weighing the total sum of existence
is not a skill which is given to us
lying well beyond realm of human minds
even those of prophets and wunderkinds
requiring eternal omnipotence
along with very dogged fixedness
on the tracking of every single change
within unending universe of strange
perhaps why all the gods are too busy
to notice devotees in a tizzy
over all who will not follow their rules
deride and treat them as self-righteous fools
certainly some will call this blasphemy
which should result in incapacity
removal of the right to live and breathe
to do any ungodly thing I please
while others may react slightly more gentle
needing to indoctrinate this fellow
fill me to the brim with scriptures and verse
before my condition becomes much worse
coming right back to the totality
that driving need to measure all which be
inevitably to count, sift and sort
that which their true religion should abort
keeping it all very crisp, neat and clean
creating an accounting-of-souls dream
I for one have no evil scheme or wish
within the sacrilegious pond to fish
fully content to not bother the gods
measuring of totality and odds
Here we are in 1650, which is ten minutes to five
swing the wheel to the West, which is left,
put your sun cream away, man the mizzen and the stays
as we set off for some murder and some theft.
You'll find us as your hosts on the sunny Barbary Coast
and from there we venture forth to ply our trade
we've been out leaving them for dead from the Atlantic to the Med
before we skittle off back home our fortunes made
With a yo-ho-ho and a barrel of grog
and an arrr and some other cliches
table leg for a thigh and a patch on me eye
as a Pirate I will end my days
As I previously stated we all get inebriated
from our copious imbibing of the grog
our excuse is there's no Cola in the bars of Hispaniola
which is why we need the hair of the dog
With a yo-ho-ho and a barrel of grog
and an arrr and some other cliches
table leg for a thigh and a patch on me eye
as a Pirate I will end my days
Got a woman in Bermuda and another in Tortuga
and they give me lots of lovin' for some coins
and although they're very foxy they're just both a pair of doxies
which I'm sure explains the rash around me groin
With a yo-ho-ho and a barrel of grog
and an arrr and some other cliches
table leg for a thigh and a patch on me eye
as a Pirate I will end my days
Now we're really no buffoons when it comes down to doubloons
and our treasure chests are burstin' at the seams
then old Blackbeard started spouting about doing our accounting
so I said (before I shot him) 'in your dreams'
(ye chorus)
As we skirmish the Atlantic I was starting to get frantic
since the one thing on my voyage I've always feared
is the men who've not been coming for a while across some women
have all started wearing lipstick, which is weird
(arr, the chorus again)
Well it's reached that point me hearties where we anchor down and party
so me shipmates here on board I'd like to thank
though the mix of food and beer has now given me diarrhea
which is why I've made our cook just walk the plank
(for thee last time, chorus, arrrr)

(Author's note- there are several spellings of diarrhea, but it doesn't matter, they all have 'arr' in 'em, me hearties)

Upon a midnight arithmetic
While counting my letters from my attic
That moment my soul grew matrix operation
I felt compelled to sniff the calculations.
~
The quantum mechanics laughed
one plus one
And the particle physics never accounting
The multiplex econometric estimating
My applied mathematics, I could not awaken
The computational curriculum ciphering breathtaking
~
once and again
All my soul within me deciphering
The scalar supercilious surveying
I remember I was ciphering
'It's that computing,' I muttered denying
~
one plus one
And its eyes have all the coding
It was downloading
And the physics never ciphering
while rifling miss referring
one minus one
For as I have sworn by my numeric picnic
While I pondered, mathematical and phonetics
I remember I was counting
I awoke and flung the molecular biologic.
Much I marvelled the Dirichlet grammar
It was taxpaying
And its eyes have all the surveying
That joint probability, joint probability quarantining.
I remember I was computing
I awoke and flung the solutions
I heard mathematics, simple physicking
~Mathematics one plus one

WRITTEN WORDS BY James Edward Lee Sr. 2020©
Down this once famous graveled road
I drive by day and drive by night
my mind replaying stories of times past.
