Premium Member Confession

Confession is the telling of our sins to a duly authorized priest, for the purpose of abstaining forgiveness

We are bound to confess our mortal sins. But it is well also to confess our venial sins.

The chief qualities of a good confession are three: it must be humble, sincere and entire.

Our confession is humble when we accuse ourselves of our sins, with a deep sense of shame and sorrow for having offended God

Confession are sincere, when we tell our sins honestly and truthfully either exaggerating nor excusing them

Confession is entire, when we tell the number and kinds of our sins and the circumstances which change their nature

If we cannot remember the number of our sins, we should tell the number as nearly as possible, and say how often we may have sinned in a day, a week or a month and how long the habit or practice lasted.

If without our fault we forget to confess our mortal sin Tour Confession is worthy, and the sin is forgiven; but it must be told on confession if it again comes to our mind

It is grievous offense willfully concealed a mortal sin in Confesasion must not only confess it, but also repeat all the sins he has committed since his last worthy confession.

The priest gives us a penance after Confession, that we may satisfy God for the temporal punishment due to our sins

The Sacrament of Penance remits the eternal punishment due to sin but does not always remit the temporal punishment which God requires as satisfaction for our sins

God requires a temporal punishment as a satisfaction for sin, to teach us the great evil of sin and to prevent us from falling again.

The chief means by which we satisfy God for the temporal punishment due to sin are: Prayer, Fasting, Almsgiving, all spiritual and corporal works of mercy, and the patient suffering of the ills of life

Spiritual works of mercy are 7: To admonish the sinner, to instruct the ignorant, to counsel the doubtful, to comfort the sorrowful, to bear wrongs patiently, to forgive all injuries, and to pray for the living and the dead.

The Chief corporal works of mercy are 7: To feed the hungry, to give drink to the thirsty, to cloth the naked, to ransom the captive, to harbor the harborless, to visit the sick and to bury the dead

Forsaken Love

Dear lover, why hast thou forsaken me
my miserable life now cut in shreds
If only thee had instead set me free
love, no longer sharing our silkened beds

To what ending hath thou denied my love
with darkness cast into our sadden souls
Once our future sailed on so far above
any lost, mundane and unworthy goals

There were eternal sparkles in your eyes
touching that declareth our loving so true
Now blackness clouds into our lost skies
crying, my heart breaks into missing you!

How sad! That you dwelleth within the dark
Letting deceit erase our loving spark.

(3)thou
thou/
You may have been told that "thou" and "thee" were for familiar use, and "you" and "ye" were
formal. This was not true originally, but it was true for about two centuries, roughly 1450-1650,
including Shakespeare's time. The previously plural "you" was used in the singular to signify
politeness and respect, which left "thou" and "thee" for all the other singular uses, ranging
from endearing intimacy to bitter rudeness. Eventually, the politer "you" drove out nearly all
uses of "thee" and "thou"; they survived mostly in poetry and religion.

We Are Not Afraid

Why should we be afraid?
If this were the case,
There would be no United States.

The founding fathers were not afraid
To face imprisonment or death;
General Washington led the Continental Army
To defeat British tyranny of America.

And if the Electoral College had not been constituted,
Abraham Lincoln would not have been elected.
And if President Lincoln had been afraid
Of the plantation owners, and sympathizers,
And the Supreme Court justices;
Black Americans would still be enslaved.

And so, when bullied for political belief
Remember FDR’s inaugural speech
To the Nation during the Great Depression,
‘The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.’
Stand up and say, “We are not afraid!”
                         ***

Notes:
1) George Washington: 1st President of the United States (1789 to 1797) – no political party.

2) Abraham Lincoln: 16th President of the United States (1861 to 1865) – Republican Party.

3) Franklin D. Roosevelt: 32nd President of the United States (1933 to 1945) – Democratic Party.

