Blue Eys Blake

Wrote this for the biggest Blake Shelton Fan contest

With a "Hillbilly Bone" down deep inside
There is no way Blake can hide
How country that he can be
He's a little "Honey Bee"
With eyes that are bright and blue
Singing with a voice so true
Serenading wife Miranda
They cuddle on the cabana
"The More He Drinks" it gets crazy
All his thoughts become so hazy
But "On A Good Day"
Miranda's "Love Get's In The Way"
With a love that's coming true
She whispers "God Gave Me You"
A "White Christmas" there will be
As kids gather around the tree
"Night Before Christmas" being read
Kids question every line that's said
Troops are always on his mind
He writes songs so sweet and kind
Wishing them "Home" everywhere
Showing just how much he cares
A proud and loving grandson
He remembers "Granddaddy's Gun"
He takes care of with such grace
A smile shines upon his face
He is full of fun and smiles
Always wearing different styles
He's "The Baby" of his mom
She has lots of special charm
No matter how far he roams
Its "Always Time For Him To Come Home"
A cowboy with lots of class
Who says "Kiss My Country Ass"
If you don't like what he stands for
He will fight and he will claw
With his friend Toby so true

Alaina
Se llamaba Alaina
She stole my heart in a cabana
I still can’t listen to Santana
I need my gotta see my Alaina-na-na-na
My Alaina-na-na-na
Oh oh oh oh oh, um um um um

Her hips did all the talkin’
I knew I was a dead-man-walkin’
There’s no defense against those curves
Can’t say it wasn’t worth the pain I endured from

Alaina
Se llamaba Alaina
She stole my heart in a cabana
I still can’t listen to Santana
I need my gotta see my Alaina-na-na-na
My Alaina-na-na-na
Oh oh oh oh oh, um um um um

I had no doubt she’d be trouble
Her smile had me seein’ double
I love the places she takes me
So not knowin’ where she is, is makin’ me crazy for

Alaina
Se llamaba Alaina
She stole my heart in a cabana
I still can’t listen to Santana
I need my gotta see my Alaina-na-na-na
My Alaina-na-na-na
Oh oh oh oh oh, um um um um

Love is a series of transactions with feelings attached - like receipts

There’s a couple, a cabana away snogging endlessly.
They seem locked in elemental attraction, getting hot.
I think they’re newlyweds - good on them.

Behind my Polarized sun-glasses, I pretend that I’m not watching. Observed passion can be faintly ridiculous - or not.

I watch the theatrical sea, mostly, but those two are a distraction engine.

Sure, there’s a self-aware cringe to watching them,
but their obvious heat leaves me pleasantly reeling.

The thoughts and feelings they stir are a jealousy, slow building - tidal, and recursive - a returning surf on a scandalously erotic shore. The inescapable debris of attraction - think modern tidal plastic.

They make me want to reach for sensation
by processing my envy into action.

I ordered them some champagne and strawberries
They smiled and waved and we toasted them from afar.

I touched Peter’s shoulder, he was reading a book.
“Let’s go upstairs,” I suggested.
When he looked up and saw my sideways smile,
he grinned, saying, “Ok.”

Intimacy arranged, like emotional Venmo
We scrambled up and I took his hand as we crossed the fiery sand.

It’s a totes private beach, we didn’t even have to take our things.

The waters roll
on the beach's weather-beaten edge.
Seven times salt - like tears.

The multi-colored sun burns white
- this sunlight is a mood event.

Perhaps I’m overexposed, overstimulated,
and a little theatrically fragile.

In this heat, the aromatic herbs - wild thyme, rosemary
and oregano that clutter the dunes, rocky slopes,
and coastal paths, add a pleasant, simmering spaghetti
smell when the wind swirls off the land-side

poetry break!

trust not your feelings
though your grief is no less shallow,
this heat will dry your tears,
burn them off quietly before they can be seen
- liquid sentiment baked into passing for poise

What is sadness without the aesthetic payoff of tears?

reality break!

A little hopping tern inspects our cabana,
a tiny, opinionated heckler with feathers.

“You better go find some shade,” I told it.
but it didn’t listen - did it even care?
It hopped closer, a brave, social offender
testing my very human grace.

My mood evaporates in direct sunlight
so I’m exiled to cringing in the shadows,
reduced to the social observation of birds.

