Unshaped by parental care,
He rose, a phoenix, beyond compare.
Life's struggles molded him with might,
Resolute, he faced each endless night.
Education's flame burned bright and true,
His passion, a beacon, shining through.
Menial jobs couldn't dim his stride,
Determination drove him, side by side.
Sugar Boy, a graduate, proud, with degree in hand,
His struggles faded, like shifting sand.
Employment beckoned, a new dawn broke,
His future bright, no longer bespoke.
Love arrived, "My Dear" from Adeboye's line,
A skilled gem, naturally divine.
Together they stood, a unified force,
"The Sugar" boy, with a loving course.
With harmony, their bond took flight,
Blessed with children, shining light.
"My Dear" explored the world's vast stage,
The UK, and beyond, their footsteps engage.
Now the world lies at their feet,
A testament to love's sweet treat.
Their journey, a tale of trials and might,
A shining story, in morning light.

Dead Calm
Without friction
there is no motion
Without motion
— creation stops
(Dreamsleep: May, 2024)
Abeyance
My pen is searching
for its guitar case
a place to sleep
when the writing’s done
To rest in the dark
between flowing moments
of what might be coming
— and old verses sung
(Dreamsleep: May, 2024)
Nowhere To Hide
The haunting of our memories
never to escape
No continent wide nor ocean deep
— will shield us from their rape
(Dreamsleep: May, 2024)
Falling Into Silence
For years
I’ve had an old man’s body
Today
an old man’s mind
The past
a memory ever haunting
Tomorrow looming
— in decline
(Listening To Paul Simon: May, 2024)
Shadow Dancing
Making everyday life poetic
doggedness abounds
Separating wheat from chaff
— harder than it sounds

Again New Orleans
Waking up from a dream
inside another dream
inside another dream
inside another …

And, never cede shall be the battle cry
as London braces ‘neath a screaming tide.
Though flames from hell kept falling from the sky,
tenacity was not to be denied.
Relentless fire, with no relief in sight,
would taunt the British doggedness to flinch,
and as it roared your hearts endured the plight
for England pride surrenders nay an inch.
But steel, like rain, continued to descend
to test the will of English fortitude.
Incessant storms, persisting without end,
let skies unleash this devil’s turpitude.
His words of strength were rendered to inspire
though days grew dark and nights were lit a fire.

Where are those lines buried and downtrodden?
Where are those poems concealed in old books?
Where are those unconcluded stories?
You worry that they don’t look good enough,
You worry about how to make them soar.
Life is a recalcitrant obstacle,
It doesn’t show us what's behind every dawn's door,
It doesn’t sculpt what we wish,
It's a vast field of opportunities,
It’s our responsibility to till and nurture our dreams.
Daydreams are seeds thrown into the ground,
They are papers made into a kite,
They are innate eyes given to us,
They are our latent strengths,
Our will, doggedness and tenacity are its driving force.

Preparing The Lips for repeated groans
And The Heart for as many moans,
Left long in it one’s contacting phone:
“To whom it concerns I’m pitiably alone!”
Suffering never was a stepping stone
To our Remote-Controlled Throne,
For all its merits steadily overblown
And at Non-sufferers readily thrown …
Some bit Suffering releases in The Grown
With the doggedness he’d sown:
The often insupportable lighter,
The Rather Darker, Much Brighter
Tasked legs that no longer totter
A furnace now cooler that was hotter.
Still, The Never Ceasing Suffering
Keeps Singular Pain Offering
And as a spring board
The Regionally Broad.
Faster advancing The Dish-Washing American
Than A Nigerian Mover of filled Jerry can.

SUNDAY BEST or A Soldier’s Coup of Grace
Was always smartest one in his brigade
A pride in his appearance was consistent
Though beach at Dunkirk was no church parade
Standards upheld with doggedness persistent
In desert waste - Tobruk and Alamein
Those baggy shorts and boots held little chic
Where swelter sweat and dust became his bane
Endured fear, blood and missiles’ deafening shriek
Then tide of war reversed, Allies stirred might
Breached Norman coast, and footslogged across France
Reached German border, victory in sight
When single bullet halted his advance
And then at last he'd time to spruce and rest
At peace, and laid out in his Sunday best

IMPRESS ME SON
Brevity is the span of life, it is so short ;
But linear is victory without any short-cut.
The world you see now is a battle field ;
Doggedness is the only mean to the yield.
A hand that sowingly itself deceives;
Cries in vain upon what it later receives.
Be not a leaner but self reliant;
Hunt not fly nor ant but kill the giant.
Remember,the whole world is yours;
Limitation is in nowhere but in us.
Impress me son now that I may smile;
That I may be proud of you in Niger or Nile.
Behold, you are the last leg of my race;
Fail not son, in your hand is the ace.

To whom does he smile at
With a tip-top approbation of doggedness
Neglecting the pleasure of the period?
To whom does he cheer
With a reverberating extant sound?
Nobody but he who buckles down

This sickness that twined around my soul
Till I became blind and couldn’t see,
Carved upon me a vacant hole
From which ambition was set free
It had been worth living,
When they perceived me as mature
What have I been thriving?
What on earth was demure?
They tell me I have been happy
That I was who I wanted to be
With their voices so husky,
They roll the blame all over me
They ask me not to lie
For no one would I satisfy
I endeavored to fly, loved to flutter,
But my lovely road diverged
In the sky, I could but wonder,
When doggedness would be emerged
I merely thought when
There was nothing to think about,
Endlessly sought then,
Afraid to see them shout.
Till it became fatal cold,
I ran under the rain
Mysteries I wanted to unfold
But I couldn’t remain
Who could anyway
Deny the truth and continue the play?
