How big are we in the scheme of the universe?
Actually, less than one letter in a 1,000-page novel,
A concept about which I find hard to converse
Confining thoughts mostly to my private journal.
Frankly, the theme beleaguers our ideas of prayer,
And how can such a microscopic being relate to God
Questions whether S/He is, indeed, here or there!
Somewhere in space or here on the earth’s sod.
I believe that God resides in every person’s soul
Or, as we euphemistically say, …in our hearts,
When we grasp this concept, we become whole
Within ourselves, I believe, God-dialogue starts.
Prayer rises from within our thought-processes
Utterings from the innermost parts of our being,
Cries out, in traumatic times, from deep recesses
Releasing our supplications is incredibly freeing.
Does God hear these zillions of individual prayers,
And does God respond to each prayers’ needs?
Only, I believe, if S/he lives within the pray-ers,
With little regard for individual beliefs or creeds.

Where I once lived natural and free on and island boarded by an azure sea. I found myself now living in what is called euphemistically a 55 plus community.
Here the people from more northern locations share the same cultivations.
On my arrival I was greeted with an element of disdain and handed a three hundred page booklet embezzled with my name.
The booklet was the bible of the home owners association. Follow each rule and there should be no chance of an altercation.
I tried to blend in but as hard as I tried I could not put my old ways aside.
So here I be listening to mindless cacophony lost in thought of how life use to be.

What’s the kindest thing you can say,
about someone who’s not really nice
Compliment them in an obtuse fashion,
blunt talk wouldn’t be the right approach
Sometimes it’s hard to find
pleasant words
to describe somebody’s foul disposition
Oh, they just got up on the wrong side of the bed
Euphemistically speaking
that phrase was rather well said
Trying not to insult a person’s intellect,
can leave you groping for tasteful words
Sensitivity speaks with a thousand nuances,
each shade made for honesty to be received
He’s a couple cards short of a full deck
Euphemistically speaking,
your verbiage was rather circumspect
Turning vinegar piss into honey-flavored cider,
it takes master linguistic skill ...
even still, it may not always be effective
Some people won’t take criticism,
though given in the most respectful way
Euphemisms are politely stated aphorisms
The customer is always right
Euphemistically speaking,
it was expressed with rather delicate insight
Even when someone is wrong as two left shoes,
wrong as laughing lustily at bad news
Euphemistically speaking,
that’s what a mentally challenged person is prone to do

Summer simmers south as the spring in our steps hopes of an 'India Summer'
are drowned by the what we euphemistically call 'Inclement Weather', this
miserable time of the year until (hopefully) the long, glorious dying of the leaves
makes our patriotic melancholia turn to happy leafy walks wherever we are.
Real garden fires for the lucky, and from over the 'Pond' so welcome central
heating, and hot soup with family and friends; from the Northern Kingdom
a 'wee dram' or one from the Emerald Isle; Welsh! and English! ones exist.
There are floods in the lovely West Country and to the near attractive North,
but here at dusk the clouds scud eastwards over the North Sea as a fleet forming
in battle formation - 'Avast'/'Stop'- a sky signal in the west of light grey, amber;
a pennant of red showing tomorrow will be a sunny drying day, 'Hip Hip Hooray'!
