Abuse

How can you look into the eyes of a child,
and find their fears arousing,
How can you raise your hand to a woman,
and call your self a man,
how can you control someone’s behaviour,
by being be so coercive and
How can you bully someone for a difference in their appearance,
how can you exploit the vulnerable and the needs of the elderly
and how can there be any excuse,
to inflict upon someone such harrowing abuse

I’ve carried those scars through every year,
The weight of a love that became my fear.
The one who should have been my guide
Was the very reason a part of me died.

No prayer, no plea, can make this right,
The truth still burns in the dead of night.
You chose to harm, you chose this path —
And I am still the proof of your aftermath.

Townie corner boys
(a synonym for a**holes)
won't leave me alone...
bully me, hit me, hurt me,
leave me there filled with...relief

Each day at boys school
I am told I don't belong...
(I'm not an athlete)
so I am treated with scorn
by my peers AND my teachers

"You are retarded!"
Can't tell you how many times
I heard that insult
(my own academic prowess
be damned, be cursed, be ignored)

And so I’m searching,
always searching for something
I can be good at;
and, please Lord, if I can find it,
maybe the contempt will pass

Years - decades - later
a former tormentor calls;
"A school reunion!
Won't you come? Will you join us?"
But the memories still haunt

Premium Member Daddy Would Be So Proud of His Daughter

Daddy's Little Daughter Grows UP

Mama some boy at school called me a dumb blond
And I hit him
He said blonds are only good for one thing
Can you believe that mama
I was furious, so furious mama
My father would have been so proud, so very proud
Of me if he were still alive
Mama, I hit him again
This time really, really good
I may have broken his nose
Or I least I hoped so
Mama get this,
He looked at me with those big brown eyes
Tears pooling
Mama I hit him again
He tried to say sorry
He was like a newborn puppy at my feet
Looking up at me with those floppy ears of his
With his tounge and tail wagging ... mama
And his voice stuck way down in his throat
So painful
So pathetic
So powerful I am,
I stood my ground to that bully, mama
Yes I did
Yes I did
Mama I hit him again
He said he was sorry, and this time I think he meant it
But I didn't care
He was crying uncontrollable
Unconditionally
I laughed
I blew him a kiss
I said if ever did that again, he would be very sorry
He tried to get up mama
Mama he tried to get up
And I raised my arms, as to hit him again
But I didn't
Our eyes met mama
I think he likes me
I could see the bruises on his face
But I was melting fast by his heat
Even in his worst disposition
He was magic, magnetic
He pulled my heartstrings
I like him mama
I really do
He's different
He's cute and funny
I know I'm only eleven
And boys my age only want one thing
But mama look at me, put those potatoes down
Mama look at me, put those potatoes down I said
This is important, mama
He asked me to go out to the school dance this Friday
Mama, I said yes,
Mama I said yes
My heart pounding
I'm happy
I'm going to the bunny hop with him
Yes I am mama
I know I'm only eleven
And boys my age only want one thing
But mama...listen
Mama he will be a gentlemen to me
You'll see
You can bet on that mama
You can bet on that
Yes you can
For this girl is nobody's mule
Dad would have been proud

Inspired By Today's Poem of the Day

"The Moment of Silence"
by: Eric L. Boddie

After every disaster, flags are often flown at half mast
And a moment of silence is given for those who entered the past
Silence, itself, is a most powerful thing
It denies prison to the birds who refuse to sing
A moment of silence to a thief, well, that's all he needs
To acquire what's yours, leaving you with material grief
A moment of silence from the bully and the pain will cease
And maybe he will understand that it is wrong to feed the beast
We need a moment of silence from all the haters, they know who I'm talking about
That way, they can stop getting smacked in the mouth
And last but not least as you receive this moment of silence from me
I hope I left your minds with thought provoking serenity....