4) Sept. 17, 1787: ‘Constitution of the United States of America’ adopted and signed at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

5) March 6, 1857: ‘Dred Scott Decision, aka Dred Scott v. Sandford’ (United States Supreme Court): ruling 7 – 2 in favor of Sandford. In the opinion authorized by Chief Justice Roger Taney stated that ‘Persons of African descent cannot be, nor were ever intended to be, citizens under the U.S. Constitution…’ i.e. Black people were not and never could be American citizens and therefore not protected under the Constitution.

6) November 6, 1860: Abraham Lincoln of the Republican Party was elected POTUS with 40% of the popular vote but won the majority of the electoral college with 180 electoral votes out of 303. One hundred and fifty-two electoral votes were needed to win.

7) The Great Depression (1929-1939): The Great Depression was a period of severe economic hardship, affecting the industrialized Western World.

Premium Member Otis Trench

This article is about the underground lyricist and outlaw musician. For other uses, see Zoltan Goliath, Brent Scorn, Lydia Fox, C. Günter Marrow, Elzbieta Bienga (disambiguation).

Otis (Trench Mouth) Trench was born with pneumonia in a black-rain steel town in Third World, Pennsylvania. He was not expected to survive and received Last Rites. His unction was so extreme, however, Death could not grab hold and he slipped away. He grew up wild, learned his letters from a ragman’s son and took off for the high country and the deep blue sea. Upon his return, he landed a job tending bar in a low life shot-and-beer joint called the Old Salem Tavern, but referred to by locals as The Country Whore Inn. He began composing lyrics as a way of minding the tide and easing the drift. It continues to be an on-going process. In a recent interview with the fashion editor of A Dim, Dark Mirror, Mr. Trench was quoted as saying:

At this specific stage of my existence, and in consideration of the circumstances in which I find myself, it surprises me to discover that rumors of my downfall have been insinuated within the chronology of my tenure, since, upon completion of an extensive and thorough inventory of my physical and spiritual estate, as best can be determined by the faculties I still retain within my possession and deemed by myself to be valid and reliable given an honest assessment of the facts of the matter; I testify for the official record, and in a fashion suitable to be notarized, authorized and cauterized, that regarding the state of my particulars, I am of the firm, unwavering opinion, despite whatever dissenting voices may be heard chiming discordantly in some distant pasture of manure-sodden earth seeking to either disturb my slumber or provoke my wrath, and regardless of whatever graying whiskers I may in fact possess, I aver assuredly that in contradiction to all appearances and any other details not withstanding – my ass ain’t draggin’ yet. In consideration of my prognosis, would you hike up your skirt a little higher, honey?

In the silent embrace of mystical twilight, I lose myself in deep introspections,
Looking inward, feeling the silent barriers stretching around me,
While the outer world buzzes with a feverish intensity,
Echoes and rages reverberating through streets adorned with flags,
Drums sounding loudly, calling the fevered minds of the crowd.
Something has gone awry.
I feel I no longer belong.
I seal my door tightly, draw the blinds to keep out the chaos of the outer world,
Fortifying the sanctuary of my home with walls of scrolls and ancient tomes,
They have invaded every quiet path where I once walked,
Covering beauty with strident signs and unresolved disturbances.
Something has gone awry.
I feel I no longer belong.
Out there, value seems lost unless tied to a fervent cause,
Tribal voices hurling insults across the widening chasms of division,
Their gods enlisted to preach an authorized and bitter hatred,
Disturbing the harmony of every dream and whispered thought.
Something has gone awry.
I feel I no longer belong.
What can my weary heart do but murmur with fragile hope,
Dreaming of what was or what might still be possible,
In the twilight hours, finding solace and defiance,
In the enchanted, melancholic verses of Bacovia.
In these mystical twilights, where shadows blend with lost light,
I weave my thoughts like a delicate thread through the chaos of existence,
Seeking solace in the silent whispers of ancient pages,
And in the quiet, silver embrace of the moon,
Absorbing the world’s discord as distant, passing echoes,
Creating an inner sanctuary, a realm untouched by time,
A sphere where magic and melancholy dance in silent, eternal grace.
In the gentle embrace of the ethereal twilight, where shadows intertwine with the fading light,
I anchor my soul in the unseen, where the ephemeral whispers of lost worlds dwell,
Living in the old and wise pages, resonating with the voices of times gone by,
Finding my refuge in the realms of moonlit dreams and starry silence.

