transfixed
watching fish and fauna
sauntered eyes darting
to her bipedal crank
species nearly gone
The fish of stars
slutters across the glass
Crabs eyeballed sidelined
Horses of the sea
canter throbbing waves
Is that Shark hammered
as his weave meanders
bowing seaweed puckers
Flattened fish
Angelic swains
Dolphins with purpose
listen to krill trill with glee
all from from the deep come
to see the last human in the humanatarium
Please don't tap the glass
it seems to make them uneasy
Greensleeves, hawk came for release.
During acclimatisation, fearless kitten crept
up fence by hawkstand.
Both Beings eyeballed, briefly touched ---
surprise, fright, flee.
Next day, kitten hitches a ride in my car
and gets out at dairy!
Left home!!!

Written 5th July 2020
A moment, a glimpse
Was enough to make up your mind
It bears a gossip for your lips
My character harshly defined
With grime on my shoes
I pay less attention to my looks
Clothes within my reach is all I choose
Judged by the covers, like the books
On our very first meet
I smiled to you but lost your eye contact
You eyeballed me head to feet
Your hello had a tone of distrust
My accent, attracts dissent
You misjudge me if it is foreign
Always lost in the translations
Never rescued without a stereotype
Look into my eyes, and not my garment
Listen to my words and not my accent
Know me by the day and by the night
And you won’t judge me at first sight
I stepped into the hallway
with the gait of someone on automatic pilot
it was quitting time and the same old routine
led me to the exit door
unbeknownst to me
my cell phone was forgotten
my departure hastened by office gossip
and as the elevator swung open
a memory touched me on the shoulder
I turned to retrace my steps
they came from out of nowhere
with this acidic stare that scared me
and looked contagious
“Do you believe in God?” they demanded
I eyeballed them and tried to keep moving
“Did you hear me?” they said, do you believe in God?
Oh, and by the way you do look familiar”
I replied, “The existence of an all knowing
all powerful being is not a concern of mine”
they said, “I’m sorry to hear that, but I will pray for you;
you see God needs us to have faith in him”
I said, “God does not want you to have faith in him,
God wants you to have faith in me”
they looked at me bewildered
and before they could speak again
I left them with these final words,
“It’s a sure bet religion is what you get
when mortals speak on behalf of immortals”
they said, “I believe in God and I’m going to pray for you”
and with that, they disappeared into the walls
Patiently waiting in a line
eyeballed an wary
harsh barking of subterranean cultures
standing weary and inured
to the rotten
fug
the rotten
oxygen
inside the high walls and wire, the weighted stone of
the convicted
existing like convicts
