A Rift In Time Part 1

A Rift in Time

By Elton Camp

Henry Higgins, B.A., M.A. Ph.D., graduate in physics from the Massachusetts Institution of Technology, is missing. Born August 8, 1950, he was thought of as a genius by some, but as a crackpot by others. Revolutionary theories on the possibility of time travel that he presented at scientific gatherings received a mixture of applause and ridicule. None of his articles have seen publication in peer-reviewed journals.

How his machine works is of a technical nature, thus certain to be of insignificant interest to the readers of this account. Suffice it to say that it works very well. Henry had seen his device disappear and reappear multiple times after being programmed to slide both forward and backward in time.

Finally came the day to test it in person. Surprisingly athletic for a man of his years, Henry strapped himself into place before the control panel, adjusted his eyeglasses and pulled a protective helmet over his thick, gray hair. He set the chronometer to early August of 2040 to determine if he was still living at that advanced age and what honors had been accorded him by the scientific community.

With a barely-discernable jerk, the time machine began its slide into the future, the red cancel button prominently alongside the digital display of the date. The world outside the device became a blur and Henry heard only a low hum from the engine. All seemed to be well as the years rolled by on the chronometer. At first, that is.

Henry noted with surprise the muscle atrophy and skin changes associated with extreme age. A slight looseness of his helmet caused him to discover that he was now as bald as his father had been in his late eighties. Henry’s eyeglasses no longer allowed him to read the control panel clearly. The truth hit him--he was aging along with the passing years. The inanimate time machine had shown no such effect, but it was different with a biological organism. He desperately punched the cancel button, realizing that, if his future self was not still living, his death was impending.

To his relief, the chronometer slowed and stopped. Without input from Henry, the time device began to move backward in time, slowly at first, and then at a brisk clip. By the time the read-out showed Henry’s present, his physical deterioration had been reversed and all was as before.

Greater Consciousness

Greater Consciousness
08/17/2015

Imagine humankind in a future time
Could perceive each other’s mind.
What would it be like to do this thing
And the kind of world it would bring?

My insight of what would come about
Probably is sorely lacking no doubt.
But I will try in rhyme to give my take
Of how this will cause a human remake.

Could many brains make such a noise
That your psyche it destroys?
I very much hope and believe it would not
Be the result of so much thought.

Would politicians have to retire
No longer able to lie or conspire?
Could other crimes be in the past,
Criminals finally eliminated at last?

Would freedoms of expression be curtailed
By thought police with info very detailed,
Or would enlightenment reign so not a single jail
Or any form of bureaucracy would prevail?

Would war and armies be gone
Because humankind can easily get along
As misunderstanding and hatred of the other
Is not possible when in mind we’re together?

Would “I” and “me” disappear overnight
As we share all our thoughts forthright,
No longer needing the phone or internet
Would communications be very intimate?

Would science and arts be transformed
As all would be well informed
Of new ideas and concepts in their spheres
Pushing both rapidly toward new frontiers?

Could we travel through one another
Seeing the worlds beauty would we discover
A experience more than just virtual reality
Bringing us together as if one “nationality”?

Would privacy be dead
Every inner thought known unsaid
As we evolve and transform
Could this become part of a new norm?

Could we pickup thoughts of a dog
Or would they be sensed as if in a fog?
Would our perceptions of all life be different,
Much more connected and reverent?

Would we continue to speak,
And if not would it change our physique,
Leaving the world silent, not a word said,
Except inside everyone’s head?

Imagine us beyond our current ken,
Could we finally reach our Zen,
Becoming a greater consciousness thru emergence
As a result of our mind convergence?

Contest:
Mystic Rose's NEW FRONTIERS OR GREATER CONSCIOUSNESS

Explanation:
Three major emergences are known–matter, life and consciousness.
Could we reach a fourth emergent state poorly defined as "godhood" in the west or possibly better defined as enlightenment or awakening as in Buddhism?

Premium Member The Lord Alone Is God - Deuteronomy 4: 32-40

Moses declares here the Lord is God
for what great things God has done
since He created man on the earth
ask all of heaven's host God is one!

In the midst of fire did any hear?
God's voice has been heard and is alive
surely not for God is the Lord
the only one that can revive

The mighty works God done in Egypt
seen clearly before Israel's eyes
who heard God's voice in their ears
to be disciplined by the Lord on high

Through this means God showed His power
by bringing them out of Egypt so great
so they received an inheritance to this day
leading them through to heaven's gate

In heaven above and earth below
God reigns supreme there's no other
obey His commands and life will be well
with Jesus HIs son your elder brother

(The Lord Alone Is God)
“For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether such a great thing as this has ever happened or was ever heard of. Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live? Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, and by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great deeds of terror, all of which the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him. Out of heaven, he let you hear his voice, that he might discipline you. And on earth he let you see his great fire, and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire. And because he loved your fathers and chose their offspring after them[c] and brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power, driving out before you nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is this day, know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. Therefore you shall keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.”)

