Better than the best by Adejola Joseph
Better than the best.
Lyrically incomposable
Infatuations of idealist
Permutations of scientist
Schools of thoughts of the psychologist
Variant opinions of mathematicians
Part of speech of grammarians
Miracles of the clergies
I am better than the best
Better than the best.

I
Believing ...
(Is not a complete thought, say grammarians, maybe from Gramercy)
KNOWING ...
is better
Listening ...
may be best
II
When did I know
That listening to both male and female
I'd BELIEVE in EQUALITY
eavesdrop on a Galaxy?

GRAMMATICAL CLARIFICTION
For grammarians,
When they say
It’s “it’s”, it’s “it’s”
And when they say
It’s “its”, it’s “its”
But non-grammarians
Often say it’s “it’s”
But it’s really “its”
And vice versa.

She's all alone,
having left her parent's home;
a free bird, a truant, a hobo she's,
who couldn't stand discipline anymore!
She loves aho to rock, rollick, gyrate
and ball to thy rhythm and rhyme O' poet!
But lo, so tender she's, the language bud.
Tend her with little, little sprinkles sweet
of nectarine muse till blossoms full
in to a flower with dripping deluges of honey.
Be a true poet...sensitive, sensible and sensuous...
make love with her to make her happy...
All this care and caution I have to say O' Poet,
since I know of those Professors
and grammarians,
who try to rape.

My poor poems, neither rhyme nor scan, a scandal be damn,
as grand grammarians grumble and crotchety critics cry tumbrels,
while trendy topic pickers poke fun at one so dumb, as so nice and precise
mistresses (or masters) of the art pull me prettily apart; I just go my way -
smile, sigh, ponder and pray that the Muses dear will inspire me without fear.

Hello, I am the colon grammatically
And not colon cancer medically.
If the poetry soup won’t allow me
It’s not the matter of great scree.
Can’t use me in title, then in the text that follows
My job is to inform reader what follows.
The grammarians use me in three ways
Syntactically, appositive, segmental always.
