Enjoining Poems

The Shepherd

The staff of my Father enjoining the past
futurity’s herding a bleating morass
The bloodline of orphans forever is linked
tattooing the flock with invisible ink
The first time the last time when nearing the end
tomorrow’s ungifted excuses portend
And times better nature is better untimed
 beginning and ending forever conjoined
Eternity’s fenceposts hem in with disdain
all future inclemency fire and rain
But just as that last final sheep stays unsold
— my Father returns to re-shepherd the fold

Something is Missing

Something is missing…
Looks about
Wonders and thinks
Doesn’t think out loud

Start from the beginning
Back it up, slow it down
Think for a minute
What is wrong

What didn’t I learn
or what didn’t I see
What is it
that will complete me

Time slows down
As the path becomes clear
I stop and look
An idea appears

The labyrinth of life
The wonder
The learning
The possibilities

The journey ahead
Each day anew
Which way to happiness
Do I choose

It’s just the beginning
Learning and listening
Feeling time more
Having strength and a smile too

Enjoining life, the simple things
Wondering where my path will lead
Choosing wisely Or learning well
Not to repeat mistakes, like going to jail

Make your life best you can
Learn and live
And make a happy plan

Let's Not Incur Fatal Fees

Strive to drive out sleaze and sorrow from our race
Prospect and elect to inject laughter and love beneath and beyond the surface
Where we fly and cry to promote and devote principles in the ace

Life hands us
Enjoining us to kick out fuss
From our thought, plan, action and bus

Not only from our brain, heart but also from our cuticle
Promoting principle beyond a mere trickle
Although the spice of vice our fancy may tickle

But the culture and nature of our future
Matters more than the rapture
The pulse of impulse and its reverse aim to capture

In the intended handsome dividends
Lying yonder bends, blends and amends where friends
Strengthen our wobbling knees as we embrace trends

That focus energy and synergy on the ultimate prize
We reap in the wake of deleting and quitting sleaze
To rise in the grace and glory God grants without meting out any fatal fees.

Beware of Trouble Incensed

Trouble left alone hurts no soul
Endowed with enough wisdom
To score no own goal
When trouble turns vicious in the kingdom

Where trouble finger on the trigger of his machinegun
Slays intruders by the dozen
If wisdom devices from them run
Towards the avenger denizen

Who enjoys a repose by the busy bus
He drives at leisure
Eliciting from no intruder a fuss
That halts the flow of the pleasure

Trouble sips like a well-chilled red wine glass
To his heart’s content
Until a misguided lass of little class
Brews for trouble vats of discontent

Catalyzing him to erupt like the angriest Hawaian volcano
Spewing noxious Sulphur gases
In an inferno
That incinerates flower and tinder dry vases

To teach a salutary lesson
To learners willing enough to take heed
Of timely advice from the wise person
Who readily plants and germinates the wisdom seed

Whose fruit
Nourishes
The recruit
Who dishes

Out love to meddlers
Enjoining them to treat trouble with the respect he deserves
From finicky fiddlers
Who trespass on trouble’s preserves and reserves.

Redemptive Love

Redemptive love nourishes
Redemptive love heals
Redemptive love embellishes
Redemptive love empathy and sympathy feels

Under provocation, redemptive love forgives
Preferring to shield from harm
Redemptive love sublime peace gives
Redemptive love showers calm

When raging storms all around wreak untold havoc
Scattering to the wind established comfort zones
A boat of peace, Redemptive love doesn’t rock
Singing tunes and melodies in soothing tones

In homes, on buses, on planes, in ships
When hearts on fire cry out
For succor as distress tears apart friendships
Assailed at short notice by clouds of doubt

Which redemptive love puts to rest
Enjoining hearts to dig from deep within
From reserves that when activated cure the unrest
To leave a romance war front clean and free of pesky din.

A Drop of Mercy

A drop of mercy if I had
From upon the heavens high,
Would have made me a little glad
As torturous life went by,
Then I would know some mate of mine
With his tender heart incline
Comprehends where my heartaches lie,
Deeply caring when I'm sad.

If fate had bestowed such a boon
My life wouldn't painful be,
These empty days would've passed by soon
Paused not with an anguished plea,
Could God not his lenity send,
Making fateful pathways bend?
For once to his creation swoon
Perhaps for the sake of me.