Civility and Man: a Historical View

Civility and Man: A Historical View

Since man began to populate the earth,
And feel the pull of Satan’s evil ways.
The angels came to teach the fallen souls:
Proposing righteous ways to live earth days.
Decorum had been taught both then and now.
Man, Adam and his wife with death had played.
The badly chosen fruit waylaid their plight.
Enlightened, but from loving God they strayed.
Significance and consequence brought death.
The mortal two began to populate.
So rules of etiquette began to grow.
And man’s new fate embraced their mortal state.
Before too long, grave envy showed its face.
And Cain did not obey the rules, as taught.
He chose a rock and struck his brother dead.
Civility was not wrought in that rock.

When Moses led his people through the sands.
And Father carved some rules upon a stone.
Uncivilized, they bickered, played, and sinned.
Respect for God and His great words had flown.
When Socrates and Plato came around,
Civility…philosophy was deep.
The Ten Commandments were the reigning rules.
And politics gave zealousness a hold.
George Washington and others wrote some rules.
These rules were social rules, not civil laws.
Civility back then meant manner’s guide.
Respecting one another, yielding self.
The hundred plus ten rules, then set in place.
Fell prey to proper conduct’s judging ways.
And judgment for their lacking could be cruel.
If down the nose one’s self-worth found a sneer.
Dear Harry Truman taught a civil dream.
Of unity within the scope of men,
Together working for the greater good.
All brothers hand in hand respecting each.

The world today is filled with hatred’s fray.
Mankind now turns away from loving ways.
The common man believes all shall be well.
Surprise! Civility is on the road to hell.
Good actions are respecters of all men.
With energy beget not violent ways.
Or great travail shall overcome mankind.
Civility to me, most surely means:
Loving one another, there and at home.
Willfully revising loveless thinking.
Rebuking darkness with the light of love.
Unity and freedom…let us ring.
United wisdom drinking of love’s well,
No longer greeting slaughter of lost hope.
But civilly, rethinking plights of man.

Sorry If I Sound Desperate

I’m at the bar in Havasu
I thought I was through with you…
Guess I wasn’t after all
Lonely and wishing I could cuddle you wild
Sorry that I have been down and about
I miss you tremendously no doubt
I know I sound desperate
I need to quit it...just a bit…

Maybe, baby,
You and I are meant to be; well, possibly
It could happen, you see?
Maybe, baby,
You and I could be free
I want to set you free from captivity
Companion, I must be crazy…

How you held me last night…
Took away my midnight fright
How you fulfilled my needs…
You shared with me your adoration seeds

I bred you with my authentic words of love
I have been entranced by bluebirds from above
Brainwashed by the MK Ultra lullabies…
Brainwashed by society’s downfallen lies

Unbrainwash me, my love…
My bittersweet darling of mine
Unbrainwash me, for I rove
Towards the end of times’ sign

Tainted by the torment of this difficult life
Fainted at His sight and lived through strife
Painted a picture of you and I in rainbow delight
I love you like a saint loves His scriptures tonight

Sorry if I sound desperate all day and night
I guess meeting you was fate – our date felt right
It was meant to be, but being with me
Sounds great – it’s never too late to be free

Feeling the hate when I should be in love…
You handed me roses with prickly thorns
Thoughtlessly, I bled for the sake of love…
You could be an angel with devil horns

I suppose we were compatible in some way
Sorry if I sound desperate all night and day
Fading faith force-fed me with dreadfulness
You maintained faith within my soul of sadness

Murder my madness and mesmerize me with mere merriment
Memorized your forgiving face in the spacious, marvelous sky, I can’t deny
Sentiments sweetly shimmer anew with no hint of resentment
Immobilized by impairment of my heart’s hopefulness that won’t ever dry

Enduring in these hardships the best I can on this Earth
Endearment encourages me to engage in elevating mirth
Eternal exuberance embarks upon my engulfed mind of mysterious melody
My isolation is melting away like ice in the fire, a divine sunshine of serenity

I have been so desperately, so genuinely,
Looking for someone to be with sincerely
Well, I’m heading home now and baby, please know
That maybe we are a flawless match, a fabulous show

A Packet of Lies

A PACKET OF LIES

I will build houses on the oceans
And you shall have no cause to
Cry again like those without shelter;
I will build an Estate and make it
Free of charge for all masses.
I shall declare my assets naked
When you vote for me this time.

