This beautiful vocalist who gained huge popularity,
entered this world in Newark, New Jersey.
She was born in 1937 to an Italian-American family.
"Connie Francis" was a name suggested by Arthur Godfrey.

From there, her career went high and far.
Nobody could dispute her status as a star.
Connie not only recorded her songs in English,
she sang in Italian, Spanish, German, and Yiddish.
Songs like "Everyone's Somebody's Fool" topped the charts.
Connie won over millions of fans' hearts.

Suffering numerous personal tragedies through the years,
she displayed great resilience and overcame the tears.
The curtain came down on her life at eighty-seven.
Her spirit will perform forever in Rock and Roll Heaven.

Connie Francis
(1937-2025)

Deciding the Fate of a Fugitive

So, now, you all are positive
Ted Osprey is a fugitive,
That his last name is not Osprey:
A smart corruption of Godfrey
While his 'Ted' First should have been, Fred;
Some would rather he's called 'Red'...

And you're also quite positive
He was no clean operative,
Rather working for evil men
Soon staying in a house, next den...

Clear, Godfrey is now on the run:
For having turned on three his gun,
Because if he did not 'just gone!'
And would be mourned by nearly none.

The choice is yours to Fred murder
Or take this complex thing further:
And while I await your answer
In Fred's house incense and censer.

Premium MemberJulius La Rosa

Born in Brooklyn was Italian-American singer Julius La Rosa.
He was destined to be a popular vocalist in America.
In the late forties after a short stint in the US Navy,
he got the attention of radio and television star Arthur Godfrey.
Julius recorded two popular hit songs in 1953.
They were "Anywhere I Wander" and "Eh Cumpari".
In 1955, near the end of an October radio show,
Godfrey unexpectedly announced he was letting Julius go.
Despite this setback, La Rosa's popularity would grow.
In and out of show business, he would be frequently seen,
until he passed away at eighty-six in 2016.

Premium MemberThe Man In the Raincoat

Singer Marion Marlowe was from St. Louis, Missouri.
She had a hit record with haunting lyrics and melody.
"The Man in the Raincoat" was a 1955 success.
This song made Marion a popular songstress.
Along with the Mariners, and Hawaiian female vocalist Haleloke,
Marlowe was fired from the television show starring Arthur Godfrey.
Despite this setback, she had quite a cromulent career.
She proved that success comes to those who persevere.

Premium MemberJeeeeez

In years gone by, folks didn’t like to say
God’s name to show surprise or great dismay,
and so you would hear “Goodness,“ “Gol” and “Gee,“
and also euphemisms for J.C.

Jiminy Cricket! Doesn’t that sound nice?
Jeepers Creepers, Jason Crisp or Cheese and Rice?
Godfrey Daniel! Surely you know that
is slang for God and “God rot it” is “Drat!”

“Oh my gosh,” “My goodness,” or simply “Lord”
replaced expletives that today come poured
from mouths of kids who can’t be mannerly
to just say “Leapin‘ Lizards“ or “Golly Gee!”.

You’ll hear (for damning something with God’s name),
“Dag nabbit” and “Dad gum.” They might seem tame
but fit the bill and give us a small thrill!
But dang it, why would someone say “Sam Hill?”

Words from the Holy Bible we enjoy
employing when we say Holy Moley,
Holy cow, Judas Priest (but WAIT!)
For Pete’s Sake! How did Judas ever rate?

Great Scott, there’s even Jumpin’ Jehosophat!
How the HECK did they ever come up with that?
By Jove, I’m nearly finished. Now pretty please. . . .
Instead of using Christ’s name, just say Jeeeeez!

Godfrey G' G' Gore

Godfrey Gordon Gustavus Gore —?
Was a boy who wouldn’t shut a door!?
Winter came in that year of yore-?
Sleet blew in and covered the floor. ?
Summer came with its bugs galore—?
Flies and gnats, cicadas and more.
?At last his parents, irked full sore,?
Shipped him away to Baltimore.*

Thoughts of God, Free

I THINK,
(GODFREY THOUGHT)
… I’LL SHORTEN MY NAME!

GOD’S NAME IS I AM
MY NAME IS GODFREY

I AM GODFREY,
GOD IS I AM;
THEREFORE,
I AM GOD

I THINK, THEREFORE I AM
GOD THINKS, THEREFORE I AM
THEREFORE,
I AM GOD

I AM, IN LATIN,
IS “SUM”

GOD
IS THE SUM
OF ALL THINGS

GOD IS THE I AM
OF ALL THINGS

GOD IS THE I AM
OF ME
THEREFORE,
I AM GOD

SO, AS I SAID,
(SAID GODFREY),
I THINK
I’LL SHORTEN MY NAME –

TO FREY!!
