To Stand for Good

Respect from fear amounts to nothing
What killing ever gained us something
The conscience never came out bluffing
A horrid dream; a sickle cutting
To the violent comes destruction

First an offence then action taken
A human market
Flesh is traded
Sometimes it feels God forsaken
Where are the good guys
Will they make it

If you're a real one, people waited
To see your face; be liberated
You stand for good? Then be unshaken
You have the heart that God created

Premium MemberWORKING TOGETHER FOR GOOD

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 of the Bible's King James Version

“All things work together for good” indeed
Thus declares the Scriptures of divine creed
Illumining minds midst spiritual feed
For perspective, breeding cheerfulness’ seed.

Toward a better end along faith’s might
“All things work together for good” sheds light
Serving as wisdom’s inspiring insight
Toward blest jubilant heavenly flight.

Despite a seemingly wrong and flawed start
That can put despair to a hopeful heart
“All things work together for good” shields dart
Against staying futile, not doing best part.

Along God’s compassion, mercy and grace
Triumph is assured in running life’s race
Conquering guilt with His forgiveness-brace
“All things work together for good” always.

Appreciation For Good Friends

The circle of loyal friends is not large but small,
we should welcome them with open arms;
I've found a few that deserve my friendship:
they can be trusted, they won't judge or build a wall.
I've honored their desire for mutual fondness,
they don't make fun of others and engage in gossip!

*I wrote this poem on January 20, 2024, as part of a ’30 days of poetry’ January challenge. This was day 20 and the prompt was: Write your poem in the form of a recipe. This can be for something tangible, such as a cake, or it can be a more abstract concept such as love or happiness. List ingredients and directions for mixing and tips for cooking up your concept to perfection.

Premium MemberFor Good or Ill and what it's Worth

A stuffy nose at Christmas,
an annoying New Year's cough.
Are nothing but a harbinger
of laughing illness off.

Do not submit to sickness,
but joke at it instead.
If illness does not get your joke,
it just may see you dead!

So let the New Year see you healthy
and the old year bless your eyes.
To see yourself wealthy,
if not well and wise.

And if not wealthy right away,
wise and well will do today.

Premium MemberGood Advice for Good-For-Nothing Naysayers

To suffer the insults of fools is a worthless thing.
Dismiss, and disregard, unthinking, tactless fellows,
who've nothing else to do (like court jesters of a king)
than peevishly chide, rail, protest in foolish bellows!

'Tis better to give praise, tribute, and to confer fame.
Or, when laurels are scarce, offer instead your support:
sweet words incline the heart, indictments just inflame;
for good-for-nothings just blitz you as a first resort.

Always Be On the Lookout For Good But Still Able To Spot Bad

First and foremost

Always be on the lookout for the good

And seek to find the best in everyone

So long as that doesn't come at the expense

Of leaving you blind and unable to spot

The bad as well

Otherwise because they are able to

You will most definitely do for them

And at that point even you will be

Forced into realizing and admitting

Knowing the difference between

Good and bad

And you won't like that side

My Cheerleader Left For Good Today

I heard your encouragement so many times,
 worded ten million
different ways
that I forgot to listen for it anymore.
Your love never came lightly,
never with levity but rather cast echoes when it left the horizon.
Sometimes it hurt on purpose,
Just so you knew how severely you could affect.
 You forgot to listen too.
I have been brave enough to hold the gaze of a barrel
that had a recent, accurate and deadly history.
I scheduled having my first child completely alone.
I am not brave without you.
You have had more purpose than you ever realized.
I wish I could tell you all about it today.
You would tell me to hold my head high.
Wouldn't you?
Your tall tales were magical to me.
I was silly to always believe you.
You needed someone to resound what you wished to be true.
To make it all sound less tragic.
Bye momma

A Contemplation For Good Friday

The word of the day is: ' Excruciating'
an adjective associated with intense pain,
however its root meaning derives from the Latin 'excruciatus'
meaning – ‘From the cross.’

Congratulations! for before or when we die
we all will be - out of that cross.

Life is a crucifixion
for even the greatest joys come to suffering
just as suffering comes to joy.
Love saves.

Jesus’s journey to and from the cross
is both an allegory and a literal teaching.

What we believe becomes our truth.

Today let this Good Friday contemplation
become our own way Of The Cross
for life, be it short or long,
is sometimes a heavy burden and rocky road to climb,
and though the joy may happily outweigh
the tribulations
together they also are our ‘come from the cross’
story.

Jesus is us and his truth is in us.

If Good Friday were a sorrowful event
then it would be called ‘Bad Friday.’
Nothing is Bad today.

Good Riddance For Good Distance

Blasts of Dorcas for what she’d done
And for thinking that she had won:
For being the cause of what Ray did
And for treating him like a kid.

Off a scene, Magnus had thrice slid
To be of Dorcas’ presence rid
His flat rejection of her hid,
His firm plans now: to waste The Seed
And get lost like a child’s bead
The clumsiest of Quick Farewell bid
While leaving not halt at a mid

Magnus’ way he’d find without grid,
Happy to have dared this one deed
Purposing Dorcas good riddance
And keeping at a good distance.

Premium MemberLet Truth Be the Catalyst For Good

When lies are spread, destruction reigns.
Hearts break and love bears ugly stains.
Truth is obscured; grief lurks ahead.
Destruction reigns when lies are spread.

Truths may be told with harsh intent.
No good results, for none was meant!
Some wield cold truths with words so bold.
With harsh intent, truths may be told.

Half-truths arise, that heinous mix,
the cause of hurts time may not fix.
Confusion leads to Truth’s demise.
That heinous mix, half-truths arise.

Before we speak, let’s taste each word.
Truth’s pure intent cannot be blurred
by lies or spite if good we seek.
Let’s taste each word before we speak.

Admonition For Good Action

Relish this life and be happy,
Wish to lead this life finely,

Ways to be happy are many,
Always trust in God wisely

Delay never in doing duty,
Obey all the rules gladly

Fearing mustn't be done,
Being very bold is better

Punctuality is a fine step,
Duty must have fine quality

Calm approach is advisable
Form that by being sensible

Anger must be avoided,
Stronger are calm souls

Cheer must be fully had,
Appear to be damn bold

Discover the positive side,
Sever shrewdly pessimism

Do every task with perfection
New ways to do must be found

Kind moves must be made,
Find a remedy with wisdom

Favors time a bold man,
Wavers a fool uncertainly

Go ahead and win the deal
Show your talent in full flow

All the best for success
Call God during stress!
