Dennis Eckersly Tribute
USA MLB PLAYER Cy Young Award winner. Oakland A's # 43 A's won AL Series 19&9 Baseball Hall of Famer Funny, how we meet folks!! ....... Dennis, I only met on the phone, several times..... I was working for a Cable Company in the '80's. Dennis was a customer who I sold cable channels to and also sporting events. He was one of the nicest, most humble people in sports I ever was blessed to speak with. No attitude, no "I am too important to talk to you"attitude! No answering machine.-))) Those short moments with Dennis, a truly accomplished person with 'real' schedules, left their mark on me. I won a trip to Spring Training from ESPN as I was one of their Sport Scouts. That trip to Afizona was the trip of a lifetime. I got to see Dennis play in Scottsdale. Today, the most insignificant folks cannot text, cannot email and worst of all never answer their phones! We have lost the art and loving another in our own "Trivial Pursuits." That's so very sad to me. I am glad I met him prior to cell phones, texts and emails. And the Internet! I have a real sense of Dennis as a Human Being, and will forever cherish that voice, his kindness and warmth! God Bless Dennis! November 24, 2019
