Born Again

In my adolescent years sin ruled my soul.
I was a young boy under Satan’s control.
I was relieved,
when I believed.
He forgave my sins and made me

see the sun pop out

sky glows cloudy bright
edges of clouds melt away
elegant exit

teach those clouds lesson
Helios god of the sun
everlasting warmth

shine your brilliance
upon us that we might see
night has

souk cloaked in perfume—
   s m o k e sways through the hanging

from lips to God's ears

breathtaking meditation

the more things failed to happen,
but God hears my prayers.

surviving a tornado

windblown giant
turbulent tornado
blazing a sharp path

kicking away cars
rolling whole houses
pure devastation

hiding in culvert
my face in wet claylike mud
i recite prayer

autumn

rustling leaves, falling
fresh as the wind in the air
grace in each prayer

crimson, auburn, gold
colors so vibrant and bold
swirling soft, a song

pumpkins to harvest
apples, mums, quiet

Sun

gatherings worship
sultry, blazing deity
in tranquil prayer

Good God stop these
Devastating clouds; it's not
Rain; I see storm.
