"Month by month, season by season, love will either come and go, or love will maybe somehow grow." - quote by author

In spring, love sauntered in. I still recall
your eyes like azure skies, enchanting me.
Along a country lane we strolled, hand in hand;
then kissed beneath a budding willow tree.

In summertime, we lay on a beach til night
had swallowed sun and showed us new delight -
bright diamonds shining down on just us two
as we shared dreams, giddy in the moonlight.

In autumn, days grew crisp, and even though
October’s leaves were such a brilliant hue,
your eyes had lost their luster. Nights less warm
foreshadowed that I’d soon be losing you.

In winter, I was standing all alone
as flurries from the frigid air touched my face.
Though pretty and pearlescent was the snow,
I was yearning only for your embrace.

Shadows 9-22-23

Shadows

Living in ethereal shadows of compassion,
In profiles of grace,
Mercy overshadows stumbling stones
Revealed in a lens of benevolent focus
To eclipse blisters of ebony shades
With wispy balms of healing from raining penumbras,
No longer shadow boxing with bruising lacerations.

Shadows of grace pursue cutting eclipses
And wraps golden coronas of clarity
Around impenetrable guilt, treachery and betrayal,
Forgiveness foreshadowed in rising cumulous mists
Chasing cringing palls back into impotent hollows
Creating translucent patterns of favor
In delicate dews of lotus clour.

Ever present living pierced hands of agape,
In crimson shadow’s continual canticles,
Engulfs dark demon wraiths with pure mystery
And with silhouettes of the eternal Eden
Reveals perpetual truth –
No shadow can with withstand
The incense of everlasting grace.

Premium MemberThe Cradle, the Cross, the Crown

When Mary was told she would birth a son,
The angel Gabriel’s message left her stunned.
A much-favored virgin indeed was she
For the savior of the world, he would be.

The wise men who came from a country far
Were led to his home by a lone bright star.
The gifts which they brought are worthy of note
It seems they had read what the prophets wrote.

The gold they gave meant the child was the king
before whom the angels in heaven sing.
To save us, he became man and was born,
The babe of Bethlehem on Christmas morn.

Frankincense acknowledged him as a priest
who humbled himself and became the least.
The myrrh which was used to embalm the dead
Foreshadowed his sacrifice in man’s stead.

From a humble birth to a cruel cross
It sure appeared that his life was a loss.
But coming forth after death laid him down
Christ triumphed and in heaven, wears a crown.

Death Foreshadowed

Flock
Of crows
Flapping wings
Darkened blue skies
Their loud raucous cries
Bring news of death
Deep sorrow
Be gone
Flee

THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE without grammatical symbols the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and respond thus making the form a two way interplay and often a unique interpretation by the enigma so derived

The crows caw at a distance,
A storm is going to rage,
A danger to existence,
The war that's going to wage;

The three witches have foretold,
Macbeth will soon become king,
Murder waits at his threshold,
Duncan must to his life cling;

With the king's blood on his mind,
And a dagger in his hand,
Macbeth sets out full inclined,
To kill Duncan as preplanned;

"Sleep no more", a voice cries out,
Foreboding his sleepless nights,
Macbeth's ambition, no doubt,
Has caused these murderous fights;

"A man not born of woman
Would kill Macbeth", they had said,
He thinks, "I'm superhuman",
And that's how he is misled;

Macbeth is now doomed to die,
The witches have foreshadowed,
His tragic ending is nigh,
Shakespeare has distinctly showed.

Inevitable Fate

Inclosed by a ferocious fortune for eternity
Naught with naught, can't do anything
Escaping means dying
Vicious prognosticated destiny
Inseparable with the prophecy
Trust is the only weapon
Against the foreshadowed storm
Body had been marked
Languidly lurks in the dark

Enticed with concealing the stark
Fallacy of the fate is desperately needed
Although the kismet has been stated
Take it and fight with it 'till the end
Enraging predetermined events will amend.

