Hedge Your Bets Poems | Examples

Premium Member Rest In Peace

They laid me to rest,
I think it is me
I am confused
Is it me that I see?

Am I looking at myself?
How can that be?
If I can look at her
Why can't she see me?

She looks peaceful,
Laying there
Quiet and content
No more worries or cares.

I can hear beautiful music,
And smell the fragrance of flowers
The sun is shining brightly
There is no sign of a shower.

The church is old
With stain-glassed windows around
The pictures in the windows
Religious history abounds.

Gentleness and calm
Warmth and love.
Fill my Soul,
As I float around from above.

I have had an exciting life,
As I have lived for many years
Like us all
There have been heartache and tears.

That's all behind me now,
There is no time for regrets.
Eternity means forever.
You do not have to hedge your bets.

Dear you who reads this:
Be of good cheer now,
Know that love endows,
Within lies your bliss.

Keep your vision bold:
Bear your downs and ups,
Sip from your own cup,
Life moves hot and cold.

Bear with strain and pain:
Live with love and truth,
Action sculpts your proof,
Heart and soul feel gain.

Write your life script well:
Word your journey page,
Act each change you stage,
Work on touch that tells.

Brand true love you sip:
Look and truly see,
Know fond joy sets free,
Be your lovely trip.

Dare to glimpse beauty:
Seek to find pure fun,
Live through rain and sun,
Be all you can be.

Know that each day brings:
Grace and love and light,
Let your dream take flight,
Live authentic flings.

Know that life is brief:
Soon your days are done,
Make sure you have fun,
Death frees you from grief.

Live with no regrets:
Be your own sweet fest,
Know that love works best,
Dare to hedge your bets.

Your Lifeless Form

Do You Bore Yourself?

Do you rent the space
you’re standing in,
owning nothing in the end
but default?

Do you recycle words
until their utterance fails,
mistrusting your ability
to say what’s right?

Do you hedge your bets,
never going all in
for fear of losing the very thing
you haven’t got?

Do you count the days,
as tedium destroys spontaneity
and all energy drains
from your lifeless form?

Do You Bore Yourself?

There is a way
To live each day

Unknown, unseen
Deep thought within

There is a poise
That knows your voice

Be still somehow
Prize here and now

There is a touch
That fathoms much

Be thus true soul
In-sync one whole

There is a wit
That favours fit

Be true yet brave
To know what saves

Pain comes around
To plough your grounds

Be fertile yet
To hedge your bets

In simple play
Love well each day

Undying, die
To seize new sigh

Do You

Do you bore yourself?

Do you rent the space
You’re standing in
Owning nothing
But default?

Do you recycle words
Until their utterance fails
Mistrusting your ability
To judge what’s right?

Do you hedge your bets
Never going all in
For fear of losing the very thing
You haven’t got?

Do you count the days
As tedium destroys spontaneity
And all energy drains
From your lifeless form?

Do you bore yourself?

Wit in warm touch
Can say so much

Ooze of pure oomph
Now seeds new bloom

Fun in full cast
Fond fancy blasts

Look deeper yet
To hedge your bets

Joy in clear trace
Anchors fine face

If soul can speak
Glimpse that sure peak

Go deeper then
Beyond this when

Surge in the dark
Finesse that sparks

Moments of joy
Splash of warm ploy

To be profound,
Listen and heed;
On solid grounds,
See wants and needs.

There is a way,
A certain truth;
Each one must play,
For act greets proof.

Just live this day,
With heart and soul;
Easy the way,
Yet hard to hold.

Joy shows a face,
A happy state;
Walk with sure grace,
Breeze through life's gates.

Be simple yet,
Let wants be few;
Then hedge your bets,
Join noisy queue.

Live lovely light,
Let grace abide;
Now set your sights,
Love takes a side.

Listen to cheer,
Wear smiles that bless;
Purge silly fears,
Love more not less.

Dare just to be a bold true man,
Learn how to see beyond mere scan.

Act with bold tact with a kind heart,
Look beyond fact to embrace art.

Live well each day with jazz and fest,
Discern the way to love with zest.

To each a gift of love and joy,
Dare to uplift with cheery ploys.

Each journey sums an outcome brief,
Live your outcomes through joy and grief.

Breeze tints and shades in the fond light,
Love well your trade with passion bright.

Each man comes here with mission set,
Dare buzz or fear to hedge your bets.

Purge all worry and let faith bless,
Just live happy with more or less.

Too soon, too late your time runs out,
On that due date voice hazards shout!

Funeral Baked

In the wake

Funeral baked meats...

what shall we serve...

unspeakable swine...

The Irish priest...

The arrangement, the affair before the marriage...

Feast in their eyes...

The whole sordid account...

What shall we serve...

Though shall not...

Oh bequeath the tiresome forgotten...

What shall we serve...

The injustice...

Light the flame, seldom will I cry...

What shall we serve...

Ashtrays by candle light...

Hedge your bets...

What shall we serve...

The realism find shelter in your RIP

What shall we serve...

RIP is what you deserve!

The Riddle

Seconds pass, turn into years,
nothing rectified by tears,
best learn how to face your fears,
don't expect applause, or cheers.

Letting go of all regrets
stored away to hedge your bets,
tally up your karmic debt,
all you have is all you'll get.

Can't claim that you're too young to die,
heaven's deafened to your sighs,
nothing takes you by surprise,
some truths are hid amongst the lies.

They tell you now your day is done,
the sky alight with spreading sun,
don't count your winnings 'til you've won,
now that there's no place to run.

Solve the riddle of my verse,
break the cycle of this curse,
deathly silent is the hearse,
don't think that it can't get much worse.
