STAY

Come near do not take your gaze from mine
The heavens have nothing on the stars of your eyes
If you're willing take my hand. let our destinies entwine
If not then fear not for your company will grant me respite
A reprieve from the death of love unachieved
The loss of my heart to an unassuming thief
To be deprived of mourning causes even greater grief

So stay even if to leave if best as you may believe
Stay so your presence will shatter my deluded heart
Stay so your presence will not be granted a deserters part
Stay so that when I heal. my heart will be built anew
Stay so that when your heart is given to another
I'll be devoid of envy and my happiness for you will be true

Classes started up again today. Soon, we’ll be gloriously stressed, and clocked-up on whatever. Our hearts will swell to the pre-med symphony - a frantic opus, composed in the key of no sleep.

In seminars for rising pre-med seniors, (What's needed to get that med-school slot!), it’s obvious that 60% of the students who started out with us, on this track, are gone - left for other majors. “I wasn’t happy, it was too much,” they said.

I feel a pang when I hear that undergrads we’ve shared a trench with have switched their major to basket weaving (‘political science’), TikTok (computer science) or Phys-Ed.

I envy those defectors, I pity those defectors, I envy.. Wait, aren’t deserters supposed to be, well, you know.

Meanwhile, the rest of us, the stubborn few, cling to the dream. It’s a waking dream, for caffeinated zombies, obsessive-compulsive workaholics and maladjusted wonks who neglect personal needs, relationships and in some cases personal hygiene (not me, of course) in favor of a goal.

Maybe there’s something wrong with us?

Premium MemberEaster Speaks

There is no greater love than this,
than that a man would lay down his life
for his friends. Jesus called me friend
long before I ever heard of or knew him.

I suspect if they had to, my mom and dad
would have died for me. They loved me as
indeed, parents should love their children.

The love of my parents and that of my grandmother
is second to none but Christ. In spite of the beating,
the thorns, the spear, the humiliation, and the curse
of the crucifixion, Easter's voice could not be silenced.

Easter speaks and says to me:

LOVE your enemies,
and it's okay to
call them friends
and treat them respectfully.
Remember Jesus and Judas?

FACE and do not flee your destiny.
Be in step with your destiny's timing.
Be quick to FORGIVE unconditionally.
GIVE no less than your very best.
Remember Jesus and Gethsemane?

Regardless of the pain and torture;
Though the cross is too heavy to bear;
and in spite of betrayers and deserters,
FIGHT to the FINISH.
Remember Calvary?

The Law of the Boomerang

Sometimes I want to take someone else's,
Sometimes they take something away from me,
And was my, and became someone else's:
I pay the law of scales cursing.

Today I'm on a horse and I'm happy to win,
And tomorrow I'm just the dust of other people's roads.
And no one will come to save me,
That's why boomerang law is so strict.

Don't wait for outside help
After all, we are our own rescuers,
There are no deserters in this war,
And this fight is very interesting.

You're taking love away from someone,
Someone took away part of your dream.
You worked on it with sweat,
But there are bridges between you.

Today you are only full of fears,
And tomorrow courage is your mask.
You can't remember all the names,
Who was lulled to sleep by a false fairy tale.

Sometimes the truth gives you freedom,
But in return, it will take everything from you.
And you run ahead of adversity,
Hoping that this is what will save you.

Premium MemberForgotten Democracy In the Reign of Fools

When the sun looks into darkness
upside down cowboy's lend a hand to chaos
deserters of faith rejecting lawful behaviour

Persuading bodies believing something good is created from lies
deceit has no value with an opinion against the truth
a human right has been violated by treachery

When the freedom of speech has been tampered with manipulating senses
an unjust law is no law at all, words of St Thomas Aquina's
not a single word defends the innocent today

When judges support blood sacrifice
crime is their legal reality and argument
putting your hands out to help someone in dire need

Condemns them guilty of a crime how is this just
hate has taken over justice to speak properly directed
their convictions are the evidence unto the fact detailed

To what authority do they stand to plea
in the case that is put before them unless ordained otherwise
lending an ear to the wise in the Spirit of listening

How one learns from life's lessons
I am only a beggar like everyone else pleading for His Mercy
the evils of mankind not wishing to upset a single soul

The Damage Done

What becomes of all the ones by careless hands betrayed,
Those left alone all on their own deserted and afraid,
To face the ire of future dire when none puts forth a hand,
And doomed to fear and less of cheer throughout a young life span,
And left to fail without avail and downward spiral sent,
Though without aid the dye is made and hearts an open rent.
So weep for those who in the throes of pain were left alone.
Deserters all who watched it all and never did atone.

We Wish It Is Not True

Our crazy hurry outwits our wits
We wish it is not true. the car speed.
The restaurants. the caution in the winds.
The rape and early sex the little child
Now knows, whose overwhelming juvenility
Had made men mad and wild
We too are perpetrators of the deed
That beckons wails and mourning
For with each dawn, true sense's warnings
Is out our dirty door. we too that bear
Pain's monstrous knife pierce our tender hearts.
Not just the cat burglars, beware
At whose wasting call joy departs
Or the inane thugs in the creeks
Who adulterated our kerosene
And operate on the filthy lane;
Where accidents and deserters are the bane
Of this dying days. killing the savior of
The crying child. making us handicaps,
Our earnest dreams elusive as elusive can be
And making mere men elements of sheer disgrace.
