HIGHWAY ROBBERY
BRONCOS HAD A VICTORY
NO SAYS REFEREE
I live each night as if it's my last
Mostly because I wish it was
It's too late to make a different past
So I don't reminisce what I didnt have
I just take pride in what I did
Even though I didn't have it
And I don't care where this road ends
I'm the one who chose a different path
I've thrown so much change at the wishing well
That the water tastes a little coppery
I've had my heart broken, my purpose stolen
I went my way
And was a victim of highway robbery
The winner of the opposite of the lottery
But instead of letting it bother me
I respond with reverse psychology
And live this life as if it will not end
And it's shown no signs of stopping me
So until the day it does
I now promise to you solemnly
That until the dirt's on top of me
Instead of another suicide statistic
I intend to be an anomaly.
Salt City Syracuse, You dwell in Mid State,
You are used for testing new products,
Rebuild, rebuild where you are,
15th Ward East, Southside of town,
81 came it decimated you,
Know home you know more,
81, Upstate Med is now,
What is the emotion of families you dislodged,
Highway robbery some may say,
Hundreds of families—many of color,
Forced to relocate, nowhere to go.
Now it has run its course,
Time to come down, down,
15th Ward, would you be renewed,
Urban Renewal to the rescue,
Who will come now,
Viaduct, Community Grid, Orange Tunnel concept,
Which one will it be,
Do the City have the key,
Or at what fee,
Salt City Syracuse, open your eye for us to see,
Families displaced, give us back the key.
I went to the dentist today,
And the fee that I had to pay,
For one little tooth,
Was highly uncouth.
It's highway robbery, I say!