She's Coming

Not meant to be alone forever,
Someone special is reserved for me.
I have the eyes of a machine, x-ray,
Color is society’s impenetrable gateway.

I want a woman I can be real with,
She appreciates me like she gets.
I pray she will be patient with me,
Being verbally open is hard to be.

Ecstatic to have a family of my own,
A foreshadowed dream in my mind.
My wife will change me in ways unseen,
I will be changed from who I used to be.

No roads are the same, only similar,
We will meet face to face I pray.
We each have our own path in life,
I pray one day I will have a wife.

Premium MemberThree Ravens

Three ravens partook of my woodsy trek
Through African Violets and Dandelion flowers
Purples and yellows and freedom abound
Freshness of air cavorting for hours

The Oaks and the Pines foreshadowed my jaunt
The sun peaking through cascading prisms of light
Three ravens above escorted my journey
Billowing black feathers so quick to take flight

And I in my mind a sweet woodsy nymph
Barefoot and blessed in the forest of brown
Soul filled retreat far away from it all
Three ravens departed before the sunset down

Where the heart and soul compress
Is a secret garden of helpless bliss
Foreshadowed by any distorted pain
Unrelinquished freedom yet never vain
And I shall await your baited breath
Today tomorrow until my death
For you are I and I am you
An interwoven love no one a clue

Fallacious Identity

I’m left with internal bleeding
I didn’t quite comprehend
What it was that I truly needed
An unwavering loyalty
And deemed it necessary
To be appraised as royalty
But what did you presume this is
An escort service
Because you seem to be
Kind of nervous
Whenever I come around
You countenance turns
To an upside-down smile
What did I ever do
To make you succumb
To the assumption
That I was dumb
For not seeing the signs
Of your persistent misrepresentation
Meanwhile your intentions
Have been camouflaged
It appears my awareness
Was foreshadowed, but it doesn’t matter
Counterfeit? I’m left asking
Will I survive this
Because I decided to take a risk
Of being enamored with a con-man
I should have turned
The other way and ran
To a safer refuge
Your identity was
A major issue
I could not distinguish
What was ever authentic

The Lake of Fire
Written: by Tom Wright
2/8/2018

Many study prophecy and quickly speculate,
On whether the demise of man draws near;
As the godless flounder within a dire strait,
Each faces the rapture foreshadowed by fear.

On that day they’ll pray for the rocks to fall,
But quickly ascertain it’s become too late.
For in life they opted to neglect God’s call,
Now judged, the lake of fire is their fate.

This place of fire is where all wicked are cast,
Becoming eternally separated from God’s love;
Effectually remaining as one of Heaven’s outcast,
Facing unquenchable fire now judged worthy of.

For rejecting God the only one supreme being,
Their lot in hell has become their only bequeath.
From that place of torment exists no fleeing,
“And there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”*

an opportunity

foreshadowed
          in half-closed
                   eyes
an otherworldly

Transfixed by the thunderstorm of raining thorns
I taste the violet vapor that rises as smooth spirit
while my sensitive gaze garners generations of grief,
for those that follow the Savior must suffer like the Savior
and so they shall, feel the iron of violent institutions
their sacrifice will be spectacular
amid emperors and paupers alike,
on my seat of Delphic dreams
divine light washes my fertile face
blond tresses wave from under the hood
of my cobalt cloak, my lap draped in glowing gold,
I hold unborn history in my hand,
my cherubs exhaust themselves
on the years foreshadowed...

Langston Two

You sent a zygote zinger
A telegraphed sperm by C&P.
Brown, unborn manchild.
Spirit of secret thought
Quickly caught
By my fertile woman mind.

I saw him today, seventh period
He made boisterous cries
Had thick, virile thighs
And with your questioning eyes
He was reaching
Demanding to
Be.

I must name him after you
Langston
Two
Endear him with pretense
A literary sense
A dream name
From the “dream man”
For my dream child.
Bewildering blue bundle of foreshadowed fires
Given life by my secret desires.
