High above the ocean
Below being a sandy white beach
Easy to watch
One can sit all day and observe
The beach goers, Swimmers and Surfers
The ocean view stretchers for miles
One can reflect back in time
The simple and plan life
No riches in thought of Robin Leech
The Lonely house had fancies
A house with a roof and a place to sleep and eat
Just the fruits of one’s labor
Ocean to house
This lonely house had nothing before it was brought
It looked like shack filled with nothing
Once a dweller brought, it was given new life
Renovated having everything in what a house deserves
A place to be proud of and everlasting living
It took patience and of course the right contractor
Specifications were right and all the construction equipment needed
A lonely medium house because a much bigger house
Where one can admire and enjoy for life
Solid foundation
A dream through reality
No longer a lonely house
House friendly with no mouse
A house back then
Showing what solid as a rock can be
Calm breezes and relaxed souls
The aroma of sugar and spice
What could be so nice.

There are more than pennies in the sand.
I stumbled across a wedding band.
Me with a metal detector, walking along.
Other beach goers in throngs.
Dropping tiny things that they will forget.
But I found something that has caused regret.
Sticking this ring into my bag.
Who knew finding something valuable could be such a drag.
This beach ate up a wedding ring.
I should have known what such a search would bring.
For now, I’ll take a break to relax on the beach.
Holding onto this jewelry which was out of their reach.
I hope they are still together.
I hope when they were here, they enjoyed the weather.
There are more than pennies in the sand.
There is what is in my hand.
A piece of someone’s love left behind.
For someone like me to find.

One champagne bottle to another:
I hope you won’t think me crass
for asking if you’re feeling bloated
with gas as I am, and millions of others.
Keep in mind our distress it’s not
a quirk of nature but a method
developed over years by vintners
and improved over the centuries:
the goal to change a good still wine
into a great prize winning champagne
with a worldwide fame for those rare
and special occassions when only
the finest champagne deserves to be
served. For eager party-goers
the excitement begins when the cork
is popped (a sometime dangerous
piece of work, by-the-way, especially
if the bottle was purposely shaken
for a special effect and the cork
released like a projectile fired
from a cannon and it lodges in
someone’s eye socket, God forbid!)
though the relief from years of
pent up gas for millions of us
bottles is immediate and not
unlike that urgency many
humans share when fecal matter
is long held back and with force
and effort is released – if you’ll
pardon the crude analogy.

The soups and breads were fixed
know seemed to have interest
In that. One commented that the
Chickens used in the soup were as
big as geese, naming one kingKong.
Garlic and margine was used with
Garden herbs to create the croutons.
He would be a one man ed gang to
complete all the tasks still needed to
be done before the party goers arrived.
She like using terms for the chores
which were incomplete and offered to
do them herself, Fee-end she spoke of the
staff lacking to clean both softshelled crabs
and the softshelled crayfish. They should be
I ed of put in the frig she said.
Leaving the crew of one puzzled. A hall of fame
to the genius who invents a robot who isn't afraid
of my tongue lashing. Until the both you and I are
are at best the seasoning of which is to follow.
The need to be on time and prudent.

Th'pain of ice is th'lacquer o'stife
To th'begg'd bane, stilled, thawed
Caught'n satin fame, dragg'd towards
Th'Blood of a sadden'd kiss,
"To this"
"To what o'this"
Seen 'nstead of 'nfringed love
The blade, call'd catharsis a dove,
"To this"
"To what o'love"
Fraught, unthought shove
Fame fall'n still, dripp'd 'n drench'd f'love
Bade blade ripp'd the blanch'd flesh
O'th'pure goers' eternal rest
Lay hereafter, for'ver after,
Goeth detestable pest, upon th'
Holied site o'pelted tundra
Lay'n to rest lover o'blunder,
"To us"
"To th'last of us"
"I must"
"T'what you lust"
"To this"
"..."
The pain of ice is the cold of fear
To whatever may lay here
To whatever may stain the clear

she and he in polished shoes,
his tie she tied like a noose,
sunday's knight,
shining with borrowed grace.
the church bell rings,
like something forgotten it had to say—
they hear it as their anthem.
he's got the Book
tucked under his arm,
pages marked with
sins they swear aren't theirs.
mouth's whisper Solomon's psalms
that their hands have never followed,
but still, they kneel,
all theater and flourish, cheeks flushed.
he sneered at the beggar
on the church steps,
dropping a coin only when
he knew, that someone was watching.
inside, they clasp their hands,
not to pray,
but to shield themselves
from their own insidious reflections.
out they walk,
cleaner than confession,
a god in their own minds,
but the devil's grin
hides behind their lips.
and somewhere,
someone who does believe,
but loves,
sleeps on just fine.

Music starts my little church
And bids us goers "come forward" -
Timid and cleansing at first -
Bringing voices to one accord
Then her voice waxing loud
And the piano's tempo
Make the atmosphere bound
To become a crescendo
When our song meets Him above
And the sweet chorus repeats.
Did such music greet Asaph
At the foot of heaven's gates?

Loud guttural roar filled Steamboat Convention Hall
Stovetop hats rose up higher, and most were already tall.
The tiger made his entry with a loud snarl and a pounce.
Watch out! Someone yelled. I think this creature can bounce.
We ran out of the way, as fast as heavily-dressed convention goers can.
Tiger made a bounding leap and soon was shaking a trembling old man.
Don’t eat him! A girl in a pretty petticoat with a corset yelled out.
He gulped him down, after shaking him up, down and all about.
We did not see any blood, for the tiger ate every drop that he could.
I was running as fast as my legs would on this double treated oak wood.
The tiger was gaining on me, I could feel his breath on my neck.
I fell out of bed before I was eaten and I said “What the heck?”

AUGUST
The brakes of summer
Slowly get pumped
August is here
Tomatoes are plump
Schools ‘round the corner
Autumn near by
August is here
Season’s collide
Gardens grow fruitful
Leaves look luscious
Soon they’ll be painted
With natures brush’s
A paradise for picnics
Beach goers too
Air’s not so humid
Or sticky like glue
August is here
Relax and enjoy
Soon we’ll eat turkey
Then kid’s get their toys

I asked a slug
“tell me of beauty”
He passed me a slimy smile
And sped away.
Who would trust a Ferret
With the family jewels?
Do they make tiny Peloton wheels
My hamster is getting fat.
Why is the Mantis praying
And what is it praying for?
Do fat house cats envy the mouse’s freedom?
When a snail gets sick
Does he become a shell of his old self?
She has a certificate to document
Her pet rock is a “Comfort Stone”
Joey B gets little respect because he’s forgotten
where the bodies are buried.
Bats in the belfry

When I was thirteen we watched Friday night fright night
scared to death, to the edge of our seat, screaming in terror
it was the best night of the week, my cousins and I thought
someone usually spent the night at our house to be terrified by it
the scariest movie I ever saw was The Tingler
starring Vincent Price, an obsessed doctor
the tingler was a terrifying parasitic creature
developed out of spinal cords of frightened people
if they screamed, the tingler could be destroyed
a deaf mute who could not scream died from The Tingler
We screamed and screamed at the bathroom scene
until our mom told us to stop it, because it was annoying Dad.
I can hardly even imagine seeing it in a theater for the first time
because the tingler escaped and ran amok in a movie theater
I imagine the theater goers were screaming their heads off too
there is no one scarier than Vincent Price, tingler or no tingler
