Joaquin Ovolla y Bastida
born&raised in Espana
Painted oh so very fast
in a genre reminiscent of the past
Old ecclesiastic sight charms.
Seen past time decay did great harms.
Restoration eased then priests' qualms.
Beautified now.
Pious churchmen seen chant sweet psalms.
They pass, we bow.
Espana
Land of my forefathers
Land of the great armada
Land of history that many know not
My forefathers came across the seas in search of new hopes
leaving behind the terrorism, war, and lost hopes
From wealth to poverty my family came
From honor to shame to our once honored name
Life in America came as a surprise
Like a gift just given
Unknowing of what was to come
Difficulties,despair,work,love,and care
Were only a few to which my family knew
Years went by
How how did time fly
Like a bird soaring through the sky
Oh how times have changed
Technology changed and came dependant
cars,laptops,cells,and planes
Something my forefathers never seen
Equal rights and opportunities
Gave women like me the chance to dream
Of a better future filled with dreams that become reality
I’m proud to say I come from…