All students shall go on scholarship,
I will build schools and hostel for them,
All the beggars shall dine on my table;
No more beggars strike, all are free to beg no more.
When the rain fall, it shall drench none,
The sun shall not harm our children.
One plate of food twice a day for all public school
Children in the country, is that not a change?
All the children shall be well taken care of
Because they are the leaders of tomorrow.

I will take care of the widows in the land,
I shall be their husband day and night,
None shall be barren in this land of hope;
For there shall be plenty to eat and leave.
The widows shall be elevated in my courtyard,
None shall cry over their lost husbands.

Henceforth, I shall do my own share
In the building of this great nation,
I shall attend to matter of the state,
Great delicate diplomatic issues shall I solve.
The roads shall smile and rejoice when I assume office.
I shall share the national cake equally,
I will repair the refineries and fight corruption in the state,
I shall play my own role in the nation building.

Insurgency shall be no more,
Killing and terrorism shall end,
BH shall I conquer within three months in office,
Vote for me! vote for change!! Vote for me!!!
I know the way to the BH's heart which we know.
I shall stand for everyone in the country,
For I shall go against my own grain to satisfy your
Mutual quest of corrupt free country.

Freedom shall be for the Bus-drivers,
The market women shall testify and rejoice,
I will make our currency higher than the pounds.
I am for everybody and not for anyone,
Vote for change not transformation,
Vote for united nation not for disunity.

Vote for freedom of the press,
Vote for social amenities,
I wll serve those that vote for me and those
That didn't vote for me because everyone has his choice to make.
I will turn the country round to favour all,
The hunt and the hunted, and the hunter.
Abundance of bread shall we all live in,
I promise not to fail you when you vote for me.

Structure of the Man

Hour arrived,
Proclaiming first light,
As a shower of mellow sunbeams
Smiled on the foundation laid
For the structure of the man.

And he began to ascend.

Time fused together
An empirical patchwork,
Mirroring the passage of pain and joy,
And slowly and meticulously
Each part melded together,
As a solidarity formed,
And his very existence
Was tested,
As each piece of the puzzle
Fit into place.

And he stood invincible.

Highways ventured off
To ambiguous tributaries,
Triggering decisions to snap into place
And simultaneously causing consequences,
As he played the game of life.
Taking more risks,
He constantly hoped
All would be well,
But a shadow started to form in his mind.

And he wondered why.

The threshing of the merciless hammer
Sank to the bottomless pit of his heart,
And he postponed action for awhile,
As his shell showed the wear and tear
Of his sorrow.
Fine lines, weaker eyes, grayed hair
Landscaped his outward show,
Yet he still found laughter
In roundabout places.

And he pondered more.

Reality unhurriedly and deliberately crept in,
And the bitter truth hit him hard.
A barren emptiness pierced his structure.
Try as he may
To make it go away,
It stood its ground,
As a formidable foe,
Reigning in its scheming majesty,
As it devoured him whole.

And he trembled.

On auto drive,
Days and nights became one,
As a robotic sameness
Mocked and tormented him,
Engulfing his dreams and his hopes
For happiness and purpose.
He forgot about all the exciting possibilities
And relegated himself to a solitary confinement,
As the fissure widened.

And he suffered.

Out of the blue,
Fresh blueprints renovated his perception,
As reinforcement seemed inevitable-
Ready to strengthen his original splendor.
He liked the design
Because it reminded him of his original plan
Of magnitude
Of dignity
Of respect.

And he accepted the proposal.

Layers of veneer removed,
Revealing the beautiful pattern
Still buried within but not lifeless,
And the lights switched on,
As everyone saw who he truly was.
Admiration exceeded even his wildest imagination
As all who passed
Could not help but notice the change from within.

And he stood tall once again.

As everyone marveled
At the beautiful structure of the man

Wow, it happened at a moment when I was most lonely
I walked all alone in the woods, feeling so sorry
Sorry to see around me, so much of blindness
So much of desire for the unnecessary

When, oh how lovely
I felt like I had been blessed
A pouch it was, a pouch of magic beans
Glistening, glowing, sparkling in the dark woods

Was I dreaming, did I wonder
Could it surely be true, that which I see now
Magic beans?
Of what use would they be anyhow

Surely the story of Jack and the giants could not be true
Why would anyone fall for this kind of joke
But I did take the beans home
Slept and dreamed of the other kingdom

While all that time, my dog fooled around
So much that a few beans fell on the ground
Rolled out of the house
And got buried deep in the soil

The next morning, I did see a gigantic tree
One just like in the magical story
Wasted I not one second
I climbed up, eager to see what does lie beyond

I climbed for ages, my arms got worn out
Tired, ready to let go, I did put on a pout
Thirsty, hungry, I thought I would die
Lamenting at my own fate, I started to cry

