Escaping the Fate of Fish
David J Walker

Why leave the vast confines of
The abundant sea except to
Escape the fate of smaller fish

There is something in the oxygen for
Those who dare to shed their gills
And breathe the air
meant for the bold

And learn to walk upright
Making the tools to
Take flight

Where will our escape take
Us in the future?

How will we breathe when
we get there?

The Fate Phantom

The red sedan sped past
As two police cars followed fast
My jaws dropped in awe
As my eyes witnessed the chase

The three cars swayed from side to side
As drivers tried not to slide
And as the road burst with dust
they disappeared to the last

It did'nt surprise me
Though it was such of a scary kind
and so did i continue with my journey
as thoughts imprisoned my mind

If fate does draw a path
How many will escape?
whom will be willing to bribe?
and which is the shortcut to evasion?

A few miles and i was on the scene
The red sedan down on its keel
So different from one had see
Crushed and ripped apart

Of course he didn't escape the fate
It caught him on the throat
with a piece of windscreen glass
His neck halfway cut

The four shocked police officers
sat on their car's bonnet
wiping blood from their heads
They had escaped the tragedy
Yet their fate was waiting

There’s a place that I’ve found
As far as I can see
This place lies within
The depths of my dreams
In a garden surrounded
By fire and trees
Through the smoke a silhouette I can barely see
There’s a man with an axe
Standing in the rain

Never fall asleep
You won’t wake up
Destroy the guillotine
Before he does

Honestly that never happened
Lying is your favorite passion.
Leave me; go where you belong
Dying is your latest fashion.

So lock and load mercenaries
I see the smoke from the hilltop
they march one by one
the battle starts adversaries
they bathe in our blood
the worst is yet to come
we’ve reached the covenate
to kill what we have started
kill the machines we’ve spawned to fight
in the darkest hour

So just don’t trust these liars at the door
(you have to find a better way)
Kill the ones that have these answers for
(the questions I will never say)

Excerpt

Time is but a shadow twisting in the sun;
 Forlorn and forgotten.
Cold and dry are her lips so that
no breath could pass through without shattering the shell.
Oh where has it gone and to whom?
What man so greedy, so rich, so..unfortunate could buy such a treasure.
Or more, steal it from those now sad forgetting eyes that were once,
not long ago, aglow with laughter. What is its worth?
For shame! What a man!
A man who steals breath under the cloak of darkness and prolongs his own life with it.
Is this a man?
Nay, some devil. Oh how sadness can drive one so mad as he.
Then can you see that the things that were so forgotten
are now remembered. Y
ou cannot escape the fate oh devil, which has befallen every man
whose soul you have driven out with a pike. Every man whose wives you have stripped of a
spouse,
each child a father, and each being a companion.
If you demon have a soul, remember: every breath expires and every soul escapes its capsule.
Time is but a shadow devil, twisting in the sun. It fades into the darkness alone and forgotten.
As one day, you too will be.

Bring Me the Horizon

I'm ready to go.
Escape the fate I've brought upon myself.
Bring me the horizon;
Temptation bleeds my conscience.

Push the pedal.
Memories scream.
Leave it all behind.
I'm gone.

Bring me the horizon.
Let the engine roar.
I'll be there in the morning.
That place I need to be.
Away.

Sunset falls on dusty patience.
Indifferent to my perseverance.
My weakened tolerance.

Bring me the horizon;
Let these shadows be left behind.
