Simhaladvipa

"Simhaladvipa or simply Simhala is the name of an island (dvipa) according to the Kathasaritsagara, chapter 56. Accordingly, “... there he [Candrasvamin] heard that the merchant Kanakavarman had gone from that island to an island named Karpura. In the same way he visited in turn the islands of Karpura, Suvarna and Simhala with merchants, hut he did not find the merchant whom he was in search of”.

The Kathasaritsagara (‘ocean of streams of story’), mentioning Simhaladvipa, is a famous Sanskrit epic story revolving around prince Naravahanadatta and his quest to become the emperor of the vidyadharas (celestial beings). The work is said to have been an adaptation of Gunadhya’s Brhatkatha consisting of 100,000 verses, which in turn is part of a larger work containing 700,000 verses."

Let Us Pray

For Ojemakinde Blessing Oluwapelumi

Our father
Let her days go farther

Who art
Enriching Thy words in her heart

In heaven
To fulfilling her career's dream work in Devon

Hallow be
Grace to caress this decree

Thy name
Bring her and her destiny out of shame

Thy kingdom come
Her organs do be in form

Thy will
That devil be still

Be done
Have enough fun

On earth
Bless her darling worth

As it is
That destiny fulfilment comes at ease

In heaven
Make favour her working leaven

And forgive us
Her as well been a year plus

Her trespass
Make all temptations of her bypass

As she forgives
Plan against her pursuits outlives

Those who trespass
Let her time be of ages amass

Against us
Though cum health, let her not fuss

And lead her not
Into enemies well planned plot

Into temptation
For no one is ever of saint's adaptation

But deliver
Her of every canal's quiver

Her also from evil
Luring heart's desire to devil

For Thine
To do the unexpected divine

Is the kingdom
Where never exist boredom

And the power
Endow grace today cum birthday shower

And the glory
Bring difference to last year's story

For ever
In every of her career's endeavor

And ever
Cum disturbance in whatsoever

Enjoy ...

Less Than Human

Two thousand years ago Robot John came by
As a gift from mom and pop at Christmas
Wrapped in orange paper made in Russia
Signed “Peace and Love Forever” Santa

The android stood as tall as life with flashing lights
Big blue eyes that never blinked or cried
It posed a million questions in need of answers
Programmed by parents bent on my happiness

Robot John would be my friend forever playing
Protecting me from bullies and enemies alike
Teaching me to speak in several languages at a time
It seemed like fun and games would never stop

How wrong was I for dreaming such a fantasy?
As I grew older the robot took control of things
It beat me every day for pleasure
Using logic and a piece of wood for my own good

Mom and dad did not believe in punishment
They delegated that to Mr. Robot friend
If only I could find the turn off switch
So I could dismantle him

(in case of mistakes below..... i've not re-read it...on purpose....mmmhahaha)

sorry that's how time passes sometimes...
i'd a poem
about psychopathic thinking, andt...

it bothers me such as
history continues with...
its 'martyrs' for a cause

that exists no more...
only as histories facts
in some book...

believers thinking they understand
something about reality and time when...
reality is as a continuity of

a series or sequence of...
patterns in the 'environment'
observers themselves call a...

reality so to speak
but by their definitions...
it is a logic which they define

as being that is as it exists...
now does that not contradict the
basics of logic with respect...

a being of the concept of
continuity that is change that...
in itself is what is time

but yes adaptation to...
what is time can be challenging
especially when it is...

such a numbing to...
what does pass as a reality that is
to believers genuine but only...

bull from conflicting
con=men out for thems'elfs' and...
not all being martyrs for some

'higher ups'...
anyway it's
suppertime now

is on the spot...
so i'll sign off
for now..

Premium Member WHALES AND CHILDREN

Have you ever watched whales sleep? They have this wonderful adaptation.
They float effortlessly in the water…a kind of suspended animation.

Have you ever watched a baby sleep? If you ever have the chance to
you’ll see how in a dreamland they float effortlessly…a lot like whales do.

It seems we’re similar in a myriad of ways with our companions of the deep.
one way in particular…is the way in which we sleep

We are both beautiful in sleep…a time when worries and troubles cease.
We become united in our serenity…our silence, our solitude, our peace.

And sleep is where our dreams are made…be they simple…or extreme.
I wonder while they’re suspended in their sleep…of what do whales dream?

Do they dream of leaving the ocean? Do they dream of floating up to the stars?
Would we be surprised if they could tell us…how their dreams are similar to ours?

If their dreams are similar to ours…as I suspect,
when we take a moment to compare…
we begin to find between us…many other things we share.

We both are born, we eat, we breathe…
we love, we die…we weep.
Isn’t it amazing the things we can discover
while watching whales and babies sleep?

Immotu Nunc

Consciousness seeps,
the air moves.
Quickly reach!
Break forth from your tomb.
Visability blurred as my head swoons.
Instincts react! Frozen in place my eyes roam.
What was that?! I am not alone.
Instincts react! Quickly I'm gone.
Hidden in back. Allowing my senses to hone.
My vision now intact. I search the unknown.
Momentarily my sanity cracks. Unbelievable what I'm shown.
Spiderlings scurrying I'm taken aback. As the big One grips a door-like throne.
Where am I at? This isn't my home.