Birthday Blissful Blessings

Dear Olabosoye Oluwafunmilayo
Raise up with joy your cup
To thank Him- the standing backup
Being off and on like an innocent pup
Smiling at the lightproof to have a closeup

Toast to the new leaf turned
Hallelujah to the new grace earned
Glory to Jesus of mercy returned
And praises to life by peace governed

For the goodness of God lives
Till this very moment cum life He gives
Amidst the governmental incentives
Not delivered though troubling peace forgives

Happy birthday to my last born
She sees me of no fun neither of scorn
Probably because I am a Capricorn
Always open everyday to forewarn

She is mine and her day is for all
We are together up at its call
To make a colorful day nice and ball
Till time is for bed to retire protocol

Happy birthday one and only Beatrice
Fill up your day enough with umpteenth bliss
Guide Dante and more to paradise not abyss
Duty's call to which no mistake is God's business

Don't go without making wishes
Be careful of those things you cherished
Rather look inward to those things that won't vanished
In caution to how happiness flourishes

Say them all to His ears and wait
But never in any instance of grace lose weight
Unless you impatiently with time negate
He never failed for once or appeared late

Yes testimonies will rain like manna
Till thanksgiving gives way to more celebration
To come often chilling under a cooling cabana
Happy birthday to your soul, be safe with thy aspiration

There is going to be no NO
Says thy dear bro. among your wishes
Let's say there is, it will be turned ON
Till no No shows up again in your pursuits
Happy birthday to the one I share chromosomes with

Listen to the crying morning birds
Their chirps are for your day
Don't get rid of listening even it makes no sense
Till the least trance creates chance for fun
Happy birthday my darling, keep living...

I have you a VASE as a present
In it flows a boundless sea
Which treasure every bit of our save
Till running sea water shall make an ocean
Happy belated birthday dearest friend

In Ocean Breeze

Long slow waves roll towards sandy beach
breaking with white foam as they grow near
as sound of surf fills the breeze
and air is full of tang of salt

just off shore in the rolling waves
	dolphins frolic swimming by
breaking surface and diving deep
	a joyful sight to see

overhead in sky blue
	bright light gulls soaring by
and their calls pierce the air
and the sound of their flapping wings

champagne beach so cool and moist
	water washes so smooth
cleansing away signs of footsteps
as if they had never been

dry churned sand higher lies
so hot in bright burning sun
beach towels bright with colors lie
	scattered like leaves fallen here

striped umbrellas cast pools of shade
	over cabana chairs there
where people in their swimwear lie
	hiding from bright sunshine

others stroll along the sand
	brought hats of straw adorned
bright colored bags hanging from their arms
holding all that they need here
there is one who passes by
with swinging walk that catches eye
auburn hair escapes the head
	and blows in gentle breeze

And as I watch her saunter by
	and longing fills my heart
Jasmine and Rose fills the air
and she walks out of my sight

soft white clouds floats overhead
cutting off the light of sun
as fading darkness fills my eyes
and nothing is left to see

Premium Member Put - Revised

You say you want lots of rum? Put it in a big fat drum.
Cooking oils put in drums too. Soy or canola will do.

Put your hands in a basin. Want a jar? How about a Mason?
In a jar, you can put jam, but probably not a ham.

Flour you can put into a bowl. Lay flat for biscuits. Roll and roll.
Sugar put into a bowl with flour. Add in things not sour!

Put your trash in a bin. In a glass pour your gin.
Soup or a drink put in a cup. All night in comfort you can sup.

In our sky God put stars. In cartons man put cigars.
In cartons too you can put milk. On your hair put a scarf of silk.

Put good fruit into a pail. In your mailbox stick your mail.
Many things you can put in a box. Things from Amazon, clocks and rocks.

Coins I might put in a pouch; cash in cushions of my couch.
In my bag I put such things as lipstick, cash, strings or rings.

In your lunchbox put a banana. Bikinis, though, put in a cabana!
Santa puts gifts in a sack. Shirts you put both front and back.

Folks put liquids in a jug. Liquids hot go in a mug.
A lot of fluid put in a vat. I don’t think most folks own that.

In a bathtub put your body, using bath salts – not too shoddy.
Put your wool things in a sink. But dry hot not, or it will shrink!

You can put upon a tray things not too big down to lay.
Last, should all a body burn, it’s good to hold it in an urn.
