This Special Time of Year

Please come inside; see right away the Christmas cards that I display in the hall around a mirror. I love this special time of year. Then in my living room you’ll see trimmed red and gold – a handsome tree where loved ones soon will gather near. I love this special time of year. A table holds a manger scene. Some shepherds and the Wise Men lean to worship the Lord’s son so dear. I love this special time of year. On another table view some figurines – more than a few. There’s Santas, elves and snowmen here! I love this special time of year. Come to my kitchen. Smell the treats - salty Chex mix and lots of sweets. Let’s make a toast to bring good cheer. I love this special time of year. Nov. 30, 2022 for Writing Challenge - Write A Christmas Poem - Poetry Contest Sponsor: Constance La France

I would love to see your home at Christmas time! It sounds so festive. You remind me of my sister and how she loves to decorate every Christmas (though not this year because they are in the middle of remodeling... she's going through Christmas withdrawals!) Lovely Kyrielle writing, my friend!

This is a very beautiful poem in this beautiful style. The refrain "I love this special time of year" is especially beautiful.

Congratulations on your top win Andrea! How beautiful your home must be, cozy and full of Christmas cheer. It reminds me that there are certain decorations that make the season special- ones I always look forward to displaying - decorations carefully chosen through the years. Thank you for this lovely picture of your home and your family traditions

This was my home about five years ago. But too much is going on now. My husband is too weak to even help me get the decorations out of storage. Nobody comes to my house anyway, so I just put a tiny tree in the hallway haha. Oh, and my Xmas cards will still go up all around the mirror in the hall

Congratulations on your win, Andrea. Reminds me that out nativity scene has lost its Joseph (true). I wonder if he cleared off when he found out the baby wasn’t his (speculation). Terry

Oh Andrea, how do you do this, amazingly amazing poetess?! I love this beautiful, sweet poem! I've been chuckling over your Wrappers poem since I read it, at least five times (first to myself, then to three of my kids, and then my husband, they all LOVED it!!), and then I read this! You are on a roll!
