The ear that listens
is missing.
Injustice and misery
is all this place has to offer
one like myself.
They stole my means,
my children’s bread,
and sleep peacefully in whoredom’s bed,
without contemplation.
Anyway, I was a man in a woman’s world,
and she had to let me know who is the boss.
The same voices that bless you today
will curse you tomorrow.
In a place like this, for one like myself,
happiness is a thing of the past.
Friends, here, are thieves and beggars
looking for something.
I missed standing under the street light
until the cock crows,
and the first light shines
through the coconut grove.
I missed the months, even years, it takes
yearning for that one woman,
and when it finally happens it is magical,
perfectly enchanting.
I treasure the old days when hunger was a close companion;
everything came with blood, sweat and tears.
My God, I missed those years!
I missed watching the swine playing in the mud by the pond.
I missed walking home from work with the rain cascading on my back,
counting the street lamps on that five-mile-trot –
Adelphi to Goodwill.
Around here, they don’t really mean it when they say well done;
it’s just words,
and words mean nothing here,
unless it is gossip.
One day an old lady makes me laugh,
but I forget to thank her;
I should’ve let her know she makes my day.
It is not easy traveling this road with fools pushing rewind.
You never finish a journey with a sigh of satisfaction.
You get a slap in the face,
instead of a pat on the back.
I guess, this is the American dream;
this nightmare gives you no time to react.
Frigid hearts pump cold blood down the same stream,
and smiles fade swiftly,
plastic smiles.
My blessings and theirs …
are taken lightly.
For whom now hath the death bell tolled?
The answer, for thee, a soul weary and old.
Did thou know times line was ever thinning?
I regret to inform, this battle, thee isnt winning.
Wipe away the despondant frown dear old man.
Time's up and thee knows it now as thee did then.
Turn about thy eyes and look upon this hollow shell
Of the person, of thou body, that thee knew so well.
Thou say thee still had too many loose ends,
Family to bid adieu, severences to make amends.
For now, dear sir, deaths bell hath tolled.
For now, dear sir, deaths bell hath tolled.
Think of it as a new beginning.
Think of it as a new beginning.
Thy soul, thy mind, they now fly free.
Connected to each other, much like the earth and sea.
Thou does not need thy flesh upon the white bed
Already lost to bacteria being readily fed.
Thou should be exuberant, why so bleak?
Thou is no longer sickly, decreppid, and weak.
Thou claims life was not supposed to be over just yet,
Even though thou now stares at thy body thee left...
For now, dear sir, deaths bell hath tolled.
For now, dear sir, deaths bell hath tolled.
Thou is no longer a man.
Thou is no longer a man.
Thou is a spirit, a ghost, a voiceless whisp of wind.
Judgement times comes now, will thou soar or descend?
All thy faults, are on the scales, now stacked.
Will thy good deeds outweigh leaving thy soul intact?
Accept thy life is over - Heaven is euphoric and hell is deep.
It's pointless right now to implore mercy, it's pointless now to weep.
Judgement passed old heart, may these words but pacify.
They soul is thee's to keep, worry not and swiftly fly...
For now, dear sir, deaths bell hath tolled.
For now, dear sir, deaths bell hath tolled.
rubbish to some
I am an old lady and sorry to say
the powers that be are coming today
and bringing a skip to take my rubbish away.
i sit hear alone in my rubbish strewn house
my cat quite happy to catch the odd mouse
old dog Bess doesn't mind the mess,
papers are warm and keep out the cold.
My life all round meupset and strewn
the carpet stinks what a smell in the room
old books piled high and ornaments rare
expensive clothes lying on chairs,
no one comes near I'm sad to say
I try to wash and put things away
but I struggle with no one to help
the problem is I wont let them in.
I'm ashamed of the dirt and the mess I am In
so their coming today to take my treasures away
If they throw ME in the skip I wont mind a bit.
RANDOM REMEMBRANCES
Listen to what I am going to talk about
Because I swear there is no doubt
Listen to the following truth I have to say
Us junkies have changed the world in a very profound way
Next time your baby is crying for his pacifier feel the middle
There’s a hard tube to stop it from squeezing all the way and it wasn’t there when we were
little
They put it there because junkies were using pacifiers to shoot heroin, cocaine and speed
Junkies required a lot of things back then and an old fashioned pacifier was definitely a need
When we were growing up and you had a really bad cough there was syrup for you to drink
And now each time I take something for a cold it makes me stop and think
No one did this because they hated addicts or because they were just plain mean
But I remember, back in the days of old when cough medicine came with codeine
And as the nation grew bigger so did the problem at hand
Things were going down only us addicts could understand
We’ve changed these things and if I had more time I’d tell you the rest
Oh yes, us junkies are also responsible for the random piss test

