(Holiday: National Heroes' Day…
intended to be in Tagalog for this Buwan ng Wika)
Having soaked up
all her memories
whilst dancing
with the man she loved
So many nights remembered
as their souls soared up above
I complemented her red hair
rich emerald green my hue
designer elegance was I
so many compliments I drew
Throughout the years
much joy and laughter
but now I was feeling discarded
just hanging around in her wardrobe
in deepest
darkest
blackness
The only sounds I ever heard
were fluttering wings of moths
Arriving hungry every night
chomping and chewing
her clothes they did ruin
but from me ~ they did not take a bite
My fate not looking good
from conversations overheard
My swan song was for me to be
inside her coffin ~ just her and me
On entering the furnace
we would soar up to the sky
to the arms of her beloved
dancing to the end of love
Well this had been her plan
Until sweet girl Arabella
her precious granddaughter
now coming of age
One day asked my girl
could she please try me on
Now looking more positive
for my final swan song...
So surprised to be taken
back into the light
She gently unpacked me
to my utter delight
Arabella – her grandchild
was trying me on
in this emerald green dress
she shimmered
she shone
and me
~
this Emerald Green Dress
~
Well
~
I was out to impress…
Written 13th July 2019
after gifting my precious Emerald Green Dress to my granddaughter Arabella
now 18 years of age ~ and so the memories will go on…

HONORABLE MENTION
Beyond tomorrow and the future, we behold God’s love that greatly prevails*
With His compassionate omnipotence everyone hails
Subduing destructive hatred which sorely ails
For caring jubilation’s cheers against apathy-bitterness’ wails.
Beyond tomorrow and the future, God’s peace is seen reigning
Assuring us, His children, whose faith in Christ is leaning
Conquering our fearful hearts with serenity-gaining
Since doubts over us can never be winning.
Beyond tomorrow and the future, thanksgiving shouts are heard decreed
While we worship the Lord joyously, unmindful of time to exceed
Sin-slavery He’s vanquished to meet every soul’s need
Satisfaction-testimonies abound; neither about discontentment nor greed.
Beyond tomorrow and the future, triumph is tasted midst the Creator’s bounty
Dispelling hardships causing despair, anguish and anxiety
His help enables us to be diligent, fighting penury and poverty
Enriching us with labor’s fruits of productivity.
Beyond tomorrow and the future, the Saviour’s guidance keeps us settled
Leading us to His perfect will where we are safely handled
His wisdom directs us against being deceived and rattled
Thus, we overcome struggles tenaciously when embattled.
Beyond tomorrow and the future, we feel the Almighty's wondrous presence
Verily glorious, putting to shame our selfish goals of no value and sense
We then experience excellence along noble persistence
Against humiliation caused by worldliness’ vain insistence.
Beyond tomorrow and the future, we listen to our Master Who’s perfectly right
His voice is music to our ears as we show commitment-lights bright
Empowering us to be blessings with our good works’ might
As with servants’ hearts, we praise Him with gratitude’s delight.
*Isaiah 42:13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man… he shall prevail against his enemies.

Her name was Madame Butterfly;
true love embraced her one fine day.
By sea, he came, neath bright, blue sky,
on Navy ship from far away.
Love, at first sight, it was for them,
this naval officer and his
sweet Geisha from Japan, a gem;
together found a lover's bliss.
His tour was done, and now goodbye
would break her heart, but he'd return...
he said...then left his Butterfly.
She watched him leave, with sad concern.
His son was born, and three years passed;
each day she looked out to the shore.
No sign of him, and she soon asked...
is he now gone, forevermore?
But, then one day, her love arrived!
The ship was there moored in the bay.
He had returned, with joy she cried,
oh, happy day...she knelt to pray.
At once, she saw a woman there...
and holding hands with her dear man,
the father of her son...unfair...
he, with a wife, came to Japan.
Her heart now broken; how life turned...
her true love found then lost, and yet
returned to her...but she has learned
he's lost forever...such regret.
Her honor lost, her life is done.
She hugs her son and says goodbye.
Behind the screen, neath morning sun...
with dagger high...poor Butterfly.

Story from "Madame Butterfly" - an opera composed by Giacomo Puccini
With faith’s ears, perchance magnified celestially
I’m delighted with His divine whispers…
…echoing eternal love
wafting forever and ever assurance
defying madness and folly of Cupid’s magic darts.
Beyond the unforgettable romantic encounter
that flutters ephemeral affections
my genuine love affair with the Source of compassion
is sealed with eternal covenant
when I accepted His offered life-building relationship
freeing me from the dank prison cell of deathless sinfulness.
Heavenly appointed indeed was our spiritual meeting
never a rendezvous of mere happenstance
since that time, my born-again experience God commenced
as Author* of my everlasting triumph
stamped with His granted redemption, devoid of doubts’ daub.

To abide in God’s securing peace* is my utmost desire
Never impossible along my Saviour’s invitation-pleasure
He bids me to come freely by the faith He does require
Granting my soul sweet respite in His tranquility’s enclosure.
Blessed wondrously to be assured by His calmness-safety
Enabled am I to linger longer in communion partnership
Plunged in His love that subdues every trace of anxiety
My heart thanks the Lord for His gracious friendship.
*Psalm 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Funny, how we meet folks!!
.......
Dennis, I only met on the phone,
several times.....
I was working for a Cable Company
in the '80's.
Dennis was a customer who I sold
cable channels to and also sporting
events.
He was one of the nicest, most
humble people in sports I ever
was blessed to speak with.
No attitude, no "I am too
important to talk to you"attitude!
No answering machine.-)))
Those short moments with Dennis,
a truly accomplished person with 'real'
schedules, left their mark on me.
I won a trip to Spring Training from
ESPN as I was one of their Sport
Scouts. That trip to Afizona was the
trip of a lifetime. I got to see Dennis
play in Scottsdale.
Today, the most insignificant folks
cannot text, cannot email and worst
of all never answer their phones!
We have lost the art and loving
another in our own "Trivial Pursuits."
That's so very sad to me. I am glad
I met him prior to cell phones, texts
and emails. And the Internet!
I have a real sense of Dennis as a
Human Being, and will forever cherish
that voice, his kindness and warmth!
God Bless Dennis!

Santa, What I want for Christmas
Your elves can't make
You can't put in your bag
and doesn't cost a cent
Santa, What I want this Christmas
is a gift from the heart
emanating from your soul
to change you, and us, forever
Santa, I want you to go to Church
this Christmas Eve, and pray --
Pray for the Widow
for the Orphan
for the Stranger
Pray for the Homeless
for the Poor
for the Forgotten
Pray hard
Thanks, Santa

What You Want For Christmas Poetry Contest

With deep rich currant I will paint my lips,
or perhaps with purple raspberry gloss;
upon my lush scented lips his kiss drips,
and we will lay on the grass soft like moss.
O, how heavenly is cherry blossom,
or a dripping bouquet of verbena;
I just love it - because it is awesome,
and will dance- float like a ballerina.
In my small garden is airy sweet pea,
a mingle of scents sublime- romantic;
have you ever just sat under a tree,
and just dream, dreams - of a love gigantic.
With deep rich currant I will paint my lips;
or perhaps with purple raspberry gloss.

I Am Stuck in a Christmas Globe for all to see, I stand here patiently. Here I am looking at you, you just pass me by with out a glance. I can not move in my snowy world, yet you are warm and toasty all the time. Now and then you shake me up, then the snow falls heavily. I once again get covered with snow, all white and cold I just stand and wait.
