IF I COULD CHANGE ONE THING

IF I COULD CHANGE ONE THING

If I could change just one thing,
I wouldn’t aim too high.
I doubt if I could save the world,
However hard I try.

I wouldn’t tackle climate change
That’s warming up the sea.
I’d do something really selfish
That benefits just me.

The doctors say what’s good for me
Is vegetables and fruit.
And things I like have fallen
Into disrepute.

So I’d approach the matter
With simple pragmatism.
I’d use my power to alter
My own metabolism.

So then I could eat chocolate
And cream cakes by the score.
I wouldn’t need to study
E-numbers any more.

I’d have six spoons of sugar
In every cup of tea
And shovel it on cereal
Without it hurting me.

And best of all dear reader;
Forgive me if I shout.
I’d never eat another piece
Of broccoli or sprout.

Premium MemberEve

The fall of man is attributed to Eve
Who urged Adam to eat the forbidden fruit
Such is the story ancient biblical scriptures weave
Bringing about, as is said, on all of mankind disrepute

Reserving judgment on whether this tale is false or true
Blind belief that we have sinned shrouds us in guilt
Heart contracts every day swallowing this brew
No wonder then facing storms of life we wilt

Instead if we say man and woman are one
Polarities of God’s singularity that split in duality
Then concepts and beliefs entertained come undone
Allowing us to holistically view the absolute truth in totality

Eve is certainly not the villain she has been made out to be
Quite to the contrary, Adam was incomplete without her
Such is the interpretation, which our loving eyes see
We hope dear reader, that with us you concur

Gossip Train Toot Toot

If you look for
ugly
You'll See it

If you stare
 too long
You'll be it

When we
Speak without thinking
to tickle the ear

There is something
to ponder
So as to see clear

When we talk
Just
to disrepute

A manslayer
We become
Killing a reputation
It is mean spirited fun

Just imagine should
The tables turn
And you be the one on the block

being happily sliced and
Diced about
After throwing the very first rock

Being righteous over much
doesn't aid
One righteous to be

Remember but for
The grace of God
goes walking you and me

now my old house
Ain't made of glass
But I'll try to keep this in mind

When slinging,and flinging
around words that I
Choose the ones that are kind

Big Blasts For Babes

A big blast in baggy boisterous hearts
As a charismatic charming chap I chant choruses
Seeing sisal spinning splendid systematic samples
Taken, I mask mistakes making massive moves
I divert, ditch disrepute in disputed dating dates

Shafts of shame shackled short lived shining
Bestowing beasts bearing bulky burdens
Tearing love tags tapped to the tail.
Growing grief gets God giving good gifts!

Realistic remorseful ritual reaps recognition
Dull decision depicting doom deepens dejection
Woman with wits wish wise way
Pick promise pulling permanent peace
Bind body and bloody base before blasting breast

Crispy crystal from crude crooks cry
From foreground formation to foundation
Spicy silky sweets see stars
God's grace: grab generous groins
Before burden burst, brutally burning.

The apples, scented the kitchen,
Reminding me so much of Eden.
Odd, how we love this fruit!
That stands for ultimate disrepute.
Man's desire to be so dandy,
With souls hard as rock candy.

To topple anyone in our way,
At any cost, leads to my dismay.
Alas, seems our human disposition.
To avoid at all costs being an inspiration.
Just to win in any competition?
Destroying souls handily in a frenzied
human demolition!

Born Into Disrepute

Born into rejection and dishonour, stares
Against social flows and the pulse
Sociology collided this time with genuine love
Torn, but upheld by a divinity glide;
Advocating that love means only two people
Respective of authority and impulse
Divinity was not power, but was for turning full circle

Ordeal For Real

Why did Donald Trump emerge,
As a presidential frontrunner?
Why did people call a businessman,
To be a political gun, a stunner?

Politics is in disrepute today,
Requiring tight legal regulation,
Because advantage has been taken,
Financially, by the means of representation.

UK politics has shown deficiency,
Recently it has blown the steed,
With the expenses scandal,
From the politicians greed.

Can we really be represented,
Understood by criminals of fraud?
When the citizen needs loved,
Not dictated to by a god.

Socialism can be respected,
In its redistribution of wealth,
There should be fewer millionaires,
To better other people’s health.

Cognate with power’s regulators,
Validate their existence,
Petition for police inquiries,
To demand rigid penitence.

My Last Sonnet

Friends of yesteryears, so long ago
Faded spirits often dance in disrepute,
Sadly, the best of people that I know,-
Tossed away honor in favor of the loot!

Friends of yesteryears, now a dream
Lingering ghosts racing deep in my head,
Truly, walking dead or so it did seem,-
Rambling where even angels fear to tread!

My friends of yesteryears, know so well
Courage I clung to from my great fears,
Shame, the elixir of my darkest hell-
Adding bitter salts to my dreaded tears!

Ghosts of moments, set in hardened stone.
Ghosts of moments, I must die all alone!

Robert J. Lindley , 05-08-2015

Note: This is my last sonnet.. Written on
the relationship I had with some very bad friends,
over 40 years ago. All four of them have passed on
now and trust me that is a blessing for this world.

Ballad of the Progressive Revelator

He is screaming from his soapbox again.
His voice carries heavily through the air,
like a cloud of sulfur, soot, and disrepute.

He is old and he is fuming,
and he must do what old folks
do best, other than croak.

He must yell at the lost souls
of the newest generation
of degenerates and sinners

who will all surely burn in hell,
who will die writhing in agony,
and none of whom give even half a ****.

He may not even know the source of his
vitriol, but goddamn it, its there,
and he is going to spew it everywhere.

These are not opinions. There will be no discussion.
Our own soapboxes will remain unused.
Our politics all silent and subdued.
We do not want to make a scene.

Back To the Drawing Board

The ignominy of buying and
selling
Is disgustingly despicable
The church of God
Has lost its taste
Its flavour diminished

The worldly purview
Is warming its way into the
church
Money is the order of the day

The taxonomy has to change
So as not to bring the name of
God
Into disrepute....

The drawing board we must
go
Checkmating ourselves...so
this excesses will not condemn
us
By not giving to ceasar what
belongs to ceasar

In Gods presence
You reverence Him in its
entirety
Not hiding under the backdrop
Of christian resource materials
being sold

Let's change and digress from
this sinful way
Before change changes us

Don't Take Slander Personally 1

Slander blossoms without root
harvest of lies and fabrication.
Rumor yields a blemished fruit.

Scandal flourishes while enroute
to whispered, planted augmentation.
Slander blossoms without root.

Taking issue with points so moot
watering truth with orchestration,
rumor yields a blemished fruit.

Fiendish minions supply the loot
while critics pick their confrontation -
slander blossoms without root.

Humor can serve to feed the brute,
fertilizing altercation;
rumor yields a blemished fruit.

To dig and delve in disrepute
soon serves its own incrimination.
Slander blossoms without root;
rumor yields a blemished fruit.