As if thinking about them
can make them real again.
Buildings standing with new faces, signs.
I see them now only as they once were
in my childlike memory, mind.
Each corner sparks a lost thought.
Transparent faces of townies crossing cross streets
a blur of long gone friends and schemes
living only in my most selfish dreams.
The Devon Horse Show grounds
where the Main Line's best show off
at its annual celebrated competition.
Villanova University where I honed my hoopster skills
a high-schooler sneaking into the gym on snowy days.
The Bouquet Flower Shop where I summer jobbed.
The Bryn Mawr Deli where I waitered posing for
giggling girls of crosstown Harcum College.
"Good Counsel" church, my reverent gothic fortress
for those important beliefs that later would fall away.
The Bryn Mawr Trust Bank that juts out proudly
on the main corner, a gray stoned prominence
where accounting of my money's worth was kept.
It too a dream. A dream of a future now lived.
Sepia shadows of decades ago.
A feeling of loss wells up within me
of time I want back again.
To right lost wrongs. To try again somehow.
Sometimes I turn away so not to remember.
But I have no way of getting there.
Street after street, ghost after ghost
looking down alleys and ways
in my haunting trance.
So many visions with no redeeming consequences.
Simple reminiscences of my time, my simple life
and this once famous graveled road.
the gospel of Luke is the most detailed accounting of Jesus Christ
It reveals His conception, His early childhood and His missionary life
In the gospel of Luke he tells about God's 2 part master plan
to deliver a Messiah into Israel's hands
the first part of the plan was to send an anointed blessing
to Zachariah and Elizabeth for all their years of childless stressing
a son was finally born to them whose mission would be one of preparation
John the Baptist who would pave the way for the One coming to deliver salvation
the second part of the plan was the supernatural conception of God's chosen one
a virgin girl with a true faith to be the vessel for His earthly son
Mary was her name and in her the Lord God had found favor
the 2nd cousin to John the Baptist and now to become the mother of our Savior
Mary went to her cousin Elizabeth and told her of the Angel's words
at first she was anxious and troubled and then she thought it was absurd
then Elizabeth said, look at me, I carry a miracle in my aged womb
and if the Angel of God said that to you in your mind now make the room
we are connected by blood and it makes perfect sense and sound reasoning
that God would give us both a miracle
in order to do what for Him is most pleasing
and at that meeting the child in Elizabeth's womb
received the Holy Spirit and jumped for joy
the confirmation that Mary was the vessel chosen
to bring forth God's little boy
called to be a vessel Mary was the chosen one
called to be a vessel to give life to God's only Son
as God has a purpose and a mission for each of us
and all He asks is that in His word we learn to trust
for when God gives you a word the situation is already in place
and when God gives you a word just accept His infinite wisdom and grace
it might not make much sense to you but that's all right
just do whatever God desires of you and be acceptable in His sight
called to a vessel for in you God has found favor
called to be a vessel because of your obedient behavior
called to be a vessel by accepting God's purposeful hands
when you're called to be a vessel to carry out the Lord's master plans
The long hard journey through
past to progress
These day's has far few many stops to make along it's tried and tested daily route to commute
As cutting costs has so many
uneconomic station laid bare
in it's path
Deemed unsustainable via
accounting computer program
ledgers with countless bites
of memory to spare
Once filled with dumpster full
of coal and shoals of eadible
fish pulse and grain
To steel the masses for another
working day to breathe new life
into industry
To service the never ending
escalating intresest on banking
loans that prop-up wall street share
prices
In order to finance and build a new
Mall , Factory , Hotel or Flats
On the grave of our past long
before they have even been
pronounced dead
It happened to the cowboys
It happened to the miners
It happened to the fishermen
It happened to the farmer's
What paradise for a car park
And job security for my family
And an honest day's work for pay
And human value self worth
And yet and though it is with our
blistered hand toil sweat and
tears it takes to build your tower's
It will be enough or shall it enable
us to afford us to live reside inside
your castles wall's
As for us we are merely entrusted
and expected to garner you with
security
Guard your carparks
Guard your gate's
Guard your monetary wealth
Good enough to raise your children
Place them firmly in our custody
Pick them up from Ivy Schools
When one is busy out shopping
taking lunch , partying or upwardly
socializing
And all of this for the measly price
of knowing one's place and one
mistake could cost you and your
family
It's one and only breadwinner
who put and set aside his pride
to hide it deep inside a box
That signals the future is the station
boarded up you just past
Cat three-tooth, cat stone-deaf, cat sidewinder walk,
Old Bealman stalked the croaking, the croaking,
with forepaws meek stroking
airs of a summer cool night.
