You don't frighten me, my darling.
I would know you anywhere,
Though you're in that witches costume
And that scary mask you wear.
For a moment I am flustered,
Such a creature to behold.
Then I hear that little giggle
Just as in the days of old.
I've been missing your appearance
For these many a Halloween,
Since I dressed you in October
As a little fairy queen.
When you grew little older
You left all of that behind.
You thought Halloween was nonsense,
There were other treats to find.
I've been sitting at my window
For the first ghosts to appear
Of the Halloweens of used to be,
Expecting none this year.
Then I hear the doorbell ringing
And I bolt from my big chair.
On the doorstep stands two tricksters,
Yelling at me "Trick or Dare".
All the joys of the past years
Are now back this Halloween
As I see you in your costume
With your little fairy queen.

There was a time when flocks of ghouls
Came to my welcoming door
For candy, cakes or popcorn balls;
But goblins come no more.
My bell won’t ring this Halloween.
I’ll hear no gleeful shout
From voices yelling trick or treat.
No witch or ghost about.
Six children used to live across
This self-same street from me.
They laughed that I could never guess
Whom each disguised could be.
Only adults are living now
Where children used to play
The neighborhood has changed, its seems;
Growing older every day..
My own grandchildren used to come
To get their favorite treat.
My heart beat faster when I heard
Their little scurrying feet.
I guess they have forgotten
This once loved time in the fall.
They take my great-grandchildren
Trick or treating at the mall.

though the dark cold castle i do roam.
Terrified to be alone. cobwebs hanging from the corners on the wall.
dirt, dust and rank smells in the hall.
the floor begins to creek my heart beats faster and faster.
i hear high pitched screaming in another room.
scared to take another step. i stand frozen in fright.
i see blood dripping down the hall.
i swart to scream. mom walks in the room and says
wake up girl its only a bad dream .
Dolt go to sleep on Halloweens