When at that moment, came to my aid
Caring and loving robots
They put me in their vehicle
And took me up, there, in the world worthy of being a miracle

Would you believe it,
I was given such a treat
I was pampered
Fed and my body repaired

A lovely world it was, filled with clean air
No smoke, no pollution, no death
Robots lived on, being their own masters
Robots who cared not to conquer our world

A peaceful world, with no work required
Life consisted of rest, play and food
Life there was I had always desired
Life there was so good

Flowers filled up every nook and crook
Clear rivers flowed by
Robots did show me how to have fun
It was a world I did fall in love with

I was brought to the King of them all
He did ask me to stay in his world
A guest I was, a most loving one
I was to be well entertained

His offer I did accept
The magical tree I did break
With some cuts here and there
As better it is to breathe in fresh air

The world known as Earth I soon forgot
I lived on, till came my end
My soul was taken and put in a robot
And I lived there, forever and ever!

Premium Member I feel a choir of raw throats shouting hoarse warnings and then quieting

I feel a choir of raw throats shouting hoarse warnings and then quieting,
Leaving a nervous stillness trembling on the lips of the morning,
Or riding the scrolling text at the bottom of the TV screen.
Something is wrong.
There is a restlessness seeping like mist from the lesions
Of the carnage yet to come, a slow decay,
As if all of life waits with bated breath for the moment
When the finger tightens on the trigger of imminent chaos.
And yet, good people go about their lives,
Whispering prayers in quiet corners, helpless,
Angry, or for some, a numb indifference,
Yet somewhere, hidden in the voids behind their minds,
A shadow stirs from its sleep,
Preparing to rise from the bed of silence. Elsewhere,
Across a nation, more and more cries remain trapped
In the throats of the fallen.
Something is wrong.
I feel the weight of the veil of a starless night,
A veil cast over thoughts, a curtain of anxiety,
And in my mind, a melancholic song drenched in shared human fear.
A faint light slips through the cracks of a broken soul,
Casting shadows in the mental alleys, an eternal dance of hope and fear.
Looking around, I see eyes laden with endless questions,
Reflecting the past and the unknown future, a kaleidoscope of doubts
Interwoven with every silent step, every blink of frozen life.
This persistent unease, an invisible specter,
Haunts my consciousness, a reminder of what might be.
A silent call, where the heart dances in agony,
An elusive respite in the tumult of thoughts.
I wonder if this feeling, this sense that something is wrong,
Could be the silent cry of a profound reality,
Whispering to me from the shadows of existence.
In the flow of my consciousness, I wander endlessly,
Searching metaphors and magical visions,
Hoping to find an answer in the labyrinth of the soul,
For I am bound to this song of unease, waiting for dawn to bring clarity
And to heal this crack in the fabric of life, a sign that perhaps, one day, all will be well.
In the mystical twilight of my thoughts, shadows and light
Weave a ballet of ethereal whispers, each movement a living metaphor,
As dreams and fears converge in the silent depths of being,
Revealing secrets hidden in the vestiges of night, awaiting the promise of dawn.

Tomorrow

I don't think much of tomorrow. Well not as much as I should. People say u never know what tomorrow has in store for you. But what about the people in third world counties. Do they believe that food and freedom will just pop up tomorrow. That god will just let loose his tight grip he has on them. And all will be well. don't get me wrong. I don't know what tomorrow may have in store of all of us, but I do know it really never differs from yesterday. Not much changes nowadays. one can say ur life is all in ur hands. But if u believe in a higher power that not possible. Hear me out, god has this big plan for all of us, and i believe in him just like the next guy, but what makes a difference between me and the average joe, is he is too blind to ask questions, too blind to see, and realize that no answer is just as bad as i dont know, which is also, in turn as good as NO.
what people seen to be doing is getting being optimistic mixed up with being real. Yes one can be optimistic but there is a point where we must realize that your not being real with yourself. There have been many times in my life where being optimistic has been taking the easy way, but i knew it would make things harder when the world shows it's ugly face and lets me know that the easy way out only would get me but so far. So i take the hard and better way into everything i do. My dad had gotten sick a few years back, and the word of the year was optimistic. Everyone in my family were saying he was going to get better in no time, which in due time he did. But if u ask me, i think that optimistic feeling they were giving off was a fake, to hide how everyone really felt. Which was, he wasnt going to make it another year, let alone another month. i guess what im trying to say is that, words, feelings, higher powers, are just here to make us feel safe. Like were not alone in this big world. I wonder if this god went on vacation, would half the world even realize it. I dont think i would. We are some busy people. I mean, how many time someone has left the room, and an hour later we are calling their names, thinking their still there. now what if that same person is someone you could never see to begin with. Most of us wouldnt even know he/she has ever shown up.
