Premium MemberBelly Dancer - part 4

Was on the run
Not going anywhere
Caught again
But hopefully not for long
Might try a spell
I hope Djinn doesn’t put me in chains
Now for my next try

Now I have the money
Time to escape
Before Djinn wakes
Help
I’m running in haste
I think he’s coming

Made my escape
While the Djinn sleeps

The Djinn put me in a bottle
I made him watch me as I did a spin.
Only to hide when I will make my escape

Make a wish
                                              Layla awaits
                                                 Majnun
                                            Of Persian lore
                                          From the oil lamp
                                             Smokeless fire
                                                Jeweled
                                                lizard of
                                                  Djinn
                                              Casted out
                                             Doomed into
                                            an arid desert
                                        The land of betrayal
                                                  Pans
                                        On an endless night

Premium MemberDjinn

Djinn arises from lamp, says
"You may have one wish."
"Make all the trash disappear."
The Earth ceases to exist.

Premium MemberBedouin

Beyond a sandstorm’s gritty veil,
A solitary Bedouin,
Like a ghost in a sea of dunes,
Rides slowly along in the dusk.

The singing of rababah strings
Mimic the cooling evening winds;
Tambourines and flutes sound sadly
From the oasis where he’s bound.

His caravans once wound their ways
From the Atlas to the Tigris,
Trudging across the somber sands
Of a boundless and barren realm.

O Bedouin, where are thy tracks?
No hooves clatter in the wadis;
No trail of rotting camel dung.
O Bedouin, where are thy ways?

O Bedouin does your dirah
Yet teem with goat and camel flocks,
Since you have settled in the towns,
Which you once heaped with scorn and mocked?

O noble herdsman once so proud,
Tightly wrapped up in culture’s shroud,
Are you bottled up like the Djinn;
Forced to serve those who hemmed you in?

The rosy mirage of freedom
Is like a scarlet evening light
That paints the clouds with fiery hopes
Which fade in thralldom to the night.

Djinn

O'er dales and parched wells she flies
Come morning she'll blind
With her hypnotizing mist
And low whispers

Whispers that writhe the mind in agony
That have dazed the children
Of the Round City
As they prolix about the loud and narrow paths

She distills their minds
With the fermentation of grapes
Sending them around the fountains of despair
In a never ending whirl of noxious airs
Where colours collide

She proffers the hide of leather
For the blender of oils
To lend her a hand
To seduce the virgin bride
Whom she'll send to an abyss of evil
Where the resident sorcerer
Grows ever more indolent
As he feeds on boar

She twists in the sky
Upon the incensed wing of Hooriyah
A dear angel
Of the purest light
With duress she tosses her wing
Sending the djinn on a golden stream

It bathes the corners she inhabits
And showers the Earth
With the pure gold of the Celestial Chymist
And so the djinn speeds to the East
As the call of prayer
Shakes the land