I keep having this wishful dream
An elixir for my days,
Which flows past like some gurgling stream
Meandering on its ways,
I know not if it meets the rill
Enjoining the waters still,
Or it turns around in mid-stream
Climbing homeward where it stays.

Premium MemberSaved By the Bell

I was enjoining my afternoon siesta
Just wearing my knickers no vest’a

When the noise of the fire bell arose
Oh heck I was wearing few clothes

My hubby said ‘Jan that’s the bell’
I said ‘On no!’ With a yell

I jumped out of bed with a leap
Found all my clothes in a heap

I struggled to find my white vest
(It covers my large hairy chest)

Phew! The sound of the bell it did stop
So back into bed I did hop

Relay
        by Odin Roark

Quietly restless vibrates their lives
Refusing to become another’s exhaustion

With feet that still move
Arms that forever embrace
Smiles that only invite
Thinking that feeds dreams
Their midnight oil remains burning

So go the resilient few
Bodily disintegration ignored
Their stamina relentless
Minds and hearts held fervent
Even as so few relate
Most collapsing beneath dimming flame

When the finish line appears
Champions of tenacity find the baton levitating
Shadowy runners refusing evanescence
Enjoining instead others unyielding

Still…

All must cross pragmatic finish lines
Exit stadium’s forgetful tunnels
Accept this life’s form of play

For some

Around unknown corners few wish to chance
Breathing continues restless
As transition invites pause
For new breath to be caught

Premium MemberPlease No Empty Room

Let not my heart become in my old age
"An empty room, cobwebbed, and comfortless"
But an open sunny porch, a welcome sage
A loving heart to those in distress

Let not my pain sabotage my soft heart
Let me remain a gentle, kind spirit
Writing a course of good 'pon my sea chart
Let love from heart's depths to God submit

Enjoining to You oh Holy Spirit
Flow through me like a circuit open ended
This vessel delights in your benefits
Let the love seed grow with fastest speed

Let my heart not be controlled by body's pain
Fill my heart with Thy love 'til it can't contain

"An empty room, cobwebbed, and comfortless"

It was in more than one of her works..

Those Deceitful Eyes

Ecstasy
As I look into your eyes
I can see within them a prize
And all my happiness begins to reprise

Their perfect shape deceives all guys
Shaken by their beautiful size
And your eyes glare like the sunrise
Bringing light into the morning skies

But I know something you despise
Your eyes are a disguise
So beautiful in their guise
So frightful when your eye cries
But I know when your eye lies
I can see behind their disguise

Passed your perfect eyes
Lies an endless evil on the rise
Hypocrisy and betrayal sensationalize
Passed the retina, your loathing lies maximize
Passed the sphere, revenge is an unpleasant surprise
As you continue to devise
A new way to hurt me
And forever bury me
As I cry, lie, die in this mystery

Everyone knows, your eyes have a history of deception
Yes, I was amongst those cast by their spell
Enjoining the truth of your heart in my wise perception
Still. The eyes will remain forever in my mind, where they will continuously dwell

And wallow me into the depths of hell

Celebration

Jubilantly, excitedly, unabashedly celebrating,
Spiritedly, animatedly, enjoyably consorting,
Awakening to the heat of our African Sun,
Cavorting so splendidly in our gathering so grand,
We applaud our efforts by enjoining our hands,
Declaring our presence that enhances our land,
Honing our talents in this spirit of adventure,
Coming together and appreciating our diverse culture,
Awakening to this creed we have entwined in each heart,
i implore your frivolity and absolute mirth,
Hear ye the sounds of the heartbeat of our land,
See the sublime in our breathtaking sight,
Succumb to the richness of our deep Earthy delights,
Soak in the laughter of our dizzying heights,
Discover their freedom sensuous surrender,
Seek the free fall and let yourself wander....

Westbound

A picture’s worth a thousand words
Screaming to be spoken
Flowers and chocolate say hello
My aching heart is broken

Painted word pictures
Of flowers framed in chocolate
Read on a train by men down on their luck
Clatter of rail ends enjoining on ties
Providing a background of rhythm for lies
Hearing a melody humming along
Painted word pictures becoming a song
Memories of good times and battered old trucks
Bottles in bags and an old deck of cards
Sardines and crackers and light from the yards
They joke with each other to know they’re not dead
Five men all riding a roll away bed
