a rattler flicking its
split tongue...gathering
chemical messengers~ Prairie Dog
without a prayer
vulture, periscope downward
navigates a granulate sea,
follows the wavering flow of tracks~
just over a grilling crest his meal
falls, pauses and pauses and pauses
he waits a bit longer on the sun, dinner
sun-baked and organic

After church a bunch of us decide to congregate
Some spoke different dialects, so we got to translate
There was also a new bride and groom to congratulate
Did I mention that the preacher was quick to reinstate?
A vampire flew through which we did not anticipate
Was that a real vampire? An avid debate.
A mummy danced through next with a wobbly gait.
Where did she come from? I asked my immensely surprised date.
No worries said my cousin, who was ready to masticate.
His sweets were piled in a tower of sugar granulate.
Wha….wha…wha….stuttered my shocked surprised Uncle Nate.
As a devil appeared who said, “Why can’t you articulate?”
