A Drop of Mercy

A drop of mercy if I had From upon the heavens high, Would have made me a little glad As torturous life went by, Then I would know some mate of mine With his tender heart incline Comprehends where my heartaches lie, Deeply caring when I'm sad. If fate had bestowed such a boon My life wouldn't painful be, These empty days would've passed by soon Paused not with an anguished plea, Could God not his lenity send, Making fateful pathways bend? For once to his creation swoon Perhaps for the sake of me. I keep having this wishful dream An elixir for my days, Which flows past like some gurgling stream Meandering on its ways, I know not if it meets the rill Enjoining the waters still, Or it turns around in mid-stream Climbing homeward where it stays. ***********
