Devour a Good Book

Once a bookworm from Timbuktu
Devoured every book he went through
He was quiet scary
Ate every book in the library
First editions, hardcovers and paperbacks too

The Runaway

Oh, lord
what’s the use in tryin’?
Nothin’s turned out
the way I planned.
I got the whole world
tellin’ me I’m dyin’.
Think I’ll just lie here with
the Good Book in my hands.

I’m on board
and bound for leavin’.
No farewells
from family or friends.
Guess in the long run
I just broke even
while I lie here with
the Good Book in my hands.

I won’t bother tryin’
to sell my soul
before I rest in peace.
I never found
an ounce of gold in anything
I claim to believe.
Reminded of my sins
when I feel that linen
soft against my skin.

Oh, lord
too late for cryin’.
Ran out of reasons
to save this man.
I see four walls
closin’ in around me
as I lie here with
the Good Book in my hands.

I won’t bother tryin’
to sell my soul
before I rest in peace.
I never found
an ounce of gold in anything
I claim to believe.
Reminded of my sins
when I feel that linen
soft against my skin.

I got the whole world
tellin’ me I’m dyin’.
Think I’ll just lie here with
the Good Book,
die here with the Good Book,
in my hands.

A Good Book

A Good Book

By: Brandon Rhew

I know this sounds nerdy but,
What makes a good book?
Well I’ll give you a hint
It isn’t how long it is or how many pictures are in it
Is it the author or the reader?
In my eyes its both
The author makes the book
With it’s own story and it’s own characters

Wether they are original ideas or just another cliche.
The reader takes these elements to shape an entire world,
In their own unique view that the author may not have thought of
What makes a good book is the value to encourage
The reader to reread that same book for all the minor details,
Whether they’re there or not.

What makes a good but is the reader,
The author and the inspiration that the author used.
Not the public opinion because they just tell you what you want to hear

I've often heard The Bible referred to as The Good Book,
yet the bible discusses every depraved perversion ever undertook.
Don't believe me? Have a look.
I'm not being judgmental here guys.
Believe me, this light bulb moment for me was a freaking surprise.

A Good Book

A good book takes you
far away to unknown lands.
Tears are shed. Death felt.

The fights are fearsome.
Futuristic tragedy
and past lives burst through.

Love stories flourish.
Characters become your friends.
History unfolds

Puzzle pieces shift
Clues hidden within the page
Space is tangible.

Take a Good Look In the Good Book

as i read through the pages of the book that we believe
i find the notion in this book that everyone has preconceived

i find it to be a lie and a blatant hypocrisy
what else can i call it? belligerent blasphemy?

the devils first lie is that we shall be as God's
Jesus was a man i find that kind of odd

if Jesus was God then the devil was telling the truth
genesis chapter 3 verse 5 is my proof

"the word became flesh" how silly can this be
i guess we are also to worship the pagan trinity?

please show me the word trinity anywhere in the good book
trust me it's not there i've already taken a good look

if Jesus is God and it is his path we are suppose to follow
how can i believe Jesus if the devils words aren't hollow????

Dying, the Good Book Said

You can stop praying now
And open your eyes
You’ve crossed over to the other side
So what do you think?
Is it anything like the good book said?
You know the 1 you were read
Just before you were tucked into bed !

Premium MemberIn His Good Book

I was touched by God today
While reading what he had to say
As I opened up His good book
I was invited inside to have a look
As I turned the page
My mind was engaged
To all the wonders inside
There was nothing to hide
On how to get along
On how we must all belong
On all the rights and the wrongs
On faith, and how to be strong
We fall along the way
We fall short every day
His words can make us strong
Showing us where we belong
If we ask for help each day
Our needs met without delay
If we would just take a look
We will find it in His good book.
