Premium MemberAngel's Voice

As the angel spoke of God’s Son,
Telling Mary what love has done,
Her heart must have pulsed with insight
As this child shines His gentle light.

An angel soothed Mary’s betrothed
Soon, their sweet baby would be swathed
In swaddling cloth, this silent night
As this child shines His gentle light

Angels reveal the birth of peace,
With joy that will always increase,
So love came to make all things right,
As this child shines His gentle light

This truth told by hearts who believe,
Shows us when Mary did conceive
This is love that brings the blind sight
As this child shines His gentle light.

As the angel’s voice sings of love
There is hope promised from above
Love came, our story to rewrite
As this child shines His gentle light

This time of year I'm fondly
reminded of Richard the
old guys playing chess on
lakeshore drive watching the
cities shoreline freeze over
popcorn stands chestnuts
warms the hands on state
street the Irish river at a
stand still as the
center prepares for the
giant douglas fir tree hawks
perch on ledges as the lions
roars on the steps at the
du sable museum cornerstone
outreach paints the faces of
children parents help out in
the soup kitchens homeless
are actually singing Christmas
Carols as Richard wearing
a plaid scarf approaches
Merry Christmas
Chicago and to all a good night

Premium MemberThis Special Time of Year

Please come inside; see right away
the Christmas cards that I display
in the hall around a mirror.
I love this special time of year.

Then in my living room you’ll see
trimmed red and gold – a handsome tree
where loved ones soon will gather near.
I love this special time of year.

A table holds a manger scene.
Some shepherds and the Wise Men lean
to worship the Lord’s son so dear.
I love this special time of year.

On another table view
some figurines – more than a few.
There’s Santas, elves and snowmen here!
I love this special time of year.

Come to my kitchen. Smell the treats -
salty Chex mix and lots of sweets.
Let’s make a toast to bring good cheer.
I love this special time of year.

Busy keeping watch over sheep.
Angel appears - they would not sleep.
The shepherds walked at a quick pace,
To look upon the Christ child’s face.

They found him lying on the straw.
Baby Jesus is who they saw.
God’s Son entered the human race.
They’d look upon the Christ child’s face.

Still pinching themselves at the sight,
remembering the angel-light.
Heaven’s hosts came from hiding place.
They’d look upon the Christ child’s face.

“Do not be afraid! There’s good news!”
The angels exclaimed to the Jews.
Embodiment of holy grace.
They’d look upon the Christ child’s face.

“Glory to God in the highest.”
Hard to say whose eye was driest
as shepherds trekked to his birthplace.
Tears fall upon the Christ child’s face.

“There’s peace on whom God’s favor rests.”
The highest calling manifests.
His mother holds Him in embrace.
They’d look upon the Christ child’s face.

Pouring sweet joy through yearning souls
Christmas hope invites silent nights
A stunning feeling which controls
Yuletide love written in the lights

Whispers of laughter fill the heart
Taking the spirit to new heights
Warming with smiles which will impart
Yuletide love written in the lights

Grace falls lightly on season's bliss
Quieting darkness with soft whites
Singing peace with a gentle kiss
Yuletide love written in the lights

Pouring sweet joy through yearning souls
Yuletide love written in the lights

I Must Praise My God

In life you go through everyday
Not knowing what may come your way
But I just can't stop
I must Praise my God

I must not give
Because with Jesus I can win
Yes there is times I feel so odd
I must Praise my God

I as travel down my Christian path
Trouble will not always last
Continuing to do my job
I must Praise my God

In this Christmas Season
Realizing Jesus is the reason
No need to cry and sob
I must Praise my God

As the new year is about to approach
Just know for sho
Most definitely my Job
I must Praise my God

Premium MemberHis Own Beloved Son

A baby was born Christmas day,
and so I go to church and pray,
the words flow like a sweet songbird.
Oh, praise God and his holy word !

I have often asked my God why,
on many a Christmas just cry,
but by God's wisdom I am stirred.
Oh, praise God and his holy word !

God gave us his own beloved son,
and he preached until it was done,
when some doubt I am undeterred.
Oh, praise God and his holy word !

At Christmas I am filled with joy,
and all traditions I enjoy,
but God's voice I have heard.
Oh, praise God and his holy word !

Will try my best to be of worth,
for all of my days left on earth,
and on death I will fly a bird.
Oh, praise God and his holy word.

Premium MemberDrawn By a Star

Led by that light o'er Bethlehem,
his glowing eyes looked up with them.
He walked so far, this shepherd boy-
drawn by a Star that promised joy.

He joined them at the manger there
to see the Babe, beheld so fair.
More followed in a long convoy-
drawn by a Star that promised joy.

The site of Jesus touched his soul.
In Heaven's light, angels extol
this Holy Night- God's gift, enjoy-
drawn by a Star that promised joy.

Christ's birth in Bethlehem that night
gave shepherd boy- new guiding light.
His heart to God he would deploy-
blessed by a Star that promised joy.

Born This Day

a northern star, a guiding light
weary travelers rest this night
swaddled baby laid upon hay
a holy king was born this day

the angels sang from up above
a triumph of heavenly love
the weary seek and come to pray
a holy king was born this day

the gifts they bare from near and far
as they followed this shining star
one darkened eve it lit their way
a holy king was born this day

this fair child light upon his skin
was born to save the world from sin
in a manger laid upon hay
a holy king was born this day

although so many years ago
this story we have come to know
it's not of santa and his sleigh
a holy king was born this day

Premium MemberAdvent Remembrance

Born in a barn manger of straw,
wise men looked at the babe in awe;
a star above glowed like the sun.
At Christmas, God gave us his son !

Born to fulfill a great mission,
now, Christmas is a tradition;
but his work will never be done,
At Christmas, God gave us his son !

During Christmas with love and joy,
recall the children with no toy;
those whose grief is never undone,
At Christmas, God gave us his son !

The wise men came far bearing gifts,
and we give to those we love gifts;
but recall the birth of the one,
At Christmas, God gave us his son !

The time approaches,Advent is nigh
That innocent child, sent from on high,
Will to our sinful earth descend
And for our sad sins meet his end

Premium MemberA Cold December Night So Long Ago

A Cold December Night so Long Ago

‘twas on a cold December night
so long ago, a star shown bright,
and in the heavens, anthems rang
“Praise to the Lord,” the angels sang.

There in a manger on the hay
a new born child so softly lay
 as shepherds watched and town bells clang;
“Praise to the Lord,” the angels sang.

A gift of God this gentle child
of humble birth so meek and mild
to save mankind, our sins defang;
“Praise to the Lord,” the angels sang.

In rev’rence now we laud this birth
when Son of Man was sent to earth
to free the world from dreadful pang;
“Praise to the Lord,” the angels sang.

Our souls washed clean, our conscience clear,
and so we celebrate each year
that winter night when anthems rang
“Praise to the Lord,” the angels sang.

In Joyful Voices

In joyful voices how we sing
Of all the cheer that Christmas brings,
We celebrate our saviours day
The son of God, who led the way.

Excitedly around the tree
Dance little children filled with glee,
We tell his story as they play
The son of God, who led the way.

We tell them how a king was born
And why we think on Christmas morn
Of Jesus Christ, to whom we pray
The son of God, who led the way.
