Giza Poems - Poems about Giza

PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT

They rise like ancient dreams
From the sands of Egypt
Gently kissing the sky
Whispering to the heavens.

How grand they are
The pyramids of Giza
With pride so high
They paint the sky.

What you see are stones stiched
With hands together so neat
Each edge lay in total agreement
To a will of a heart with ailment.

But Pharoah saw a dream
One the captures the

We are not going far, Mama they lied to me.
Only to Egypt, way across the sea.
I figured maybe Des Moines, certainly not Chicago.
Which was hundreds of miles, much too far for two puppies to go.

Will you be home for lunch? I asked them, thawing out some chow.
They professed to not know. Said good-bye in

Musings At Giza, Egypt

Musings at Giza, Egypt
by Michael R. Burch

In deepening pools of shadows lies
the Sphinx, and men still fear his eyes.
Though centuries have passed, he waits.
Egyptians gather at the gates.

Great pyramids, the looted tombs
—how still and desolate their wombs!—
await sarcophagi of kings.
From eons past, a hammer rings.

Was Cleopatra's litter borne
along these streets now bleak, forlorn?
Did Pharaohs clad

Oracle of Giza

A new day perhaps, of immeasurable tin, sound of din
A hurricane noise, a thrall of riotous cuts, although thin
The blood-curdle choke of rage from before
Now purchased like plasma from the needle store
Go hump yourself, If you want my schtick, you vampire whore
You’ve had enough since the Garden, Lillith, you’ll not get more

Now the ratio between

           inscrutable, mysterious
  perplexing, mystifying, awe-inspiring
   statue, ancient, pharaoh, limestone
       striking, stunning, bewildering
               mythical, enigmatic

oh, how the pyramid, does grow and grow.
how was i to know?
i signed that dotted line, in repose.
should have dotted i’s and crossed my legs.

my first hint arrived with labor pains.
i squatted jewels – diamond, ruby, emerald.
wore expert rings with the likes of dr. spock.
i devoured each sweet honey book.

but woe to me, i thought

The Great Pyramid of Giza

In the land titled the Gift of the Nile,
where pharaohs rode in gilded chariots,
149 feet she elegantly stands,
in the sandy plains of Giza

For decades long gone,
shes taken the crown;
"the tallest master piece of man's hand"
a Triton amongst Minnows yes indeed,
if thou not believe, the Falcons do
for centuries gone they scaled her sculpture
high enough to see the

The pyramids have made me ponder
Sprouting tall in sands of timeless plunder
They raise the palms, of either hand
Among the eighth, of wonderlands
I'll hold a constellation of small conclusions
While coming forth with wise solutions
The Sphinx, she taunts me, with ancient riddles
Of mere coincidence, or majestic plan
The likeness climbs the vulnerable mind
Comparisons of any kind
Rival all
