Tattoo Deportation- Inked in Chains

The sound of wheels on tarmac
Keeps me focused
Keeps me grounded
Keeps me present

The sound of wheels on tarmac
Takes me farther and farther away
From everything I have ever known
Chained up like a worthless dog

The sound of wheels on tarmac
Reminds me that rebellion
Always comes at a price
You just have to decide if it’s worth the prize

The sound of wheels on tarmac
Tells me that my fight is far from over
The war not nearly won
Whether I’m protesting from my backyard or someone else’s overseas

The sound of wheels on tarmac
Fills my heart with pity
Pity for a society
Too at peace with being alive but not really living

The sound of wheels on tarmac
Makes my whole body tingle
My life sentence stinging and burning
As we near my new home

The sound of wheels on tarmac
Makes me hope
That the words scribbled on my torso
Inspire others to likewise pick up their pens
I am told it is mightier than the sword

The sound of wheels on tarmac
Places courage in my veins
A man who has lost his freedom
Has no more to lose than himself

The sound of wheels on murram
Tells me we've arrived

Premium MemberInked Quill

Written: February 17, 2025 for Contest by Joseph May

                        **********************

Stalking dark bloom at night
Quick, lithe out of sight
Prowling stealth, jump right
Hushed, no sound at all
Felt lost, loped through wall
Hared wild, can't be found
Strained, waiting rebound
Inked heart without sound

Charging in hushed hour
Blooms this dear flower
Deafening hush dour
Mistress of the Quill
Twists you to her will
Ink in hand looks still
Wings served the goal scrawl
Sounds whisper, thoughts call

Farewell to Poetry

I have inked my verses
All day for so long
Poured my soul in pages
But got nothing in return
For being a full time poet
Poverty has ruined my life
Crippled my very spirit
Humiliation and neglect
follows me everywhere
My wrinkles and weary eyes
Speak of misery and destitution
So I have decided
To forsake my pen
Destroy all my works
Delete from memory
That once I was a bard
My verses will die with me
As I perform their last rites
Since writing has got me nowhere.

We are as we were before,
But you inspire me more.

Any real poet knows you're with us or against us,
Together we're one.
The world will wonder what's wrong,
When our work here is done.

We honor the new,
We honor the old.
We do as we say.
We say as we're told.

We know the answer and it goes without saying,
Peace of mind in our work,
Moral compass not straying.

I have yet searched for your name but see you none the less,
I created this writing to honor your consistent quality,
I must admire,
I must Confess.

Premium MemberInked By Night

Undulating ocean waves heave and sigh;
ebbing tides tethered to a waning moon.
And shades of indigo and sapphire blue
morph into liquid ebony at night.

As silent as cream, Luna's golden orb
rises, glowing softly in the night sky.
And moonbeams dance upon foamy whitecaps
that break upon the shallows with a roar.

Under a plethora of shining stars,
placid waters mirror the universe.
And its surface dappled with twinkling lights,
the ocean gleams like onyx inked by night.

As Venus rises like a virgin star
Mars blushes, taking on a crimson hue.
And the ocean sparkles like a blue gem
as Dawn's first light pierces the dark of night.

Forever Inked

Dirty water
washes away
poetic indifference

Leaving the stain
of what will be
—on what forever might have been

Love inked presence, divine entwined
Vibrant, centred, joyful
Playing earth role, in as assigned
God’s living miracle

No selfish to do list
Ensconced in a bliss mist
Hands outstretched to assist

Poison Ivy Ruby Kiss

Poison ivy’s ruby kiss

Strip all the ink away
Do away with her kiss; ivy.
Ivy’s kiss still stings
clings to a heart that’s inked deep
deeply rooted ivy- spicy leaves…
leaves her mark on a trifling bum.
A bum brim full of hot air teases
kisses out of icy ivy, earns a rash.
A rush of Ivy’s ruby kisses stings
clings to his heart, inked deep
weep away her kiss, ivy, he tries!
denies he still cares: eyes stinging

Stringing her along- rather coyly
another oily tongue that love bombs Ivy
envy not it’s frolics in ivy seas.
See, Ivy wears her poison like an armour
Dour ego: Ivy seized its crown.
down in the dumps it stays
bays all day long, tongue wrung out
strung out, just deserts he gets
he regrets spitting at ivy seas.
See, Ivy wears her poison like an armour…
sour lour is a ruby kissed clown
Down in the dumps lives the clown.

Indelibly Inked

You can’t wash away loneliness,
it lurks and it spies
a stain on tomorrow
where destiny cries

You can’t keep what’s been stolen
or find what’s not there,
alone and deserted
—the soap of despair

Talk to Me Rosetted Body
David J Walker

The reminders
Of adventures

Worthy of immortal celebration
displayed in an inked
Hieroglyphs parade

on all locations of
the bodies canvas-like surface
aged and dated

in a once vibrant hue
as the new
faded with time

what was it you were saying
when you were saying mine

I remember the mother
Who tracked every lover
She had ever known
With their names in order
On her forearm

I remember the Carnie
With the carnage of his life
Covering every inch
Of his body
In the black prison ink recording
The everyday strife

I remember the soldier
Growing older
with the battles won and lost
At the cost
Of every member of a
Decimated squad he will
Never be able to forget

Talk to me Rosetted body
Of the reminders and adventures
Of a lifetime

Inked In Stanza

Happy birthday, Jo Arcilla,
The sorrow is without limit;
The expression inked in stanza
Simply soothes your soul and spirit.

Inked Soul

For you, I will stain my body
For you, I will let the needle
pierce my skin,
ink my flesh,
as your absence inks my soul.

I carry darkness there and
this new tattoo
will just be that bone-deep stain
making its outward appearance.

Sometimes you can see it in my
eyes
but I try so hard to hide
the grief
and anger.

So for today, a KNOT
to show remembrance
of how your HEART
is entwined with mine.

Ten and Six

Before I was ten and six
I, caged at home like a tooth pick

I Ink books for fun as a novice
Wanting to be the dream I have promised

Now, I am ten and six
After longing to have you fix

I have waited to feel you near
 Now celebrating my birthday year,

I want something fast in packs
Wish it could be a love gift card.

 I am ten and six
 Built to be called pay_son

 Crowned with a vision
Can't wait to have a picture.