Premium Member Fragility of Recovery

Fragility of recovery is like time in a bottle
Like the time that bully punctured our special balloon
We need no sense of gloom
Like sands in an hourglass, we'd retrieve our past
How long will we last.

Fragility of recovery kindly ask; take heed
Fragility of recovery is of concern to us indeed
In case we should forget, as if we'll have no regret
Fragility of recovery is as potent as our emotions
We need no commotion.

Fragility of recovery ask of us devotion
And when I think of devotion, here's safe potion-
We'll smell and taste all natural flavors of life
They'll flow like streams of conscious joy delight
Coming forth day and night
When I think of devotion, life is like a sweet breeze
Fragility of recovery can knock us to our knees
So, to our Higher Power, we'll say, 'hold us please.'

Premium Member The Sixth Grade Bully Lost

We were kids
That took the low road
Growing up
On the edge
Of the sword
Bullying other school kids
And breaking the rules

It was dark
Cold-hearted pursuit
To cause pain
To these kids
Stealing their lunchtime monies
Homework, clothes, and shoes

Like puppets
Stripped of dignity
Their strings pulled
And life's tugged
They followed that lowest road
Throughout that sixth grade

They shoplift
Stole fishing hooks for the hood
Rods and reels
Food and snacks
And condoms just for practice
Their faces were sad

Years later
Gray, old, and dusty
I ask why
What reason
Was there to tear on their youth
And leave this world scarred

Dog Tired This Day March 29th 2018

A minor typo found this fanatic spell binding hound to resend a poem posse sub bully dashed off in a huff (past the hour) if nothing else than fur his spurt full of peace, bot tee, and mind.
Thus this Norwegian bachelor wannabe (most closely aligned with said status closely attained unmarried state by pledging my Unitarian troth) tilled, sown, and furrowed spirit nsync with the missus sleeping in close proximity.

dog tired this day - march 29th, 2018
no matter this dawg gone pup
took numerous one after another cat nap
his utterly fatigued
    body electric still ragged

as if he went without sleep for a lifetime,
    ensnared within a time warp,
    espied that aggravating "aw SNAP"
(error code instead of a webpage

    or, simultaneously
caught in a narcoleptic parent trap

thus, while a burst of energy
    temporarily doth prevail
(a priori which extreme fatigue
of body, mind and spirit -

more troublesome, and worse than -
    getting crucified
with a rusty nine inch nail
alleviated with deep sleep finds

    much more tiredness
    than usual quotidian sleepiness

    being imprisoned (for high
    gram matt tick crimes

dangling a modifier, splitting an infinitive,
    unnecessary parenthesis (), et cetera
    which landed me punctually,

    proverbially, and squarely
    in the slaammed shut jail
fed thin gruel with grubs that didst flail
nauseating pluperfect revulsion
    each time hide exhale

which, many hours long rests did restore
for a bit of time only for totally tubular
     exhaustion to come roar
ring back leaving me tour
charred as if...i fought in every major war.

Premium Member And So Said the Sage

balance in life is not easy to achieve,
you may be torn between duty and love,
how you think may not be how they think of you,
your best intentions may be misunderstood!
Here is what I have to say to you...
learn to be kind but do not be weak,
be helpful but do not be a slave,
learn to forgive, but not be passive to evil,
learn to be quick but do not be hasty,
aim high but hurt not those below you,
have wealth but let moral be your guide,
be brave but never be a bully!
in life-tasks know wheat from chaff,
know good friends from those that are not!
but learn to live in harmony with them all,
for worst enemies one day may become friends!
life goes in cycles of have and have not,
so give when you have and never hoard,
when you have not have patience to bear,
when given be humble to receive with gratitude,
the flame of life in you is your very own,
let not others put out that flame for their reasons,
but use it to light good hopes in others!
We have much to learn from the boat in the river,
the boat has to be friends with the waves,
but cannot let the waves dictate its journey!
You are the guardian angel of your own dreams,
do not let others make your dreams a nightmare!