War Is

War Is...

War is unkind to servicemen, women, animals, flora, fauna, nature's terrains, seas, atmospheres, and everything else
War is unjust and unethical to everyone
War is the slaughtering of innocent young and old men and women of both sides which are fighting for their leader's version of freedom, or simply protecting themselves from so called enemies
War is fought on both domestic and forgein lands
War is authorized and legalized mass murder of both sides
War is an inevitable necessity evil in order to be free
War is beyond expensive monetarily, mentally, physically, psychologically, death stats, and causality states versus survival stats
War is heartbreaking, heart-wrecking, and heart-wrenching, to the servicemen, to the parents, lovers, wives, husbands, and children of servicemen on both sides
War is caused by several different variables usually for economic and territorial gain
religion, Nationalism, revenge, Civil War,
revolutionary, being defensive, ethnic cleansing and other ideological mass killings, globalism, world domination, and so many others
War is fought by young and old men and women as either draftees, or volunteers
War is ugly
War is horrific
War is traumatic
War is dramatic
War is psychologically scarring
War is terrifying
War is brutal
War is common
War is unpopular
War is propagated
War is hated
War is detrimental
War is immoral
War is sometimes manufactured
War is unpreventable
War is fighting for your and their commander-in-chief's ideologies whether you like it or not
War is glorified
War is sometimes created by opposing forces in order to gain something from one another
War is everything I mentioned above and so much more
War is not a favorite of mine, however, as United States Navy veteran and having lots of veterans in my family as well there is no harm in honoring and respecting the young and old men and women who died in war for us, and those that didn't die in battle but still served in the military for all of us!

I consulted him first and foremost. I prayed and prayed and prayed. What was I suppose to do? God delayed, delayed, and delayed. God stayed, stayed, and stayed away. What was I suppose to do?
God was taking too too long. It was getting too too late. What was I suppose to do? So I engaged in an activity that was neither appropriate nor authorized for me. I consulted a medium and engaged her craft
I knew it was forbidden; I knew it was wrong. Yes, I knew better, but I did it anyway. But what was I suppose to do when God did not answer me? God answered me neither by dreams, signs, nor prophesy.
There is no excuse because I refused to wait, wait, and wait. Knowing what to do, I simply refused and did it not.

Premium Member The Mystery of the Na

I was once really new to our Poetry Soup,
and I knew I should try to join in with the group;
post my poems on-site to be read by a few,
and then give it a whirl, join a contest or two.

Soon a couple of them were a win, a good score;
was on top of the world, so I entered one more.
But to my big surprise when that contest was done,
my sad eyes saw in fact that my write had not won.

I clicked on 'Contest Entries' and saw it was there.
But, behold, a strange sign near that one, I declare!
A N/A- what was that? Very weird, was this right?
Could not find what it meant anywhere on the site.

So I looked up N/A on the Internet, but
what I found was not good, left me still in a rut.
This N/A symbolized a long list, now for me,
my head spun to fit in which of these it could be??

   N/A…Not Applicable………Did I not follow rules?
N/A…Not Available………Did my entry get lost?
N/A…No Answer………Did they try to call me?
   N/A…Not Authorized………Did I need an okay?
   N/A…No Action………Did I fail to take steps?
   N/A…Negative Approach………Did I say something wrong?
N/A…Not Analyzed………Should my write be explained?
   N/A…No Acknowledgement………Did I fail to respond?
N/A…No Account………Did PS lose my file?

I Soup-Mailed contest judge and her answer therein,
“Well you see, the N/A means your piece did not win!"
Now I still do not know what N/A represents
When my poems don't win in Soup contest events!
