abyss
Light, overjoyed,
Raced with cartwheels in the beyond.
Newborn light, in vain, searches
For a border, a boundary,
Like fleeting hallucinations,
Ever expanding the elastic expansive
~
Seamless continuum of joy
In a shapeless womb
With no punctuated spaces
Of an algorithmic solution
~
Defining definitions absent
Time folded into the Ubiquitous
Echoes of reverberations swallowed
Like shadows chasing mirages
Seamless, lyrical line of continuity
Infrared joined in perpetuity to ultraviolet
The fire and ice of our season’s continuums
Falls away
Enigma of the flesh bound mind
Gives way to the ageless spirit child
Stepping through a stardust trail
Into endless galaxies of formless grace
Infinity invokes us into
Abiding everlasting blessing
Resolution of redemption
And it is good!

Turning cartwheels under August’ dusk,
The gentle aroma from the blossoms musk,
The stillness lays the day to rest,
As the sun finishes it’s daily quest,
Time again we’ve bore witness to this,
This beauty of a summers kiss,
Right here under this very tree,
I’ve passionate memories of you and me,
You always said this was the place,
Your absolutely favourite space,
You’d say “Make sure that I’m beautifully dressed,”
“Then under my tree lay me to rest”
So here you are my gentle bird,
My throat is dry and my eyes are blurred,
But your sleeping where you longed to be,
No longer standing next to me.
Nothing will ever be the same,
Never again will you say my name,
As much as I’m glad your finally free,
I’ll never hold you under our tree.
There’s nothing left for me to see,
There’s nowhere else I need to be,
Tomorrow I’ll be there with you,
Because I’ve made sure that there’s room for two.
Cracker jack energy spit spot spit spot!
Jumping me awake
Energized, eager, energy galore.
I wake up to cartwheels, giggles and spins.
Open one eye and catch a half pirouette jump
Off the bed onto the dresser? Giggle, giggle.
Cracker jack energy spit spot spit spot!
A happy face shadows mine.
My eyes flash open.
I am looking into the eyes of two sprites.
No one should be this happy in the morning.
It is their M.O.
They are glad to be alive!
Glad I am their Mom. Giggle. Giggle.
Cracker jack energy spit spot spit spot!
My arms slowly rise up, and I yawn.
They see my traitorous mouth begin its upward corner dance.
I cannot help it! They are in my face, grinning like Cheshire Cat’s mama!
No one should be this pleased to be awoken at 5:30 a.m. but I am.
Because they are my world.
My life, my purpose, my mission, my boys.
Spit spot! Spit spot!
I jump up and race for the bathroom.
Two giggling boys right behind me.
I have not been in the bathroom alone
For four or five years.
No worries.

I skipped the light fandango,
as I walked across the night
turning cartwheels
upon a sky lit floor.
I was feeling kind of sea sick,
as the stars cried out with roar
the ceiling flew away
and so I soared, a little more (pause)
And so it was,
as I raved against the embers,
and the dying of the light,
I turned a whiter, shade of pale;
******
As I wandered through His garden
I could not help but let it be
and as the killer told his tale,
I watched the water, turn to light;
Just his 16th vessel virgin,
I was filled with cold and dread
but the truth was plain to see
as I wandered through God's garden,
I'd had been mistaken, sadly left
for dead.
Although my eyes were open
they might as well be closed
as I skipped the light fandango
He turned the water, into shades
of pale*
He turned the water, into Light
and so it was ...
Once a dream angel appeared in my room
Saying he’d come to fly me up to the moon
He fixed angel wings to my silken nightgown
Came a halo of roses my head for to crown.
Taking my hand we flew into the night
And we landed on the moon lit up bright
Then the two of us lovingly embraced
Lovers in the wonder of outer space.
We spent happy hours wishing upon stars
Catching moonbeams to take home in a jar
Went tripping a light fandango moon waltz
Doing moonlight cartwheels and somersaults.
The dream sadly came to abrupt ending
Wishing that it’d be a dream pending
I never saw my dream angel again
Not even got to know what was his name.
I call him my sweet secret dream angel
One day I hope so much to be able
To dance upon the moon’s face just once more
With the dream angel who made my heart soar.
“Sadly it was all only make believe.”
You came to me in an open dream,
for ever since I was born.
This chassis can of pleasure, to sing,
to inspire cartwheels with perfect form.
I'll tell you if I can or if it began,
where it's empty or if love is not the food.
Hollow love not printed with love's warning.
Listen to the soul's spilling.
Listen to it's blues,
staggering along ceasing to be pretending.
A shadow hanging freshly minted,
"Never-mind"
and," I'm sorry".
Learn when or where or why
or how it came to light,
or the how to end.
Open and close the door to this ador,
soul left empty and hollow,
it's failed at love.

I ponder
How long will this innocence last.
As I watch him play….take leave
Of our world
And become a dinosaur,
Roar and stomp and laugh
And mispronounce their names.
I watch her pirouette
Turn cartwheels
Dance to a tune only she hears
Tumble to the floor….. laughing.
I struggle to protect them
To shield them from
The righteousness of authoritarianism
To permit them to be themselves.
It is not my job to mold them
Shape them, compel them
But to provide them a safe place
To discover their uniqueness
To explore, to dare to be
A dinosaur, a ballerina
A child.
