Divot Poems

The Hair Divot

after months
many moons
taking to my
hairbrush

pulling out
the hair that
my brush had
pulled out

from my head
and beard but
what to do
with it as it

seems a waste
to throw away
so pondering
thoughts thinking

recycle

so first i tried
to be a cat and
swallow then
throw up

but
hairballs
aren't any
fun so then

drying it out
trying to
push it in
as if lint

into my
bellybutton
but it was
too small so

next
puckering my
lips as to kiss
adding this

hair to where
my mustache
already
exists

it tickled
my nose
to sneeze not
wanting none

of this
so thus lit
the lightbulb
above my head

a great idea
super gluing
back where
it had

come
from
touche
toupee

Life's a Gamble

Standing by the rail, watching in anticipation,
Expecting that my knowledge will prevail,
Thirty, one and a half tons of flesh and blood,
All pounding over the divot ground,
Mists Of sweat, exhaled breath hovers in the air,
They get closer, the noise of thumping hooves,
sound of inhaling and exhaling of massive lungs,
sight of all the gleaming coats and ears flickering,
Amazing colours of the jockeys silks all merging into one,
race commentator bellowing out over the tannoy,
Over two miles, twelve fences, undulating ground,
Now entering into the straight, conclusion anticipated,
My selection still in contention, still on the bridle,
High hopes, excitement building, wining post in sight,
Jockeys all out kicking and pushing muscles rippling,
Three horses all in line go past the post as one,
Photo called by the stewards, just a head in it,
Could I have won? will I be collecting my winnings?

His day was shattered when Harrison Ford,

Crashed his plane on the golf course sward!

Thankfully, he escaped with only a minor contusion,

But he sure created a humongous divot in all the confusion!

I Understand the Animals Now, Frank O'Hara

I'd almost forgotten what we were like
so many thens, so many "do ya remembers" ago
the days fat with warm summer
dripping off golden smiles
melting like wax in the sun

it was all just a race against time
each tick a heartbeat lost
each sunset crash'd like foaming waves

but we had it down
a rhythm method to laugh in the face of the moon
tearing the days off cheap dime store calendars
using Tuesday and Saturday to roll our stale cigarettes

it seemed so simple then
in my complicated now
smiles + lingering touches + silica crusted toes
= the sight of you in my peripheral vision forever
but now an empty divot in the bed
your perfume on a stranger walking past
the formula unraveled for

we made kingdoms from sand and sargasso
terns our brave paladins
wheeling gull the court's fool
your hair my burnished pennant
snapping in the breeze

I never wanted the earth to turn
cooling air can't turn to black
as shadows fell upon your face

and the sea stole our castle back.

Premium MemberBubba's Club

There once was a fine hacker named Bub
who whacked what he hacked with a wood club
each whack a divot
his hips wouldn't pivot
you should see what he did to the shrubs!

Abracadabra

The ship never sinking deep in sea
Dilating of minds soul and heart.
gainig life back to divot
If only it could be so, Abracadabra

wise advise taken from fools
like the building of pyramids
as counting stars in the cloud
if only it could be so, Aracadabra

survival of twins becoming unfold
rain and sun ceasing against the wicked
Death imprisoned and chained
if only it could be so, Abracadabra

If i could determine my background
Twilight years becoming flash flood
Abracadabra, in minds of the wicked
if only it could be so Abracadabra

Neo's Zero

A hero is welcome too
the boy said, there is no spoon
”...then where are we?...”
Divot of sound in query
Chambers carry the many
Wired alive to memories
Sleeping inside the wary…
Do we care if the steaks tasty?
Just making arguments…

Do you bracket sacraments
Create Trinities of attachments
Are you a lively virtual fantasy
Worth plugging into my reality?
Nero’s Zero was really Her O…
Neo knew and Morpheus too

Basic Operations will apply…
Modification of the human eye
But wait… is this real?
Cords release and lines reveal
Fluid drains and a sound unseals
Memory wanes in silent remains
Liquid light becomes my vein
Splashing colors into crystal lines
Whipping winds of a merging time
Immersion in a ;playful rhyme…

”... don’t worry about the vase…”

Seraph…
“I protect that which matters most.”
I'm hear, so that you don't break it...
