Delightful muse, end for me
your dormancy in twenty-three.
Inside myself the churning gusts
of winter thoughts on paper must
be released, un-bosomed, loosed.
So, wake up beloved muse!
Continued sleeping's pure abuse
upon an old soul shut away
inspired by plenty more to say.
Fill my head with words alive
such that my poet heart derives
the pleasure of a well said thing
as metaphors and verses sing.
Come to me in dead of night
and open up my third eye’s sight.
This world’s in need of better moods
that forms poetic often soothe.

Autumn leaves, one by one they come tumbling down
Twisting and turning like ballerinas all around
Perfectly landing on the ground
Shades of gold, orange and red can be found
Like a patched quilt, the leaves lay abound
Stepping on them, enjoying the crisp crackling sound
Then the icy breeze would elevate the leaves up high
Sweeping them swiftly through the blue hue sky
Passing the birds flying by
As they embark on their journey, to a warmer country they would fly
Scavenging through the leaves, insects and ants gather food on a heap
For deep down in a hole they would creep
Preparing themselves for the long hibernating sleep
As winter rains above them will weep
Until we feel the fresh spring breeze
All the animals come out of hibernating with ease
Basking in the summer sun
Until the trees start shedding its leaves again, then surely autumn has begun!

Soft feathered-ticking mattress
(Old-fashioned country comfort)
Not found in our local furniture store
At least in my neighborhood anymore
Only rubbery foam-like bedding suits,
Feels like lounging on cardboard
When sound sleep is slow coming
So, yes, I am complaining about it.
Oh, how I miss the pure joy of downy
Fleece on my clean pajama-clad body
Sighing from my daily care
Burrowing into that cave,
Snuggling up, generating my own heat
On a stormy night in dead of winter;
But now, with plastic, no hibernating,
No fond pleasure come nightfall
Sleeping in Grandma's sweet bed
Musing about my childhood years cozy
There in that chilly bedroom with no stove
With lamp on, I could see my steamy breath
While my toes were toasty warm,
Sweet dreams nourishing my soul.

cooler sun
colder days
come indoors
where it’s warm
as a recluse
life’s just great
bundle up
and stay indoors
leave bad weather
in your backyard
where it belongs
that's why it's called
the great outdoors

A hibernating badger awoke
And said, "If this is Spring it's a joke,
"This is no fun,
"I can't see the sun."
And went back to sleep as he spoke.

I’ve been hibernating for this period
And in my slumber, I have simply seen shadows
The music is quieter
But the lights are brighter
The lines down my face reveal my secrets
I have been hiding
Listening to jazz and feeding my frenzy
In a black shirt and broken sandals
I have been hibernating
But I promise I’m still brutally breathing
