Which ones are my favorites? Who can say?
It changes hour by hour, day by day
Bert and Ernie have a banter so fine
But Oscar is adorable in his garbage grime.
Count Dracula and Cookie Monster are both a fave.
I would have a difficult time choosing which one to save.
Miss Piggy is outrageous, such a handful for Kermit the Frog.
I love it that they are paired up, in their romantic fog.
Sesame Street was one of the best teachers around.
Their word play was spectacular, as was their color and sound.
They taught my children about vowels, and silent E.
Jim Henson was one of my favorite designers on TV.
Which one of the Muppets is the most like me?
I think Big Bird, that yellow walking talking feathered tree.
I can see walking the street and poking my beak everywhere.
And being cherished for my openness, to be totally fair.

Count Dracula was terrifying until the seventies
When Sesame Street and Jim Henson turned him into a puppet
Gave him an intense love for math
And made him cuddly and adorable
Now when I hear Count Dracula I no longer think of Boris Karloff
Or Vincent Price or Alfred Hitchcock or the Twilight Zone
I think of math, which is not my favorite subject,
But I am no longer terrified or afraid in any way.

Kermit the Frog went to get a loan for a van
And Jim Henson went along to give him a hand
But when filling out race
Kermit had both a trace
Of pistachio and cotton American

A humble tribute to a favorite movie
a tall story by director Jim Henson
who later created the Muppets
While most people struggle to create
and save their best works for last
this was not the case for this superstar
On the surface maybe a movie for kids
but no one is fooled by this masterpiece
young and old there are layers for all
Hansen's movie is pure genius
and touched me to my very core
in a haunting surreal way
It deals with innocence in the midst of
the balance of good and evil in the world
definitely a must see movie
This classic dates back to 1982
but its subtle spiritual aspects
stayed with me through life

Creation of Love
He took an old sock and did stuff it
With a comedic voice he did bluff it
And need I here mention
The guy was Jim Henson
And the sock was his very first Muppet

(Dedicated to Jim Henson who died May 16, 1990.)
While you lived, you brought life to puppets.
You were the one who created the Muppets.
It was sad when You died eighteen years ago.
Millions of people treasured the Muppet Show.
You created Kermit the frog, Miss Piggy and other characters too.
When people see those TV shows and movies, they think of you.
On the awful day that you died, people felt pretty rotten.
You are dead but your puppets will never be forgotten.
