Ever notice when kiddies play
They pretend they're in a war
They learn from us what seems to be
Quite natural to our core
The future of our planet Earth
Is in the hands of every child
Let's try our best to guide them through
The perils with a smile
A positive take on life it seems
Helps reach that distant goal
We don't need tools of war no more
Just peace in every soul
Treasure our kids and nurture them
To change the times ahead
And make this place much better than
The years of fear and dread
It can surely be done if all of us
Just listen to our hearts
Let's forge a path with our kiddies' help
And make a brand new start!

[Written for my four year old great granddaughter
who has developed an interest in the moon. Only after
writing it did I discover already existing ’stuff’ called
‘A baboon on the moon’. Never mind... Who wants a
Booker prize anyway?] [In UK bum is bottom]
There’s a baboon on the moon
And he’s got a shiny bum
And if he wasn’t up there
Bed time would be glum
He isn’t on his own
He’s got his sisters and his mum
And when it’s getting dark
They turn their backs toward the sun
The the moon is made of rock
Yet it glows up in the sky
Which should be quite a shock
Have you never wondered why
When baboons stick their bottoms up
Toward the setting sun
The moon so brightly glows
Because the sun shines off their bum

In spite of the news, it's time for some giggles
Forget about threats of long-range missiles
Just chuckle and yee haw
Don't you worry, pshaw
Though the guys in charge are surely infantile kiddies

Gather around all you kiddies
Got a wonderful tale to tell
Bout people who are always happy
As if they're under a spell
As spells go this one seems magic
Seems like a kind of trance
Holding hands and singing out loud
Performing a magical dance
Some people might think it's evil
But I'm here to tell the truth
They're really dances of undying love
Coz this world sure needs a boost
Let's all think only about loving
The peoples of every land
No matter the language or way of life
Let's all of us just join hands
Don't listen to all the naysayers
Time for a change in thinking
It's not who's got the biggest toys
Reach out with loving arms linking
Some will say I'm just blowing smoke
It's too late to make such a change
My answer is if we all did nothing
Things would still wind up the same
So how many of you are with me
Raise up your hands and cheer
For a world where all nations coexist
And peace replaces our fears

Have you noticed
When kiddies play
They play with guns of war
They learn from us

In hands of every child
Let's teach each soul

The perils with a smile
A positive take
On life it seems

So treasure kids
And nurture them

Babes in arms they come
carried or toddling into a dark studio
of a magical California morning
little Shirley Temples in
scarlet hair ribbons and golden curls
crushed velvet frocks
black patent Mary Janes
chubby legs in white lace socks
sailor suited infants drool
and gurgle on satin bowties
ticking clocks and puzzled children
hold fast onto mothers' hands who
believe their little angels are extensions
of themselves and their ambitions
time and interviews drag on
irritated infants squirm and fuss
as regrets and disappointments
are hastily delivered and absorbed
pass back through the doors of lost hopes
that too many have entered
in this wonderland
known as Hollywood..