Quickly taking stock of the shell that now houses my existence.
The panic grows instead of lessens.
For now I realize I am a spider curse or blessing.
Adaptation is survival I start assessing.

Eight strong, stocky yet creepy legs.
A body and thankfully not two heads.
Two eyes in the center, three on the right, three on the left.
I open my mouth to speak and feel a fangs sharp edge.

A sinister emotion emerges from the deep.
Realizing with these I shall kill and eat.
The shock is gone as I quickly creep.
From shadows to corners I emerge and sneak.
As each one of my siblings meet with their defeat.
One by one I locate them before they retreat.
I pounce fast and sink in my teeth.
Two pops as within them I be.
Their life oozes and squirts in my cheeks.
Dropping them to the floor at my feet.
On and on I go like the Goddess Neith.
Killing each one weaving my destiny.

Right before I reach what seems like the last.
I catch sight of something but it was too fast.
Before the next breath, I was snatched up and swung. Flying into the wall where the trapdoor hung. Crash!

Quick to recover I face my assailant.
But with a size surpasses gigantic.
And at the moment not a fanatic.
Deadly glares from the mother, a dangerous combatant.
I quickly mask my aggression and pretend to be gallant.

My heavy breaths release the heat of the fight.
As I see through the cracks that it's no longer night.
The trapdoor that feeds us closed up tight.
Food is given and taken much to my delight.
Snagging mine quickly enough then hiding from sight.
Safely tucked far back in a crevice away from daylight.
I eat and I sleep well maybe not quite.
For a hunter must always be prepared for the bite.

Premium Member Living to Die, Dying to Live

("Before the Door", 2023, original encaustic)

I know I’m going to die
Sooner of later Death comes for us all
Like an old best friend
Who was always patiently waiting.
But I also know from personal experience
That he comes only at the perfect time
Despite what we may think.

Death has already come for many
Family and friends and dear pets
I have known and loved
So I do know what it looks like
At least from my perspective
As an outside observer and sometime flirt
But I don’t know what it’s actually like.

And from what I’ve seen
I don’t think I ever will know,
Because you know,
When you’re dead, you’re dead,
And even if there is an immortal soul
It doesn’t die, so it doesn’t know death either!
What we do know, either way, is Life.

We know it because we are it.
We see it all around us, we feel it in us.
We see it come and go, Death again,
But we see it, and feel it, continue,
Morphing continuously in ever changing
Creative adaptation.
That’s the big picture we’re just a part of.

One day I know I, and all I love, will be gone.
There is trepidation as that day approaches
Of course, but there is solace too
Knowing it is both inevitable and irrelevant
Since I won’t actually be here for that day
At least for its end.
What I do have is this day, simply this.

President Elect Alexandria Ocasio Cortez 2024

President Elect Alexandria Ocasio Cortez - 2024

Circa...Approximately one month
following her thirty fifth birthday
October 13th, 2024
AOC became the first
female commander in chief,
and youngest person ever

to assume Oval Office
amidst landslide victory
among competing candidates
ousting current establishment incumbent,
elected to serve United States
despite being neophyte,

she received most
votes of any contender
since founding of Democracy
to assume modestly furnished
Capitol Hill - Washington
District of Columbia

most powerful post
within the United States
immediately electrifying North America
with her megawatt smile
crackling, snapping, and popping
with positivity, integrity, energy...

Deafening applause swept across nation
upon ascending dais prior to uttering one word,
she immediately wowed
darling of the hour received standing ovation
across greensward donned bajillion crowd
cheering, imploring, pumping...

green sleeved fists acclamation
action speaking decibels
louder than words bowed
young lady brought to genuine tears,
asper bona fide accreditation
understandable that newly

minted ma'am felt proud
to stride rite, (an air of modest
confidence) did enshroud,
sans an angelic halo augmenting
as optimistic words heard aloud

heralded sincere charming, intimating,
radiating... no frills accustomation
as if pledging troth to every citizen
(inclusive every flora and fauna) vowed
to steer ship of state toward ecologically,
environmentally, essentially...activation

away from fossil fuels shifting energy
consumption vis a vis alternate modalities
sow rejuvenation plowed
back into Earth prioritizing monied allocation
(dollar amount well worth investment) actualization,
where future generations will be grateful

to dead recent forebears for gift endowed
worth more than fine spun gold regarding
preservation of Gaia, how *****sapiens adaptation
made existence for all living creatures
(animals, plants, even this fungi) healthier allowed
populace to breathe easy and rest assured

quality of life for billions (ushering universal
family planning), despite tense adjudication,
especially when linkedin with
nuclear warheads disavowed,
but eventually kickstarted synergistic administration.

Toast To Probability

To the love of time
Which never reach it's prime
Moving forward and backward
More in a dazzling zig-zag inward

To the purest expectation
With little or no adaptation
Filming enjoyment without bill
More like free breezes on hill

To the lust of the tongue
Which roast for the young
But has forgotten that hanger
Is hotter than mere real hunger

To the eyes steering at the moon
With less energy flying out soon
May be it would catch up with it
Or miss it-- a more shameful hit

To the fear of trial
That energizes denial
And makes sure the absence
Is reckoned seeing its affluence

To the upcoming regret
What daily report beset
Telling the story of sorry
Maybe that won't drive my lorry