YO! D. My infinite pal…..good huh….then how come ain’t no one but you
And a handful (if they were Mr. Travis Ian’s size) of people
Are reading me?……from America to you’re your town in Heaven!

MARK THIS DOWN AS BEING TRUE MARK
Some people just don’t get the fact that some people just don’t get other people
Why, then, does it seem so evident that I get every type of person who exists?
I know junkies like me, and I get why they’d steal my wake-up shot
And yet people cause harm to other people in the name of I don’t know what and it
only persists
Some people don’t get some people but that person gets them
And they recognize when a person can get played
Like that blonde over there searching for an old Sugar Daddy
Because apparently 85 year old men still want tol get laid
A player can only play a person who’s eye is on the prize
So he’s too busy praying to look out for people who’ll play them, like me
They’re easy to recognize because they’re at the slot machine for hours
They’re a big winner so he or she cashes out, and then I follow, rob him or her and
then flee
He’s called a “mark” and I’ve known many “marks” even some named Mark
I can pick them out of the casino like an old lady can pick out a ripe melon
So we junkies and low lives spend all our cash yet still live low on the hog
Until we all go to jail and become just another f*****g felon

PRISONER #666666666
I WILL NOT DANCE BECAUSE IT’S THE SAME OLD SONG
Walk a high wire
Walk on the third rail
Walk on fire
And I’ll explain in this one short tale
I thought for sure it wouldn’t get me
I would get it and I got it for sure
You wouldn’t recognize me if you met me
Because I’ve the wounds of a disease no one can cure
There’s about ten thousand things I’d rather do
Find and lose a lovely lady like you
I’d rather be caged like a tiger in the zoo
As slowly my disease progressed and grew
So here sit I on the subway steps a victim of what I sought
Never did I think this could happen to me and hurt so many
Then by the needle was I trapped and thusly caught
And no one would believe my story if I revealed my thoughts for a penny
If it was worth any money I’d kill a cute little rabbit
And when I see an old lady with a diamond I nab it
If a man in a wheel chair is counting his cash I just grab it
Because these are the things I do every day to sustain a dope habit
Be caught in a bear trap
Find hell with a map
See my mother die and not care
But kick a habit like this I do not dare

STATION INFORMATION BUT NOT ABOUT A HAITIAN
For example, take that man over there
Or this woman who’s standing right here
You don’t know who and what they actually are
Perhaps, as did I, they spent all day in a bar
A tavern where the barkeep keeps secrets well
And forgets what he heard at the final call bell
that fourteen year old might have fourteen bags of meth on him?
Alas, these imagined images undoubtedly are growing dim
See that little old lady in a wheelchair,
The one the well groomed gray and white hair?
Well she may be forty with heroin up her ass
But to cops looking like a little old lady gives her more class
So instead of just waiting for a bus or a train
Train your eyes on the prize, which is my brain
Because street smarts were supposed to pay off BIG TIME
And I’d ask that lady for some of what’s up her ass but I ain’t even got a dime

There is no penalty aint no penalty mate…
The old crim smirked and laughed out loud
As they sat with a beer and a steak
Do what you like he told the crowd
The do goode'rs laws are cake
Break the law in Singapore
get flogged for your mistake
the penalty there will make you sure
don’t get caught in that island state
the druggie drove with his foot to the floor
cursing motorists in his wake
Knocked down old Thelma dead for sure
3 months for his mistake
We know it is a system fault
That stops a computer mate
Do we have nothing up top in our vault
Do we control our fate
Minority groups control the world
The masses have no say
Anarchy's banner is unfurled
And the terrorists protected hey
Don Johnson
Should we have a referendum to return the old respected system of law and order
That worked well in the sixties …yes for sure ..
Without discipline anarchy prevails