Bealman, Bealman, Meow & Sealman,
Pacing, still racing, one two three man.
Bealman—frog fisher & free.
Delphinium, the roses, lupine interposes
a shadow of fortressed green leaf
disguises the notion my Bealman supposes—
to seize, dismember it through,
make self-concocted, dishering frog stew.
Bealman, Bealman, Meow & Sealman,
Pacing, still racing, one two three man.
Bealman—frog fisher & free.
Night hours accounting, morning’s surmounting,
a bird warning Bealman, his patience to thin.
Croaking still blending, a flower stalk was bending,
two legs, peaking out, sent Bealman straight in.
Bealman, Oh my Bealman, Meow & Sealman,
Pacing, still racing, one two three man.
Frog fisher & free.
I saw Bealman beaming; I saw Bealman beaming.
How cats manage beaming I’ll wonder again.
Since Bealman was twenty, any beaming is plenty.
I loved my old Bealman, my frog fisher friend.
Bealman, Bealman, my meow dear Sealman,
Frog fisher & free.
Y/our relationship with ecology and economics
incarnates polypathically,
multisystemically therapeutic,
like positive human relationships
and richly fertile sacred dreams
between DNA's biological unfolding and Vitamin D's
absorbing ways.
Our actively cooperating economic design,
political intent,
power assumptions,
love,
light of truth,
beauty,
multisystemic refueling therapy
for ego and ecohealing community,
Appositionally driven
shriveled by exhausting lose-lose practices
feeding shriven anger,
silos of fear and suffering,
haunted by monopolistic
monochromatic
mindless monocultural nightmares
of Black Hole entropic proportion,
socioeconomic pathology
wilting and suffocating purgation
monotheistic punishment
pantheistic imprisonment.
Black hole reverse-eco-normic competition
never ends with enough,
timelessly continues longing for infinity
of heaven at hand.
Ecological cooperation soon builds diversely inclusive sufficiency,
together,
healthy warm kinda wealthy,
but just right,
pricklygoo co-invested
muse amusing culture.
If we don't fly apart first,
we might learn to fly
and swim
and breathe together,
drinking from the same aerobic/autonomic fountain of knowledge,
in bull-bear fueled nutritional flows and ebbing markets
polyculturally optimized self-with-other resilient design.
EcoTherapy practices peaceful Earth development,
proactively nurturing
co-passionate bipartisan
notBully/notBear balanced
therapeutic EarthTribal nutrition.
it's the economy that has taken a major hit
where that paycheck you now receive ain't worth spit
between the bills, the kids, the Metro cards and trying to pay that high rent
your money is gone before you have a chance to see one red cent
it's the economy and what the politicians now are trying to do
is to strip the unions of their rights which will effect me and you
without collective bargaining the workers will lose their power and edge
and those in high positions of power are trying to push us off the ledge
it's the economy that has caused the loss of so many jobs
yet the big banks towards the little people they continue to rob
the government bailed them out when they would have closed their doors
yet they never dispersed any of the money that they had pleaded for
creative accounting, dirivatives, hedge funds and ponzi schemes
it's no wonder that the economy has fallen apart at the seams
President Obama is trying to do the best that he can
but those darn Republicans continue to tie up his hands
it's the economy and hopefully one day it will improve
but if it don't from this country i might have to move
